I love credit cards so much!

va I did take property in NY so I am more familiar with NY law, but I think in VA we have 30 days notice.

I worked on the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act redrafting committee and learned more about LL/T law than I ever thought I would as a public health attorney. The committee chair is a DC judge and I learned just how generous DC law is to tenants. The committee chair was aghast at how much less protective the Uniform Act is, though at the time it was originally drafted in the 70s, it was ground breaking in its tenant protections.

I totally just burned my MS location. I think I’ll be paying my rent with a credit card to meet this last 5k in spend on SO’s SPG Biz. The fee is $55 for 1750 in rent. SO thinks plastiq is sketchy so I’m not allowed to use that. :sad2: He thinks if the payment is late we would be kicked out of our apartment and living on the streets. I told him there are eviction laws and that won’t happen. :rolleyes1

did u get the manager called on u? lol

You guys!!! This was supposed to be a pipe dream post, but now that you're both looking to go I think I need to make this happen!

But isn't that what this hobby is all about? Making our pipe dreams come true :goodvibes Ahem, Singapore Suites flight next month, weekend in London just to see the Harry Potter play, Hamilton tix at face value and flying to the opposite coast to see it, weekend in DC to see cherry blossoms and getting ressies for Easter brunch at the oldest restaurant in town when they are fully booked, Iceland for Thanksgiving because, well because, why not?

Seriously though, I know the regulars here are aware of my travel habits but for the lurkers and the newbies reading this thread that may find this hobby overwhelming and the things that some of us do unattainable. Don't let it intimidate you. I started this hobby as a way to make one really expensive, once in a lifetime, dream come true trip that I wanted to do with all my heart, more affordable. I never, in a million years thought that one goal would then lead to where we are today in terms of our travel habits and what this silly, ever changing hobby has allowed us to do. I know I am waxing poetic here, but this hobby completely changed our lives, the way we view travel and what can and can't do. So far, there isn't much a "can't" in the equation. Thanks to the bloggers it isn't can or can't we, but more, how do I make it happen? Whatever it is, one of them has done it and blogged about it.

Ok, off my soapbox now. Let's go make our pipe dreams come true. I'm thinking that Venice trip is a fabulous idea and am very thankful you posted about it. Can't wait to tell DH we are going to Venice again. Oh my gosh, this is going to be so romantic

That’s so cool you worked on the redrafting committee for the act.

Yes!!!! And then I was mean to her. I saw it was the crazy cashier so I used my discover debit to just get 1% cashback. a small money maker. The cashier calls the manager still idk why she didn’t even look at my card or id. Said I was trying to use a discovery card. Lol I said it was discover. Manager comes over asks to see the card I give it to her and she asks if it’s debit I said can you read? I’m awful. Then she says I can’t use it because the my name isn’t on it and I said it’s on the back. She then lets me get my money order. Ugh, I’m awful. I used to be a cashier and now I’m the rude customer.

This one lady is nuts. Said I couldn’t use a Visa card last time. I was like what else am I supposed to use visa is the main card issuer.... I feel like it’s some moron writing these memos to cashiers saying not to let people use Visa cards.

Help, paying property taxes with Plastiq, what do I choose for business type. Utilities, Real Estate, Other, Government???
Meeting MSR for Delta AMEX Biz

LOL you'll never get evicted in Virginia! Practicing here has taught me that I will never, ever be a landlord.

Lol! I’ll try convincing him later that plastiq is fine and a real VA lawyer uses plastiq. SO doesn’t trust my lawyering skills. He is like Cam in that recent modern family episode where Cam is getting arrested and said to Mitchell to call a lawyer. And Mitchell was like I am a lawyer...

I know, I know. I have two problems. Too many options and not enough time. I'm so overwhelmed with the possibilities that I can't make any decisions!
DH wants to do Japan, so that seems like a great use of a 7 night cert for Tokyo, but then we wouldn't have time to go anywhere else, and I can't see multiple Japan trips in our near future. Same with Italy. I'd love to do Venice, but for 7 nights and no other Italy destinations? First world problems!!!

huh, turns out there is a way to check to see if you earned starwood points or not for each transaction...

my last bloomingdale purchase didnt get points, i guess bloomingdale does level3 data.

Are you talking about "Preview New Version"? I think that has a delay of several days. For me, transactions from 4 days ago are showing starpoints earned, but ones from 3 days ago are not, and those from 3 days ago are organic spending.

Hahaha that sounds like my mom. I had to go to work when the weather was icy one day and she said "just remember if you get in an accident not to admit fault or anything." I was like "mom, this is literally what I do for a living."

But seriously on the eviction, I remember a LL/T case I handled when I first started working at a courthouse in late 2014 that ended up following me to my next job at a higher court. I left that job in summer 2016 and the people had just finally been evicted from the home.

Ok quick update on this denial.
I called and said that I had none of the documents above.
After some explanation about my “business” I guess I must have mistyped my ss# on the form :headache: so I need to fax a copy of my ss# card and driver lisence. I will update if I get approved or not after I send the documents

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

Unfortunately, it seems to be happening to a lot of people these days.

There’s a recent /r/churning thread from someone who recently went through the same thing that I meant to share, but I’ve been a bit under the weather so it slipped my mind.

I hope this still helps: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/87h7us/daily_discussion_thread_march_27_2018/dwdg44n/

I started Googling hotels in various categories to get some ideas. I had a very strong urge to just turn in all of our points for AS miles and a Cat 9 certificate, and book a stay at the JW Marriott in Venice. It's on its own private island!!! I snapped out of it and didn't make a move, but I was sooooo tempted at midnight last night.

That hotel is now on the list for my very-hypothetical adults-only 10th anniversary trip to Italy in 2022. You arrive by gondola!

Ok. You’ve got me. This is going on my wanderlist.
