I love credit cards so much!

lmao about dreaming of rats tonight! If I can pay my mortgage with it then I will definitely go for the new offer! @wendow, what do you say? Should we go for it?!

I wanna try it but man, I'm afraid of totally blowing a bonus. However, I have been putting my dd's dance tuition on my Amex BRG through plastiq (still meeting MSR) and @Albort is right, they don't know what we are paying for.

I called, and eventually got 3K courtesy spg points after I asked to speak with a supervisor. The first rep said she would open a case with the marketing department (I got a case number for follow-up), then I asked to speak with her supervisor. I emphasized my long relationship with AMEX (16 years according to their records) and the supervisor kept reiterating how the offers are hard-coded to your application. I did have to come right out and ask for some compensation, like bonus Starpoints, and that's when she relented and gave me the 3K. I don't really anticipate getting any more than that in the end, but I figure AMEX should feel some heat for their policy. My SPG Biz was opened mid-Jan.

I got the card in January, I've also got a very long history with Amex (first card in 1999 when I turned 18!). You've given me confidence to make the call when I get home from work this evening. Hopefully I can get some courtesy points as well.

RAT... Rewards Abuse Team.

After what I went through with DH and his Delta platinum Amex I don’t know guys; I would be super hesitant to do anything to catch their attention.

Those delta biz cards are tempting since I seem to fly them at least one way on my trips lately and will in Nov. Do either of them have annual fees and aside from the credit and the 10k mile diff in bonus between the two, what's the diff in cards since they are both 3k spend?
.

Delta Plat Biz has a $195 annual fee NOT waived in yr 1
Delta Gold Biz has a $95 annual fee WAIVED in yr 1

I'm sure the benefits of each card have some differences too (Plat earns some MQM miles...whatever those are, lol). The Gold seems like the better offer to me since you avoid the $195 annual fee but I am by NO MEANS a Delta expert :)

Gold it is. No reason to pay an at esp for a card I won't keep and I don't need mqm since I don't fly any one airline enough to qualify for status. Alaska is the only one that could offer those and get me to bite.

I also like the gold because I know I can meet 2k and maybe the 3k without going crazy since I'll have some pre Paris stuff to buy, clothes, adapter etc.

I'll probably apply over the weekend so there will be time for people to update their links ☺
.

Big difference with Delta Platinum is the companion certificate. Not just the higher mileage bonus. After first year you get a companion certificate for flying companion inside US. I use that all the time to get 5 of us to MCO. A friend of mine uses hers every year to go to NYC. The $100 statement credit helps alleviate the first fee.

Ugh, my SO got the 7-10 message for the CIP and he hates calling in. I think having a relationship with Chase helps with approvals. I had a Chase bank account since I was a freshman in high school and got approved with $5 in revenue. We recently started a side hustle that made 2k in January so we put that for him and he is denied. He does not bank with Chase.
Was it instant 7-10 day message? You sure he is 0/30 and under 5/24.

We just did our taxes...owe $13,116:eek::faint: So like any good Disboard churner I immediately thought "what card can I get to pay this thing?" I tried to use the Amex Plat Business referral link one person had on reddit/dischurners but it was dead :sad1:. Went ahead and applied for it (because there's no such thing as too many Amex Platinum cards right:sad2:). Approved immediately and now waiting impatiently for it to come in the mail!
I'm still halfway through my SPG business spend and almost done with my PRG spend...good thing I :lovestruc MRs! One thing that really pushed me to the Amex Plat Business was the 1.5x MR on purchases over $5K. This is sadly one of those...oh well, silver linings, right?

For all of you who have been waiting for a higher offer on the SPG Biz, here it is:

Earn 35,000 bonus Starpoints after you make $7,000 in purchases within the first 3 months. Annual fee is waived for the first year, then $95. Offer ends 3/28/2018.

[UPDATE] As @SouthFayetteFan reported, "support" links for this new, higher offer are now available. If you are interested in this offer (and it's a really good offer), please show your support for this wonderful community and thank someone who you feel has helped you in this thread by applying through their link on /r/DISchurners. For those on DISchurners, you'll need to update your links for this new offer.

Note that the higher offer does carry a higher minimum spending requirement. $7k in 3 months may be a bit much for some without getting creative with your spend. But you’ll come out of this with at least 42,000 Starpoints, which is no small sum! The 35k offer ends 3/28/2018. (For those of you thinking about buying Starpoints at 35% off from points dot com, that offer ends 3/16/2018.)

YAY!!!! Just got one! You'll be receiving my thank you gift soon. wink wink

Strange creative use for the Delta Gold Biz Card:

I'm posting this for people who are trying to stay or get under 5/24 (and slow their roll with Chase)...but have already hit some of the popular Amex Biz cards (SPG, BGR)...

I recently got the Delta Gold Biz card...spent the $2k and earned 52,000 Delta miles. I also purchased a $50 Delta gift card (for free after the stmt credit). One problem...I don't fly Delta EVER...hmmmm. Now you think I'm crazy - well I sold the gift card on Raise.com and earned $41.80. I redeemed 51,000 Delta miles for a $250 target gift card. The way I look at it - I got a $291.80 return on spending $2,250 (including the target "spend" I could've put on another card instead of the GC) at a return of 13%. Pretty good deal! AND now we can refer player 2 to the card, do it all over again and this time get a little better return.

I'm not suggesting everybody do this - just a creative way to redeem that still gives you a decent return. For those not interested in flying Southwest...I'd consider this option too as you can cash out those SW points into GCs at a pretty nice rate too.
This is perfect for us!

Think I'm about to pull the trigger on using some of these UR points I've earned. A while back there was some chatter about booking a Disney package (although I just need a room only) using your UR. I searched a little, but y'all correct if I'm wrong before I proceed.
  1. Book the AP Discount through Disney/pay the "down payment"
  2. Contact UR Tours Dept and get the reservation transferred to them (do I need to wait a few days or can you do this immediately).
  3. They take my UR points and we go to Disney :)
Anything I'm missing?

One of my Facebook friends just posted that he and his wife are taking a big trip this year and wants to know if it would be worth it to get a card that would give them some miles towards their travels...

MY MOMENT HAS COME!!!
You've prepared all your life...for this exact moment in time. Now...control your emotions, you don't want to overwhelm them. Deep breaths...talk slow, LOL!

I always fly solo to meet friends so I don't even use.the companion fare on alsaka. Delta also isn't my preferred so I don't know that this is a keeper for me even at gold unless I get a rention after the first year. I likely wouldn't put any spend on it faster meeting msr. I end up flying them because they and Alaska have the most flights out of Seattle but delta has the red eyes as doesn't.

Plastiq update....got email wanting to verify my loan for the mortgage payment i was trying to squeak through on my CIP. I assume I should ignore that. Should I try sending another to a differently worded address?

Was it instant 7-10 day message? You sure he is 0/30 and under 5/24.

It wasn’t instant. It was 30 days at first then changed to 7-10 after four days. He is 0/30 and under 5/24. He only has a discover that he got his first year in college and the Marriott and FU.

You got it! I'm not sure about a waiting period. I wouldn't think more than 48-72 hours?? If booking today with Disney, call UR on Monday maybe. How fun!!

Since you have the legit side biz going on, I might be tempted to call and recon once you get the letter telling why you were denied.

Is Plastiq asking you for more information or was it just an email verifying that you set up a payment?
