It depends on your goal. points will get you more travel rewards. Our plan is decrease our travel expenses so we can travel more.
Our travel goal: Disney Mediterranean cruise in May 2019. We will need flights and hotel for 4 people. 7 day cruise plus 1 week in Spain. We also do Disney once a year and visit DH's family in California.
This is what we have (2player):
Freedom: 30k earn about 5k UR/month
SW x2 companion pass until 12/31/2019. 120k points
DH CSP: 50k points
Me MPE:70k points
DH Applied for CIP: 80k
This is my plan:
Me: CIP
DH: MPE
Me: CSR
DH: SW x2
After that hotel cards and at some point we will need to add SW business card for me to earn more miles for 2018, since we are down to 50k.
Don't forget to apply for your CIP through your DH's referral link so he can get another 20k UR!
SO, if you are truly at 2/24 then you have potentially 3 more open spots with Chase cards that fall under 5/24. My recommendation would be go for the CSR assuming you can use the $300 travel credit during the spend. The AF is then a $150 with the travel credit but you get more value for the same spend. Both CSR and CSP require $4,000 the first 3 months. Assuming all of it is done on 1x purchases on the CSP except for $300 in travel you will get $587.50 in value. 54,600 x 1.25 = $682.50 - $95 AF. The same $4,000 and using the travel credit on the CSR will give you 54,900 x 1.5 = $823.50 - $150 AF = $673.50.
