I love credit cards so much!

I had the Sam's one for the $15 credit on 2 cards last month and used them to buy Disney gift cards and split the payment. Both cards got the $15 statement credit. Just checked and had Sam's offer for $10 statement credit on $30 purchase on 3 of my cards, the Aspire, Everyday, and Platinum. Just bought more Disney gift cards. Unfortunately, the system doesn't let you split the payment across 3 cards, only two. But $150 in Disney GCs for $122.98 is still a good deal.

Does the system allow you to split payment across two cards with the balance on a (Walmart) gift card?

Yes, you enter the amount you want to use on each form of payment. Last time I purchased GC's from Sam's (about a month ago), I paid with a WM GC, Sam's club GC and two CC's (one to get the Amex offer and the other to work on a MSR).

I did not know the answer to @Lain's question but am glad to learn the answer. Thanks @wendow :flower3:

@wendow, so how many forms of payment are allowed on Sam’s split tender? Sounds like 2 CCs and 2 GCs?

Because @calypso726, you know Gyft sells Walmart GCs that earns 5x UR on CIC/Ink+ through PayPal checkout.

I know you can use 2 CC's and 2 GC's or 1 CC and 3 GC's and I know you can pay the entire order with 4 GC's (that is the max GC's). I've done all these combos :)

My churning life feels so boring right now, lol. We have gotten 3 cards all year...Delta Gold Biz, Blue Biz+, CIP. (This is after getting 13 cards in 2017 and 29 in 2016, LOL!)

We are scheduled for a CSR/CSP double dip in mid-August (I want to put 4 months between my CIP and the double dip). We've also managed to max out 4x CF cards in Q1 and Q2 (yup $6,000 each quarter!). Q1 was all MS via ApplePay. Q2 was 50% MS via PayPal and 50% organic spend. Of course this is all by design and in line with a strategy years in the making, but now that I'm in the midst of it, it just feels super boring, lol.

I went through a similar stage with FIRE (early retirement)...There was a flurry of excitement initially as we got some things in order and now we are in the accumulation phase, basically nothing I can do but work, save and let time pass.

...Ok - at any rate, just venting, haha. Back to your regularly scheduled DISchurners discussion...

Your double dip time will be here in a blink of an eye. This summer feels like its flying by.

hey guys.....guess who's CIP application went to 30 days on the status line today? :yay:

(me. it's me. Also, I found the smilies tab! :thumbsup2)

Should just wait it out or call the number Brenda at the Chase branch gave me when I dropped off my address verification docs last week?

cant be right. 30 days is the first thing, then it turns 2 weeks... then 2 weeks or 7-10 days.

im still on 2 weeks. applied July 1st.

Wow, that is quite the difference from the last several years! I can see why you feel a bit of a let-down. It's really hard to have to go as slow as we have to now. I've only really been at this for going on two years and it's changed a lot. I know the changes are even more drastic for you.

August is next month though so that double-dip will be here in no time. And then you will move to the other CIP (your dw doesn't have it yet, right?) ...what is the timing on that one?

Ah dang it, I forgot 30 days is first. It's been stuck at 7-10 days for a while. Got a letter for address verification, so I brought documents in on Friday to verify, and today the automated status switched to 30 days. So it's not a sure thing, but I was happy to finally get a different message on the status line.

30 days usually means automated system no like, human eyes needed(im assuming your back at square one). 2 weeks usually means good news! 7-10 days means :'(

So the current CIP and the double dip are all my wife’s cards. She is at 0/24 now believe it or not after being as high as 18/24! The strategy calls for a TBD Amex biz card in Dec 2018 and then my wife getting a CIC in Feb 2019. I can get a CIP in Apr 2019. I’m now down to 19/24 and will be 4/24 in April.

Regardless...this 1-2 card at a time stuff feels boring lol! Even the double dip (while it will be exciting if I get both approved) will then be my last churning move for the year practically. It’s definitely a good boring tho because we have point balances to support all of our trips next year already :)

I apologize because I know someone already answered this in detail for me, but it's been awhile and I just started looking at plane tickets again for Japan next May. It's still pretty far away, but I'm trying to at least watch to see if I notice any kind of trends. I've currently been looking on Google flights first to see which dates look cheap and then I'm also looking on United Award flights. My main question is about the miles/$ showing up. So when I see 35k miles obviously that's got to be super low because normally I see 80k.

What does the +$5.60 mean that I'm seeing below the miles listed?

The $5.60 is for taxes/fees. That box would mean the flight would cost you 35K miles one way, plus the $5.60 in fees. Wow, that is a great deal!!!

Oh okay! I thought the miles seemed pretty low which is exciting. It's for Economy and a 17 hr flight (longer than I wanted; shortest I've seen from where we want to fly out is 14-15), but I honestly would probably take it anyway since that's a pretty big difference between 35 and 80. I'll keep watching to see what I notice. Thanks!

That's a good approach, and one that I try to do too, just to get a feel for what to expect. If other flights are shorter, is that because of a longer layover somewhere? If so, it might be nice to break up the long flight so you can stretch out and move before getting back on the plane. Does United allow you to put a ticket on hold? American Airlines has a 5 day hold that they offer without you paying for the ticket, I wonder if United has something like that. That fare seems remarkably low.
