Your husband is probably fine - just 1 non Chase card in the last 6 months (SPG Biz won’t show up on credit report)

You might want to wait until May since you have 2 cards showing in the last 2 months - 1 of which is Chase.

@WardFam i agree with @SouthFayetteFan about your husband. hes fine.
Id hold off longer imo for you though. the Experian Bustout score mentions the 3/6 rule quite a bit. 3 cards per 6 month rule. There are other factors though that can help your case... ie, score, mortgage, and other loans.

*i spent an entire night researching on the bustout score*

I was just looking at this this morning for London :)
Same here. We’re looking to do Reagan to Heathrow and Charles de Gaulle to Reagan next summer. My goal is 120-140k ur points for three tickets. Seems like the best option for us.

I think it will be fun. The taxes and fees were high for both the flights and resort, but I went before and it was a lot of fun, so I think it’s worth it. It was almost $300 for the hotel for the five nights and $117 for the flight for one person.

Nice! I had our usual Hilton sandestin reserve for Fall break but my son has asked about Atlantis forever and since flights cheap and I am working on the SPG spend I can make it pretty cheap overall.

How can I figure out exactly when my three months time to meet my minimum spend is up? Is it in my account info somewhere, or do I have to figure it out myself?

Which card issuer? Also sending a SM or online chat is a great way to get confirmation in writing.

I know many of you keep spreadsheets/folders to organize your credit card details. What kind of information do you include? Any tips on how to best stay organized?

Right now I'm focusing on meeting minimum spends but at some point I'm going to have to keep track of which card to use for what purposes. That sounds tricky.

Sorry for so many questions all at once. I first came on this board on December 30 of last year. I've come a long way in almost three months (thanks to all of you!), but I feel like I still don't have anywhere near a good grasp on this and I really want to get to a point where I feel like I know what I'm doing. I'm trying to accelerate the learning curve. I'm going back through and reading old posts now that I understand the acronyms and other meanings better, but it's slow going.

for minimum spendings, i have an excel file that i add to every time i make a purchase. You create formulas within to calculate your total. If your lazy, you can always take the total MSR, subtract that with your payment due. just make sure for your last one, you make sure u know how much u need to spend.

Did someone say SPREADSHEET???

LOL - I’m the King if spreadsheets - here’s a comment I made back in Jan on this exact topic...

On the topic of keeping track - I have a spreadsheet (well I have about 40 spreadsheets, my wife's joke is I have one for everything) - but my one for tracking CCs has the following fields (Bold for ones I think are really important). (Also should note that I keep my list and my wife's list separate for tracking each of our 5/24 statuses, etc.)

1) Issuer
2) Card Name - Highlighted Green if a Biz card that does not affect 5/24 status
3) Last 4 Digits
4) AU - used this to track when we used to add spouse as AU on cards - no X's have appeared in this column lately ;)
5) Date Approved - the sheet is sorted by this column
6) Date Cancelled - blank unless I cancelled the card
7) Annual Fee
8) Annual Bonus - things like 6k SW points, free IHG night, etc.
9) Signup Bonus - detail of the signup bonus I received on the card
10) Min Spend Amount
11) Date Bonus Received - helpful with Chase where you're tracking 24 months to get the bonus again
12) Bonus Value - an approximation of what the signup bonus was worth
13) % Return - Bonus Value DIVIDED BY Min Spend - neat to see my return
14) Notes - misc notes not captured elsewhere
15) Ongoing Rewards - field where I capture any category bonuses (i.e. Grocery 3% or Gas 3%, or Freedom 5% quarterly)

When I cancel a card I highlight the whole row in a light red shade but don't move it or sort it differently. By counting backwards I can quickly determine how many cards I or my wife has been approved for in the past 6 months, year, 24 months, etc.

I have all of this information stored for all 62 cards we've applied for in this game. It's nice for informational purposes. For those tracking by hand...I'd consider moving to a spreadsheet at some point, especially if you're gonna get serious about the game. It will eventually become hard to keep writing it all down.

I had previously talked myself out of the SPG business card because I had some concerns about making the spend with so many places not taking Amex. I also had some concerns that I don’t use hotel rooms much. My timeshare rooms costs average around $450/wk. I had gotten the personal Marriott card because my rooms had not fallen into place for the Aruba trip right away. Then I got theMarriott business because it wouldn’t count in my 5/25 and I felt like I needed a MS. Now between those two and the extra Marriott Sunday points and the other points where we were getting 50 points/day I have 175,000 Marriott points. So now I’m starting to check out the Marriott hotel +air packages. I have to say, I’m loving the SW companion pass, but we have a little airport in town that has Delta flights. There are 2 flights/day (little prop planes) that go to MSP which is a Delta hub. If I get the SPG business I can do a hotel +air package, get 100,000 Delta points and maybe make travel a little easier for my mother for a couple trips when our CPs run out after December. I could use the room to extend one of our Wisconsin Dells trips and then rent out my timeshare week. Another reason I’m thinking this might work is that Real estate taxes are coming due and they do take Amex. This could cover a chunk of my MS. I understand I have about 3 days to decide.

I just have to say that I really love this group! I don't comment often, but I love following along. So much great advice. I wish I would have known about this group before starting this hobby I definitely would have quite a few more points. Now I need some advice! I was planning on PCing mine and DHs CIP to a CIC before our AFs, but with this new bonus I think we will just sign up. We bought solar for our house last month and so we each signed up for 2 new cards. I'm wondering if I should wait a little longer before applying for the CIC. Here's our history:
DH:
CSR - July 2017
CIP - Oct. 2017
Venture - Feb. 2018
SPG Business - March 1 2018

Me:
CSR - March - 2017 (recently PCd to Freedom)
CIP - Aug. 2017
Marriott (120k bonus) - Feb. 2018
Venture (we signed up for these cards to pay for some air bnbs we needed to book) Feb. 2018
SPG Business - March 7, 2018

I know I am 3/24 and DH is 2/24 but I'm still a little confused about the other numbers and which cards count
Thanks again - everyone here is so amazing!
I’m jealous of your dual Venture approvals! Nice!!

There's a new ShopRite deal for the next week...buy $50 in select gift cards and get a $10 certificate for a future shopping trip. Disney gift cards are included, so it might be of interest to some of you.

@SouthFayetteFan I keep a similar spreadsheet but I have mine & my wife’s cards all on one sheet, color coded to keep track of our */24 statuses. It’s a little confusing to look at. I may try two separate sheets and see if I like that better.
I have a separate section (with a new header dividing it) for each of us on one sheet :). Basically I have me, then her, then bank bonuses, then referral activity tracking.

This is one of 20 sheets in my financial spreadsheet, LOL!

Just back from 8 days in Disney and there's over 60 new pages! I got through about the last 5. No way am I going to be able to read through them all! I saw on Reddit there are new threads so I copied and pasted my old links. Were there any other changes? We had a blast by the way, can't wait to go back in June.

While we were away, we finished the minimum spend on my Amex SPG biz for the 25k points, now to call in and hopefully get matched to the 35k offer if they're still offering that. Long time customer (1999), disappointed, etc, etc. Now moving on to the spend on my husbands marriot biz!

I think the biggest news was that the CIC bonus is $500.
