I love credit cards so much!

The Krogers I frequent in Richmond have been carrying UO gift cards for a while. We spent a week at UO last summer (wonderful trip) and used UR points for flights and hotels and bought gift cards at Kroger to cover food.

Maybe I've just never looked closely enough at mine. I could've sworn I checked before and hadn't seen them. I'll definitely be taking advantage of anytime they have the 4x coupon over this quarter!

Rookie question but how do you book a Disney package with UR's? I already have a pass holder with dining package booked but I'd like to see how paying with UR's compare. I've never seen the option to add dining through the UR site.

You need to call Chase and ask to speak to the Cruise and Tour Department. They'll connect you with someone who can book a Disney package for you that way. It's pretty simple- they can basically see the same thing you would see available on Disney's website for you and can book it.

We've had some DPs indicating that if you book a package with Disney, you can transfer it to Chase to pay with URs, but only if you do so in the first 30 days (I think) since booking. Still, might be worth calling and asking them about it.

Since there's some MO people around here :)

We did our taxes last night, and apparently in my state you can only pay via check or MO unless you use their special site to file... So I'm thinking, why not get a MO with SPG Biz? I'm paying taxes, I think it's pretty legitimate. So I can just go to the counter and say I'd like a MO for $XXX, pay $XXX plus fee, should really be no issues since I'm not trying to MS? I've never gotten a MO before.

ETA: We owe about $250 for state.

Paid federal owed plus filing fee last night... $1540 towards MSR, woo! But also sad to not have withholding correct

I may be wrong but I think Mos max out at 500$ for Western Union and $1000 for Money Gram. If it was a large bill you'd have to do separate checks. I may be totally wrong with That though...

Thanks for the info. I should have been more clear maybe... this is just the state tax, and it's about $250.

My DH got that invite. I signed him up and started doing some surveys for him. I think out of 8 tries "he" qualified and finished one for 75 points. Several times i would get quite far into the survey and then not qualify. I spent quite a bit of time the last three days for very little payoff....YMMV

yeah, I did it. I agree with the others that I answer quite a few questions and then ineligible. I usually just delete the invites now.

Very few places will let you get an MO with a credit card. I haven’t found any that allow that. If you find a place make sure your cash advance limit is low too. You can buy a VCG with the SPG and use that to buy a MO.

Thank you. I did just book about ten days ago so I will give it a try. It is a pass holder rate so not sure.....I paid around $750 for our 2 night package so would that be around 50,000 points with the CSR?

Hit the MSR on SO’s CIP and my SPG Biz. I now just have SO’s SPG Biz. 12k/19k of my MSing is done. I hope to finish in two weeks. Then I will apply SO and I for the CIC. I hope it’s not a problem he just got the CIP. I’ll make sure he is 0/30. I haven’t gotten a Chase card since November. After. SO gets the CIC I’ll get him the Delta Biz. I plan on hitting the CIC spend for the both of us with BMO funding.

@amalone1013, @speedyfishy is right that very few places, if any, allow you to buy a MO with a credit card; it’s uaually cash or debit only.

What you can do is use your credit card to buy a Visa Gift Card (VGC), which acts like a debit card, for the amount you need or up to $500 plus usually a $5.95 activation fee. Herein lies the risk because Amex could consider using their credit cards to buy a VGC purchasing a “cash equivalent,” which is prohibited under their terms for earning points or bonuses. Don’t buy VGCs from office supply stores like OD/OM/Staples, which send Amex Level 3 data that discloses what you bought. Buying VGCs from grocery stores is usually considered safe, but you should throw in some regular shopping so your final bill isn’t the telltale $xx5.95 that might catch a RAT’s attention.

The real problem is liquidating the VGCs. Most grocery stores sell Metabank-issued VGC, which can be used at Walmart to buy a MO for $0.88, but whether your Walmart’s will allow this or not is highly YMMV. Some Walmarts are fully aware of this and will ask to see your card, insist on only cards with your name on it, no gift cards. Others may not know and you can kind of hide your card while swiping, or some just don’t care. Aside from Walmart, there are grocery stores that sell MOs that may be amenible (but you shouldn’t try to use a VGC at the same store you bought it). The hard part is kind of doing your own legwork to find a store that will let you use a VGC to buy a MO.

Quoting myself here because I'm so confused. Booking with ur's from a CSR should give me the 1.5x benefit so should I be paying about 37,500 pts for the above???:crazy2: Sorry, I know this is elementary for some of you.

I would think that is correct. Someone tell me if I'm wrong. I haven't done the transfer from Disney to Chase URs but I know others have. Whoever you speak to at Chase should be able to tell you for sure. One thing I will note, and you may want to ask who you speak to about this to, is that when I called them to book a room several weeks ago I was told that if I wanted to pay in URs, I had to use all of those upfront. I could not pay 20,000 URs then, and pay another 30,000 URs later. If you do end up calling, ask them about this and let us know if you get a different answer :)

Are you a member of the Dischurners Reddit group? You may want to use the agent that another member used (I think Melissa) to try to transfer your reservation. I can't get to reddit from my work computer, but I think there was some talk of other agents potentially not understanding the transfer process or saying that you couldn't transfer the reservation that turned out to be not true. @SouthFayetteFan maybe you can help with the reddit info since I can't get to it?

Uhhh, the CIP coded my giftcards.com order as 3x. Anyone know if this will code as 5x on the CIC? It says travel, shipping and advertising.

I couldn't find any DPs for CIC/Ink+. It may be similar to Plastiq, which earns 3x on CIP, but not 5x on CIC/Ink+.

Checked DoC's Payments Workshop, and, interestingly, if you click through the Source for GC .com, it's a DP for CIP (not Amex Plat or PRG).

If you paid $750 cash, that would be 50,000 UR, not 37,500 UR. 50,000 UR x 1.5x CSR bonus = 75,000 UR points = $750.

I think I’ll be keeping the CIP and will start to MS and not just do it to be meeting an MSR. The $500 card was $508 but I got $7 back on ebates. Then I’m getting 1500 UR points. The card has my name on it too so I shouldn’t have an problem using it to get a money order.

@eeyoresmom is a member of DISchurners :) We do have a nice thread over there called "Churning for Disney" which as a lot of good tips on using URs as well as other things.

Just had to book a STUPID expensive Marriott for a horse show next month. :faint: The horse show is in the middle of nowhere (as most of mine are), but it must be a big show because most of the hotels are sold out and what's left is obnoxiously expensive. I guess at least I'll get a good chunk of Marriott points between the stay and my Marriott business card. Then I had to call and book another hotel for a special discounted horse show rate for the same location for June, which irritates me because I can't even get hotels.com rewards doing it that way. I mean, I guess I can get Wyndham rewards (it's a Ramada), but I'd rather get the hotel rewards. Grrr!

I would call the Tour and Cruise department and try to rebook it, that way you can pay it all with points. If you transfer it, you’ll only be able to pay the balance in points.

I transfered our May reservation, took about 2 weeks. I paid the balance with URs.

I’ll definitely be going this route for our 2020 WDW trip.

I got the CIP on March 15. Any opinions on me applying for the CIC before 5/20?
