I love credit cards so much!

Okay, it's July in Maryland and it won't stop raining!!! What's up with that anyway? This is the month where when I go to the beach, I'm escaping 95 degrees at home for a nice cool 90-85 at the beach in Ocean City. It's 77 and raining here right now.

Bleh yes, in DC here and it has been nonstop. So many umbrellas and gloomy days, it looks like London.

The dummy booking 80k + $50 SC + $89 AF IHG offer is now public:

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-ihg-premier-80000-points-50-statement-credit-offer/

Boy, is that ever shutdown bait. I'm not very concerned about my Chase accounts in general so a shutdown wouldn't bother me, so one of these days I'm going to be a DP when I double-dip the Hyatt and IHG cards. I got the Marriott biz safely in December at 16/24 so maybe that's giving me a false sense of security.

Hey y'all! I'm getting ready to book a hotel with UR points through the chase portal. Is there a promo code I can use?

90% chance it wont happen usually. when did your sister apply? has it been a month? if so, you can always still ask chase and see whats up. maybe they will provide u with an adjustment. maybe...
She applied Memorial Day weekend but got the 7-10 day notice. They needed her to verify her address, and then she was approved around 6/20, so yes, over a month ago. Do I need to be concerned about questions about the "business" on this type of call?

I stay at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort on Clearwater Beach.

It is south of the Pier area and away from the area that the Hilton and Hampton are in. Parking is easy. They've got a club lounge. The rooms are large. Rooms look out to the Bay, to the Gulf and if you are unlucky onto the ac units near the tennis courts - I've never been unlucky so far but prefer the Gulf view for the sunsets.

The beach is right there. There are also a pool, hot tub, fire pit, tennis and badminton area (in the sand)and its not at all crowded.

There are a couple of restaurants in the hotel and lots of choices nearby.

It is a 10K with SPG but going up with Marriott. I think to 35K but maybe its 30K.

There is also a Marriott Suites on the Bay side right across the street. In my opinion the Sand Key has the better location.

This an older property but pretty well kept up. And Starwood Preferred Guest used to mean something here.

Thank you. I read the reviews on that one and was discouraged by the fact that many mentioned it needs updates. I will take you positive review into consideration!

Well, Ive been 3 days now without MSR . I'm the person who just said that hotel cards aren't of much value for me :scratchin. Why then did I just spend the last couple days wondering about the 100,000 point Hilton Business card offer not being sure if/how I would use the points? Then I remembered I found non-stop flights for our December trip to Orlando that arrives a day before our resort stay starts. With possibly 7 of us going, I would need 2 rooms that night. I didn't REALLY want to use my Hyatt points because I value them for my stay park and fly nights, I'm trying to save my UR for car rentals, (or maybe I'm just trying to justify not using those points). The Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek would be 50,000 points/room/night. Long story short, I did it:littleangel:. I am now the proud owner of a new Hilton Business card . Now I need to wonder if this is an addiction, if I was just dealing with FOMO or If I can try to slide this one through and pretend this is some kind of plan :rotfl2:.

Congratulations on the Hilton Biz!

:bounce::cool1:party::cheer2::Pinkbounc

If you have a plan for the points (and it sounds like you do), it’s all part of the plan!

:rotfl2:

Oh wow thank you! Holy guacamole.

OK so to answer the How the ... and after Singapore Air redemption:

Keep in mind it is not all spend and I haven't started MSing yet. Alaska Air balance came from 2 BOA Alaska cards and redeeming 4 Marriott Night/Flight packages. To do that, we did also purchase 180k SPG points which also added to the current Marriott balance.

AA is a combination of DH picking up the Citi biz card, me picking up the Barclay Aviator biz card, AA shopping portal and AA rewards network dining and did speculatively purchase AA miles on the last 100% bonus offer. We go through AA miles like water and always make sure the redemption is worth way more than any amount we would have purchased. When it isn't, I book with AA gift cards or MR points and will get butt in seat miles for that.

United - that MPX app adds up.

Club Carlson - don't need use the points every year and take advantage of the card's 40k anniversary bonus so it seems I always have enough when I need them.

BA - we both churned the card and it's the only Chase card we have ever churned to each pick up 100K miles and already had some sitting in there from an MR bonus transfer.

Hilton - I've been working on getting enough points for overwater bungalows for several years and someone here did use my Aspire support link - thank you :flower3: It's mostly sign up bonuses over the years.

IHG is also one that plays into the overwater bungalow plans and we know how much I like options. So, I've been collecting those points for years. I did recently speculatively purchase IHG points on a 100% offer because we are getting close to the time I plan to book these bungalows.

MR points is a combo of using Amex offers, sign up bonuses when a card is at a historical high offer and I think one support link.

Chase is almost all spend on category bonuses 5x and peppered with some support from here, friends and family.

I didn't include the 44k on the Wells Fargo Propel card which is worth $440 and this is where I plan to do some MS. I don't usually pick up cash back cards and use them. I wanted to have something that would diversify the current points but also not be upset if I get shut down for my efforts.

still a very impressive list... even mine at a value of $22k is nothing compared to you even though i MS quite a bit now.
im guessing this is after a long time of collecting? I know i started this game 3 years ago next month...
im really excited to see your trip to Bora Bora and Maldives. That is also my dream destination.
Any plans for EK F or QR J or EY F redemption next time around?

Can anyone help me figure out why I earned Marriott points for the room I booked ON points for my grandpa at the beginning of the month?

+420 Points
(350 Base + 70 Elite + 0 Extra)

There were no room charges or anything... This is my first Marriott point earning that's not from the credit card sign up or the twitter promo, so I'm curious.

I don’t know anything about Marriott, but i know for Hilton you choose “your way”...so DH Hs his account set to extra points in lieu of breakfast and welcome waters etc. Could it be that? Even on award stays he gets the points for that.

I've noticed this lately too. lots of Lowes sales..... I hit the staples sale yesterday for $300 Lowes gc, since I also used the amex offer so effectively saved about 20% off those..... now I need to head to Lowes today or tomorrow, and use a "pro" coupon(spend $150,save $15) that I also got in conjunction with my 10% deal on my other Amex, making it another 20% off purchase (but I can't use this coupon on gc,so I need to make actual purchase)
Then I need to get gc for whatever I have left to max my Lowes Amex offer...(prob around $750 still) and then the plan is to use the gc after that!

What was a Lowe’s staples sale? Is it over?

Congrats on approval! But the rest will not work. That is why people double dip. You can not have both cards within 2 years from bonus posting of either card. If you get them both same day then you can have both.
..are you referring each other after 1year of having the CSP and CSR to try for the 50,000 bonus or just to get the 10,000 referral bonus. If it’s the 50,000 bonus you can only get it again on a Sapphire product 2 years after the first sign up bonus
Just to clarify, you can't get another Sapphire card while you hold a Sapphire card. So you can't refer DH next year to the CSP now that he holds the CSR (and would have received the bonus within the last 24 months). If you really want those sign up points you'd have to double dip today, it's the loophole to holding both at the same time now (and getting both bonuses). Otherwise you are now both locked out for 2 years, and would have to downgrade or cancel your existing cards, to try for the bonus again.

But congrats on approval!

OK well that was a pretty significant oversight on my part! Not sure how I missed that tidbit. Lessons learned and all that....I guess I will have to formulate a new plan for next year!

I put a sticker on the edge of hubby's BCE since it looks exactly like my Blue Everyday. That way I can see it before I pull it out of it's slot if it's the right one.

I like consistency in brands but AmEx took it extreme with all their Blues.

Gonna do the sticker thing too! Thanks for the idea :)

OMG - that is so me at the moment! Finished CSP/CSR MSR earlier than expected and I am itching to get a new MSR. But I was sure I was done opening new cards and would not need Hotel points! Now I feel like the Hilton card is would be perfect to have IF we get AP in October!:ssst::yo-yo:

weird, when i started using gyft, i complained exactly that, it would always deny. They had me verify, i sent in my Drivers License and was verified. I now buy at least 1 $250 card a day with no problems *knock on wood* im not sure why everyone else is having so much issues with it... :\

Thankfully, I didn't need to send anything in. Purchase just went through (after about 3 hours), so I assume they "verified" and determine that "I" am "me" after all without linking my FB account . I much prefer Raise (sadly, no 5x on CIC) since their verification is usually a code sent to e-mail or cell and my initial purchases simply took a few min longer to verify when I first opened my account. Even then, when I called in, I could speak with a security team member who could push them through quickly once on the phone. Obviously, Raise is a different animal since it's discounted GCs, so inventory is an issue sometimes, but I like the platform. Definitely paid for our Disney trip 2.5 years ago solely through the target GC churn via Raise. Those were the days...

Is your $250 a day for MS? :D

Bleh yes, in DC here and it has been nonstop. So many umbrellas and gloomy days, it looks like London.

Another MD-er (you said DC, but we are just 30 miles from DC here in MD) didn't realize we had as many here . Think @speedyfishy is either MD or VA, but thought she was the only other one in the area on this thread.

Kroger people the 10% didn't come off the gc :sad1: I bought a tank for 11.98 and a starbucks card for 15 and it only took 1.20 off. So at least it rounded up!

Oh and for those confused, Fred Meyer is kind of like target or walmart. Full grocery with deli and bakery but you can buy nikes and clothes, gardening, toys, paint and fishing stuff including bait.

I have discovered that there is another credit card churner and/or Swagbuck-er in my neighborhood and this person bought almost ALL of the Disney gift cards at my local Best Buy yesterday  I was there two days ago and there was a mostly full row of $25 and a good number of $50 and some variables -- all gone except one lone $25. I took the $25 card to the cashier to ask if there were more somewhere in the store and he said No, someone bought all of them yesterday. I decided to buy a $50 Bed Bath & Beyond GC on the chance that I could convert it to a Disney GC. BBB is two stores down from Best Buy, and if I was stuck with a BBB GC it wouldn't be the end of the world -- fortunately I was able to convert it (one slight hiccup but it did work). As I was checking out at Best Buy with the BBB GC, I gave my Swagbucks QR code to the cashier and said that BBB wasn't as good as Disney but it would do, and he asked about the Swagbucks deal. I told him it was a reward for making a purchase at Best Buy and wondered if the person who bought all of the Disney cards was trying to get multiple rewards. The cashier did say that this person checked out in multiple transactions. Definitely someone with multiple AmEx cards . . . and maybe a Swagbuck-er who doesn't know the promotion is one per day . . .

OK well that was a pretty significant oversight on my part! Not sure how I missed that tidbit. Lessons learned and all that....I guess I will have to formulate a new plan for next year!

Do you have any of the Chase business cards...they offer large sign up bonus...CIP is 80,000UR after spending $5,000the first 3 months the others have 50,000 after spending $3,000

you shouldnt need to be concerned... its your sisters card, u would have no information on it. Id call and ask anyways. see what chase says.
