Just had to book a STUPID expensive Marriott for a horse show next month. The horse show is in the middle of nowhere (as most of mine are), but it must be a big show because most of the hotels are sold out and what's left is obnoxiously expensive. I guess at least I'll get a good chunk of Marriott points between the stay and my Marriott business card.
You passed on the SPG Biz, right?
If you ever do get one of the SPG cards, it’s better to use Amex SPG over Marriott’s own card at Marriott hotels. A Marriott card will earn you 5x Marriott Rewards points, but an Amex SPG card will earn you 2x Starpoints (which 1:3 conversion = 6x Marriott Rewards points).

I decided to jump on the points train, and applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, after seeing everywhere that the first year's fee was waived, logged in to my account, and saw the annual fee charged. Turns out if you apply directly through chase, your fee is not waived, and I didn't notice. Tax on the me for being stupid, I guess. Any hope of getting the charge reversed?
