You all keep quoting cheap SWA fares.... but let me tell you if you're flying somewhere at the peak season,it can get pricey! I just used for our upcoming trip 35k points per person to get to Orlando on Spring Break..... for a family of 4 thatsalottapoints!!! (fwiw,I usually pay about 5-8k each way off season) so it can happen. It caught my bro by surprise that's for sure(he can't say I didn't warn him lol) he figured he;d have enough for r/t for his fam, nope! he got at least one way on points tho so I did save him some cash.....(flights are at least 375 pp one way last I looked)

I paid about that for our fall break flight to MCO as well, but I didn't book opening day. It stung! Since it was a break from schools here in Mid TN, a ton of people were traveling to Disney, so the flights never went down. I now get up and book on release day and cancel if I decide not to take the trip as long as I think we may be going somewhere on a school break. Usually to MCO I can fly in the 3000-5000 one way range. I also stalk our flights and 9 times out of ten can get some points refunded when they drop. Still, with the outrageous price I paid that one trip, I preferred that over another airline with layover and paid seats/luggage. None of the others have ever beat out SWA prices for me.

How would you know if you were targeted for the Chase Apple Pay thing? I feel like I have asked this before, but I have never gotten any email from Chase except to say Payment due, payment received. I also get the sign up for quarterly Chase Freedom email. Is there somewhere I am missing to sign up for promotional emails? I have looked through account settings and I don't see anything. Is there something on your actual Chase page that says you have been targeted or just the email?

Posting for those who might be sitting on the fence about the $49 IHG. We are in DC now and using our free Anniversary night certificates for the first time. We are staying at the Intercontinental Willard Hotel. It is a historic property located 2 blocks from the White House. The decor is really nice and you are in walking distance of just about everything! The staff has been great and even though we arrived much earlier than check in time we were able to check into our rooms. We are under 2 reservations since both DH and I have an anniversary certificate. They had no problems linking the reservations and we don’t have to check out and back in or switch rooms. I got an email this morning letting me know I’d be receiving 600 IHG points as a welcome gift. The rooms are over $250 per night this weekend and an IHG points stay would be 70,000 per night. Here are some pictures. Granted, this room is still worth an $89 per year card but who knows what restrictions if any may be in place for the new cardholders.

So, I’m posting a picture of the lobby, our room and me saying Hi to all the DISchurning Peeps from underneath cherry blossoms in DC!

Applying for CIC. Do most apps go pending or can you get instant approval?

ETA: Got 30 day message.

Have fun @calypso726. I see the blossoms are still not quite out yet but slightly further along then last week when we were there. My DD decided to drive there this weekend at the last minute hoping to see some. Make sure you see the Tulip Magnolias behind the Smithsonian Castle. They were gorgeous.

I got an email from Chase with the offer for my CFU.

Wow! Just saw that my 35k bonus points from the SPG Amex biz are in my Starwood account, which really surprised me. The statement that just closed has $5k and change on it. I did temporarily hit $7k+ in spend, but I had a very sizable return (which has posted) that has sent me back to around $6k total spend as of today. I'm fully planning to spend back to $7k and have oodles of time to do it, but I was not at all expecting those 35k points to post and transfer to my SW account the nano second after I hit $7k in spend without a statement close.

We will be there in 2 weeks to see if for the first time. I hope they are still looking good!

Can SPG points be moved to SW?

Started to go to Lowe’s today to use my $10 off offer on SPG Biz only to remember I had given DH the card since he was going to the dealership to get his oil changed. Apparently, the dealership offers the 5th oil change free so I have sadly added $0 spend to finish my MSR :( Thank goodness we are heading to Hershey tomorrow and spending 2 nights at a Fairfield Inn and using my card :) So close but so far away.

Thank you for the reminder! There are a good number that are, but not the one I’m sitting under in the photo. I just like the water in the background. We saw a good number like the one behind me in this picture. I’m sure your DD will be seeing more this weekend than last.

This is our first time too. Even though it isn’t quite peak bloom, I’m very glad we are seeing them! Here’s a pic of the Tidal basin today.

Ok, I am now inspired to see what hotels are available for next weekend since we are only an hour or so away. DS and I went in Aug and stayed at a Grand Hyatt that we loved, except for the price of parking.

That happened to me with all my iPhone X purchases and returns. It’s the purchases only that trigger the MSR, regardless of refunds; but you’ll still want to meet MSR factoring in refunds to make sure there’s no risk of clawback.

Yes. Definitely planning to do that.
