I love credit cards so much!

Thanks @Lain and @SouthFayetteFan for all the ideas last night. I took a deep breath and applied for CIP. I mean Uh DH applied. Got the 2 week message but had that before denial so I wasn’t very encouraged. But today Approved! :dancer:
Still need to work out plan with roofer but I’m pretty excited at 80k UR and the 3x categories. Already texted DH to have him call for expedite

That's awesome news! Congratulations *ahem* to your husband! I'm guessing it's a step too far to have him ask for a match to the Small Business Week 100k in-branch offer when he's asking for the card to be expedited. If you can get your roofer to accept either a check (Plastiq) or Venmo, that CIP will do the job perfectly!

Regarding the WDW tickets that can be purchased with UR points - does anyone know if these can then be upgraded to APs?

That is an excellent question! My first thought is they should be. These are not convention or group tickets, as far as I have read. They are only discounted because of the CSR redemption rate. Otherwise, you are 'paying' full price.

I forgot where I saw it but I think you can use URs for a AP when you call.
We are DVC members, so it would probably make most sense for us to get the tickets and then upgrade paying cash I think. But this is good to know and I'll definitely crunch some numbers to see what would work best for us!

It sounds like you are not a super fast churner. I am not either, although the last 3 months have been a tad hectic. But I don't intend to move at this pace normally. So my point is, if you don't need that chase slot, and it sounds like you don't, then go for the delta amex. I have no idea if it is a best offer or not, so research that. I used a chase slot for my SPG personal, on a whim, and I don't regret it.

Thanks a lot for your input! I really don’t want to go super fast with this but sometimes I feel myself getting a little anxious. :) This game is very addicting you know.

This probably is a stretch but you can have Chase book AP room rates and things like that, maybe Chase can also order you the APs with your DVC discount? Probably won’t work, but maybe worth a shot.

Another slow churner here so my thoughts mirror @disneymagicgirl's. We really push the whole 'get all your chase cards first' but sometimes, there are more useful cards for your spending habits, travel style, etc. I got three non-chase cards while still under 5/24 and I also do not regret any of them. They were cards that I thought may go away (SPG), had a great offer (barclay arrival+) or were really beneficial to me (BCP).

I think the offer your dh received might be the best out there right now but I'm not sure if is the highest ever for the card or if a better offer might come along. You should definitely check into that.

Good points. Thanks for sharing.

Speaking of SPG, I was following along on the whole SPG thing a short while ago and tried to understand the value of having it. Just out of curiosity, if it doesn’t take up a lot of your time can you summarize the value of that card.
Thanks

This would be ideal, and yes, definitely worth a shot!

Ditto, I went hard with Chase for myself... With DH he's only at 2 Chase cards and the SPG personal... and I don't know when he'll get to 5/24 because we are going to take it slow this next year and see what cards work best for our travels. We only take one vacation a year, so we don't need to open a ton of cards to get free travel.

Is applying for a card every 3 months considered ‘fast’.

In addition, Southwest tweeted today:

We plan to serve Hawaii nonstop from these California cities. More details: http://swa.is/hawaii
We intend to serve four Hawaiian Islands from California.

While specific routes are not yet available for purchase, our initial intention is to begin Hawaii nonstop service from Oakland (OAK), San Diego (SAN), San Jose (SJC), and Sacramento (SMF).* From California, you can reach Honolulu, HI (Oahu), Kahului, HI (Maui), Kona, HI (Island of Hawaii), and Lihue, HI (Kauai). We also intend to provide interisland service, so you can fly between the Hawaiian Islands with us, too.

Already emailed DH a script asking for an expedited card and if he can get the 100k offer he “heard about” (from his DW, lol) We shall see if he follows directions.
When I see the card I will ask the roofer about other modes. I may have to give him a cash deposit to get started, if no Venmo. I’m not sure I want to wait for card arrival, then another 10 days for Plastiq as the roof is in bad shape. I have a Venmo account already (my name). Anyone know if it’s a problem to add DHs cc to my account?

VERY surprised of the lack of LAX and SNA on the list...
Maybe space issues at said airports. Not sure how that stuff works exactly but I’d think you’d have to have room for a bunch of new flights. I know ORD is always arguing about expansion for new routes.

Not sure about adding DH's cc to your Venmo, but you can request an "employee card" in your name that won't report to your personal credit report.
