I love credit cards so much!

Applied last night for the AMEX Plat (100K offer) and was instantly approved, that was a pleasant surprise. I am excited to give Lain's trick a whirl. I will call Chase to see about PC from CIP to CIC.

Congratulations on the new card!

Unfortunately, MPX stopped earning 5x MR on certain Amex cards as of about two weeks ago: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/mpx-no-longer-earns-5x-amex-platinum/ Rules can change fast and often for the worse.

The 100k offer on the Amex Platinum is still a very solid bonus and there’s enough first year value in the Platinum to more than make up the AF. Unfortunately, with this nerf, the card isn’t the points generator it once was.

What are your thoughts on Discover it

I loved my Discover It the first year I had it, because when signed up they matched ALL the cash back you earn...so maxed out the 5% categories every quarter as well as some other spend and my first year cash back total plus matched was a little more than $900. Not too bad :)

Their 5% cash back categories are posted for the entire year which is helpful (side eye to chase)...Q1 is warehouse, Q2 grocery, Q3 restaurants, Q4 amazon and warehouse. You can decide if those are categories you could max out before applying, which is nice. Q3 is the only one I struggle with...end up buying gift cards for large amounts for use during the year.

I got the 5-7 days reply on this one:scared1: (waah) side note.... almost ALL of our cards (2 player) have been Chase for years now..... I haven't tried for a new Chase product since 1/2017 (csr) and I don't intend to until at least next fall/winter (maybe).... think I'm risking too much to even think about it at that point? I def. don't want to lose what I have....

I was 2/3 with my first two Chase cards and am currently 3/6. I'm not planning on applying for anything else with Chase for a while since now I have DH applying, but have had no issues other than 30 day notice for every card I've applied for which switches to approved a few days later. I wonder if they're looking at anything else like rate of spending on the cards or redemptions? I've redeemed UR points twice- once for a hotel room and once for airfare. I meet my MSRs quickly, but it's all organic spend. I think at this point it's so YMMV on the Chase shutdowns it's hard to tell what really sets it off.

Met the Delta Business spend with BMO. I applied my SO for the CIP and got the 30 day message. Hopefully, he gets approved. I want the CIC for myself, but I have a “business” and I already have the CIP. I may just forget about the CIC and double dip with the CSP and CSR after I hear about SOs CIP status. I have gotten four Chase cards in the last year and one Chase Business card. My first card was last March. Typing that out maybe I should wait lol

Anyone have any ideas of what to do with 140k Marriott points? Preferably, somewhere Southwest flys. I currently can’t take a vacation, but I think planning is just as fun. I’m using 180k for five nights in Rome as soon as I get my SO enough points to fly business. I’d also want a resort or a city since we are under 25 renting a car is ridiculously expensive. I was thinking about Atlantis. I went there as a child and loved it, but I hear food is expensive.

I now have the Amex SPG Biz CC which I believe gets me access to the Sheraton lounge with it. I need to book a one night stay closer to the airport before we fly to Orlando next Friday and thought it might be a good opportunity to check out the lounge since the price is reasonable. Any thoughts on the Sheraton lounges? We'd probably use it in the evening and then early morning since we have a 6 am flight and it says it is open 24/7.

So, I am almost done with my dh SPG Biz spend now. Of course I was just going to lay low until I am under 5/24 in the fall, but we all know that min spend burn LOL. I see Delta has a Biz with a very low min spend and no annual fee the first year. I was also thinking Hilton Biz, but their spend is higher. I live in a Delta hub, so having Delta miles in my account is always a good thing. Anyone have issues getting more than one AMEX Biz account? I just got the SPG in January, around the 11th or so. And if I do another one, would a third in a couple of months get me in trouble?

What happens when you close the BIZ accounts, since they aren't on your personal report, it shouldn't cause issues correct?

It looks like all of the rooms go for between 35k-45k a night at the Atlantis. I was looking at a stay at the Cove for July, which is the upper end resort and it seems to be the best deal if you can do 5 nights for 180k points but the room is running $699 (without taxes) per night. Yes, food is expensive at the resort. You can go offsite and find some cheaper options.

When third parties book, sometimes their system doesn't interface with the resort system the right way and the reservation doesn't get put in for whatever reason. People absolutely freak out at the front desk and on the phone which is why the hotel industry hates dealing with third parties. The confirmation number you received isn't Disney's confirmation, but the confirmation number for the third party website which is probably why the agent wasn't able to pull up your reservation. Sometimes the third party confirmations are put in a weird place on the reservation that makes it hard to find, and a newer agent might not be able to find it.

Definitely give the Wholesale department a call and a WH coordinator can look up your booking or they can reach out to the third party to put it in the right way.
We leave tomorrow, so not worrying about it anymore. But the email I received yesterday was from Disney, welcoming us back to WDW

“We’re so glad that you’re coming back to visit us—there’s even more to see and do! Plus, it’s easier than ever to enjoy your perfect vacation as you simply relax and have fun with family and friends.

Confirmation Number: 472041756xxx
Arrival: February 28, 2018
Departure: March 1, 2018
Resort: Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
Package: Room Only”

I understand third party bookings and called Disney Wholesale originally to get my confirmation numbers & adjust the booking. Booked ADRs and FPs. Got my Magic Bands. So now I get emails from Disney themselves, not Chase, with a confirmation number no one recognizes. So if Disney doesn’t recognize the number, how exactly will the hotel recognize it? (That’s a bit sarcastic as I’m sure it will be fine, but it’s still odd. )

The Cove looks awesome. My dates the Royal Towers had a point savers option 140k points for five nights. The point savers option has me leaning towards the Royal Towers.

Was your Poly reservation showing in MDE? After calling Disney Wholesale my last UR reservation at CBR showed up without problem. When I called Disney about modifying it though they couldn't do anything with it as that had to be with Chase.
Yep, everything in app. ADRs, FPs, res at Poly & Dolphin. Just can’t make a res with Magical Express.

AMEX hands out Biz cards like candy :) I got the BGR, Green Biz, Blue Biz+, Delta Gold Biz, SPG Biz all in like a 9 months span or less.

The Delta Biz has had better offers though recently. I signed up when they were doing 50k for $2k spend. Not sure what the current offer is but I think it's less than that right now.

New Chase Shutdown Report that may be of interest:

This was shared on r/churning just now. Gives you an idea of the risk and how hard is too hard with Chase...

  • I was probably at about 10/24. So I had Freedom Unlimited about year and half (downgraded from Saph pref). Hyatt for about 4 months, IHG for about 9 months, I just opened a Marriott biz card about a month ago (about half way through my min spend for the bonus) & just recently applied for the $200 bonus Disney Chase card. Out of no where all 4 currently opened cards were closed, I received no letters or emails. Since I had no where to move my UR points I had to cash out 94k.

10/24, 4/12, 3/6, 2/3 | looks like are the triggers in this case.

They had hit Chase pretty hard, imo. Much harder than I'd be willing or comfortable with. 2/3, 3/6 and 4/9. I think I'm 3/12 and I'm terrified to apply for another Chase card.

only 4 cards? too close together for apps? yeesh...only 4 cards!

I was 2/3 with my first two Chase cards and am currently 3/6. I'm not planning on applying for anything else with Chase for a while since now I have DH applying, but have had no issues other than 30 day notice for every card I've applied for which switches to approved a few days later. Soooo update here. This person was actually at 20/24!! They said they were "estimating" 10 but "re-looked" at a credit report. So basically they were dumb...20/24...don't even consider a Chase Card at that point. Still obviously a cautionary tale though...

Well that is a legit room confirmation number so no worries at the hotel. Did you try the web form? https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/airport-transportation-reservation/

There had been a different number to call the DME service when booking with a 3rd party like Expedia but I can't pull up the number off hand. I did it in 2015 when we did a last minute trip to see the last Holiday light display, we booked room only through Orbitz and had to the call a different number to get ME setup. Although the Wholesale group should be able to set it up for you as well, being the TA on the ressie. But as long as you have your baggage claim stubs you should still be able to do it at the desk and not have to collect luggage.

Yeah, we have magicbands and will be sure to give Magical Express our baggage claim stub.
Just finished online check in for our flight! Less than 24 hours to go!

Someone on Reddit said they got the Aviator bonus without waiting 24 months, so I got the courage up for an application hit apply it said processing and then it refreshed the application page with all my info still filled in. I didn't get any notifications of a hard pull so I double checked everything and hit apply again and got a reviewing application, you will receive a letter in the mail message. Not the best way to start out your morning.

Scary to me but also stupid they are not paying attention. That’s what spreadsheets are for. Lol.
I’m staying away from Chase for now. Finishing BOA card spend & starting SPG Biz spend. Keeping DH under 5/24 for a chance at Companion Pass. I may have withdrawals by summer.

Good luck. Fingers crossed.

I hear you on the withdrawals. Have 2 months to go before getting under 5/24. DW has six months to go - got rejected for CSR after I miscalculated 5/24 - forgot a BOA VS card she opened and closed in 13 months.

Sitting on the sidelines is killing me right now watching you guys have all the fun (although I did just receive the SPG Biz - thanks to the posts on here which gave me the confidence to go for it)
