I love credit cards so much!

Just had to book a STUPID expensive Marriott for a horse show next month. :faint: The horse show is in the middle of nowhere (as most of mine are), but it must be a big show because most of the hotels are sold out and what's left is obnoxiously expensive. I guess at least I'll get a good chunk of Marriott points between the stay and my Marriott business card.

You passed on the SPG Biz, right?

If you ever do get one of the SPG cards, it’s better to use Amex SPG over Marriott’s own card at Marriott hotels. A Marriott card will earn you 5x Marriott Rewards points, but an Amex SPG card will earn you 2x Starpoints (which 1:3 conversion = 6x Marriott Rewards points).

Yes, I did, sadly. Honestly I'm kind of glad we did though after looking at our current spending towards the MSR on DH's CIP. $7000 would have been a little tight for us. Plus we really want to focus on earning URs.

I got the CIP on March 15. Any opinions on me applying for the CIC before 5/20?

ETA: Here is my X/24 history for reference.

Chase Sapphire Reserve - October 2016
Chase Marriott - April 2017
Chase Freedom Unlimited - May 2017
Chase IHG - July 2017
Chase Ink Preferred - March 2018

I have no idea honestly. I’m a little nervous that it is soon, but the offer is fantastic so I want to try. SO got the CIP in March too, so I can let you know if he gets approved when I go for it. His stats are:

Freedom Unlimted March 2017
Chase Marriott November 2017
CIP March 2018
SPG Biz March 2018

I’m going for it too and I’m at:
Freedom Unlimited March 2017
Southwest Premeir and Plus July 2017
CIP I think was September/October 2017 I don’t have my spreadsheet with me lol
Marriott November 2017
February 2018 Delta Biz
March 2018 SPG Biz

I would call the Tour and Cruise department and try to rebook it, that way you can pay it all with points. If you transfer it, you’ll only be able to pay the balance in points.

I transfered our May reservation, took about 2 weeks. I paid the balance with URs.

I’ll definitely be going this route for our 2020 WDW trip.
Just got off the phone with the Tour and Cruise dept. I have to send in a form to have Disney transfer the reservation and I can only pay the balance in UR's.Please help me figure out if it's worth the savings. Balance is $342, so I should be charged around 23,000 points saving me around $85? I'm going to check out the Reddit page later when I have more time but am I on track here?

At the end of last week I finally dropped to 4/24, today I received instant approval (surprisingly) for a CIP - using a Dischurners link of course. :D

Just finished my SPG Biz MSR, so needed a new MSR to work towards and the CIP and 80,000 UR was #1 on my list.

Just wanted to say that it is the encouragement and experience of the folks on here that have convinced me to try this business card route. Thanks everyone - this really is a great board where things are explained in simple terms and no question is too stupid. Long may it continue.

Are they able to make a new reservation with your AP discount?

I just made the stupidest mistake  I decided to jump on the points train, and applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, after seeing everywhere that the first year's fee was waived, logged in to my account, and saw the annual fee charged. Turns out if you apply directly through chase, your fee is not waived, and I didn't notice. Tax on the me for being stupid, I guess. Any hope of getting the charge reversed?

How can I find out which Disney card I had? I can’t remember if we had the fee or fee free card.

Tutorial please! I need a few k on my SPG Biz and not sure how to even start with Plastiq. I have no mortgage, rent, or car payment. Also, isn't AMEX cracking down on p2p payments?

I thought a thread on MS had been started in the dischurners Reddit but couldn't find it last night. ???

They way i do it is on the MS thread. It doesnt work out for everyone though. :\ If you want to use plastiq, pay bills that you normally cant with a credit card with plastiq. Health insurance? Power? etc.

Wait! What? Where did you see that? Was that an April Fool's joke?

im not sure, i forgot to link it but people were saying about booking refundable tickets on the UR/MR site and then cancelling the ticket, it goes to alaska $. is it real? im not sure haha.

@amalone1013, @speedyfishy is right that very few places, if any, allow you to buy a MO with a credit card; it’s uaually cash or debit only.

hehehe, i heard of a store that takes credit cards... but not even i dare to try lol.

when wondering about shutdowns, we also need to know your */12 and */6. so 4/12 and 1/6. Did u apply for another brand of credit cards, i see you list all chase cards.
Next question is, do u have any kind of loans?
What is your credit score?

At the moment, you seem fine. are all those chase cards with high limits too?

u did the right thing and apply for the unwaived fee. you get 60k instead of the 50k. you up $5. You did miss a chance to double dip and get both CSR and CSP though, unless u couldnt do the 8k minimum spendings.

If you paid $750 cash, that would be 50,000 UR, not 37,500 UR. 50,000 UR x 1.5x CSR bonus = 75,000 UR points = $750.

Are they able to make a new reservation with your AP discount?
The rep told me I could only pay for the balance with URs. I will research this more on the Reddit forum but I want to make sure my math is correct too.

I didn't think I could do the 8k minimum, so I chose just to do the one card. However, I called them to see ask about it, and apparently, my offer was for 50k bonus with fee (not 60k with the fee), and they put in a request to waive the fee, and I'll find out in a few weeks if they'll reverse it. I just feel dumb. I'm usually so organized and good at this kind of thing! My fingers are crossed.

Changing everything I wrote: what does the paperwork from you application state? EXACTLY what does it state about your annual fee? What bonus offer did you sign up for 60k or 50k? Did you save the details? (If not, always save the details of the bonus offer in the future.)

FYI everyone else: the public offer I'm seeing is back to 50k UR, AF waived.

There are two different offers:
50k UR with waived AF for a year OR 60k UR with NO waived AF for a year.
You did the 60k offer which is a better offer by, as @Albort said, $5 :)

ETA: Just see you updated. I have never seen a 50k offer and you have to pay the AF. Hopefully they waive it for you!

It’s April 2, and
  • The Amex MB Platinum application page is down.
  • Amazon eGift cards are no longer available on Gyft and Swych, but still available on MPX.
    • Short term, you can buy Amazon gift cards in grocery stores in April-June using Freedom for 5x UR, up to $1,500 in purchases per card account.
    • Long term, you can usually buy Amazon or Kindle gift cards from office supply stores for 5x UR on CIC/Ink+.
    • Or you could buy VGCs as @speedyfishy suggested here and here at almost no cost and earn 3x UR on CIP, then load it to Amazon, or use it to shop anywhere you’re not earning a bonus on spend.

you should see if they would give u an extra 10k UR instead of the waived AF.

The 60k offer plus AF is still available via the link I see on DoC- has the 60k offer always been like that? For some reason I thought 60K had become the normal, non-referral offer... I think I need more coffee...
