Ouch... you could find a decent used car for that price. We bought a 2006 Scion XB with 40K miles for $5K, just last year.
Yes. Especially since the blue book value on his car is less than $3k. It is a 2005 but DH tends to neglect his car

Has anyone actually called Chase and gotten matched to the 100,000 IHG offer? I don't know why but I am nervous about it. Would I be applying over the phone (did this once and it was so annoying! They had to read every word of the fine print to me!) or is it just getting matched to the offer so when I apply online, I am eligible?

sending them an SM to match also works. Chase will usually match if u are within 3 months of opening ur card if the terms are the same. I matched twice since getting into the hobby. if ur close to that, u can always just ask. it doesn't hurt to ask!

My 100k IHG points actually just posted today. I signed up online using the 80k offer, then sent a secure message to Chase asking to be matched to the 100k offer. I hit the 2k spend before my first statement closed, sent them a secure message letting them know I hit the 2k and my points just posted.

Unfortunately, the latest DPs are saying that they are no longer matching the 100,000. But it may be possible with a phone call. Would really like the extra 20,000!

If the offer is no longer running and you are just applying now, rather than having a card that was obtained while the offer was active, I would say your chances won't be great.

it still doesnt hurt to try. I was declined 3x for my ink+ match, but it did work on the 4th try haha. Your right on the DP though.

Alright, while I was setting things up for DH, I wrote up a little tutorial for linking your Marriott account with Twitter and using IFTTT to get some free points.

STEP 1: If you do not yet have one, create a Marriott Rewards account by going to http://www.marriott.com and selecting “Join Now” in the top right corner of the site. Make note of your rewards number from the Profile page.

STEP 2: If you do not yet have one, create a Twitter account by going to https://twitter.com/signup, entering your information and hitting “Sign Up.” Continue through the registration process and confirm your account through the email confirmation process.

STEP 3: Go to https://mrpoints.chirpify.com/rewardspoints/register and hit the “Connect Twitter” square. Then hit the “Authorize app” button. This should take you to a form to complete which asks for your name, email address and Marriott Rewards Account Number. Make sure to use same email address that your Marriott Rewards account is linked. You can also hit the “Follow Marriott Rewards on Twitter” button for an extra 125 bonus points.

STEP 4: If you do not yet have one, create an IFTTT account by going to https://ifttt.com/join and choosing your sign up method. Once signed in, click on the “My Applets” tab at the top of the page.

STEP 5: Click on the “New Applet” button on the upper right side of the site. Click on the large, blue “+ this” portion of the screen. Hit the “Date & Time” square with the large clock, choose your time zone and hit “Connect.” Next, choose the “Every day at” square and choose the time you want your tweet to be sent out, then hit “create trigger.” Next, click on the large, blue “+ that” portion of the screen. Click on the Twitter square and connect your twitter account to your IFTTT account. Next, choose the “Post a tweet” square. In the Tweet text field, put “Thanks Marriott! #MembersGetIt #RewardsPoints #FindYourRoute #MRpoints” then hit the “Create action” button. Then hit the “Finish” button.

STEP 6: Go to https://ifttt.com/applets/SMvaxczG and click the “Turn on” button. Under “New tweet from search” in the “Search for” box, type in “from:MarriottRewards exclude:replies.” Then hit the “Save” button.

You should now be all set up to receive some free Marriott Rewards points.

Thanks for taking the time to write all of this out. Despite the excellent instructions, I managed to mess it up (I think) - I didn't realize that I had used a different email account for twitter than Marriott until I had already linked the twitter account to the Marriott rewards number. I did get some bonus points - 250 points for something and 125 points for something else - but I'm not sure I got (or more importantly, will get in the future) the 50 points for posting the tweet. Which did post, so that part works. If the 50 points don't post for the next few days, I suppose I will call Marriott rewards and see what might be done to fix it.

Guys, this Equifax thing is reaching new levels of ridiculous. As someone on Twitter pointed out inputing last name "Test" and last 6 social security digits "123456" will yield a you've potentially been breached message. When I clicked on the enrollment date they can enroll 9/11- 4 days before my date! Tech sites are reporting some people are getting different results each time they do it, some people are getting you've been breached results putting in wrong last names and their numbers, right last name and bogus numbers... moral of the story is please do not depend on their "checker" to determine if you've been compromised, it's obviously flawed. Keep an extra close eye on everything credit related yourself!

I'm pretty sure at this point, I don't trust anything from Equifax...

I feel like it's a laugh or you'll cry situation. Hackers might have all our info and whatever info is out there will be out there for enternity. Laugh now for we'll cry later...

You twitter account doesn't need to be the same email as your Marriott account. Just when you fill out the form, make sure to input the same address as your Marriott account and it should be fine. You can unlink your Twitter and relink it as well, if you aren't seeing the points post to your Marriott account within 24 hours or so.

Also, make sure that your Twitter isn't private, because you won't get credit for the tweets or retweets.

Ok spent the last month reviewing all the pages. Looking for a new card/s. Got the sw to get the companion pass so over the last two years I've opened two chase cards.

What card/s would you recommend
- travel -flights, hotels, rental car
-cash back

Thinking the csr or csp. Then doing the chase ink business but not sure which one.

Thanks for any input.

It depends on your goal. points will get you more travel rewards. Our plan is decrease our travel expenses so we can travel more.

Our travel goal: Disney Mediterranean cruise in May 2019. We will need flights and hotel for 4 people. 7 day cruise plus 1 week in Spain. We also do Disney once a year and visit DH's family in California.
This is what we have (2player):
Freedom: 30k earn about 5k UR/month
SW x2 companion pass until 12/31/2019. 120k points
DH CSP: 50k points
Me MPE:70k points
DH Applied for CIP: 80k
This is my plan:
Me: CIP
DH: MPE
Me: CSR
DH: SW x2
After that hotel cards and at some point we will need to add SW business card for me to earn more miles for 2018, since we are down to 50k.

CIP first as it's the hardest to get then CSR/CSP. Do you & your family have TSA Pre/ Global entry already? If not one could get it with CSR bringing the 150 after travel credit down to approx $65. Compare their travel insurance offerings to see what you prefer. Decide if you'd utilize the 1.5x vs 1.25x. (You can downgrade/upgrade Sapphires but only 1 bonus every 2 years & the bonuses are the same right now.)

No one got a message, except if you put in fake info it says you weren't affected but can still sign up for credit monitoring. The HILLARIOUS part? The TrustedID to monitor your credit is a subsidiary of Equifax. They get to pay themselves to "monitor" their mess.

Personally, I'm not going to continue the enrollment. Between hiring themselves and their execs selling small (to them at least! 1 milliion USD$ is a lot to me) amounts of stock 4 days after they discovered the breach (in a non-planned sell) is enough that I will no get any farther into bed with them than necessary.

I'm not signing up either. Not only do I not believe that it will do any good, but by signing up, you agree to Equifax's terms including mandatory arbitration:
