I love credit cards so much!

I made the purchase last Sunday, and points still showing as pending. Guess it is confused.

I’ll be on the lookout for more recent DPs. Not sure if this is user error or another hit to bonuses on gift card purchases. DoC seems to be accepting this DP into his Payments Workshop.

If you're doing a paid hotel stay (I know, I know. Who PAYS to stay at hotels, lol?:sad2:) at a chain where you have status from having the card, do you ask for an upgrade? We stayed at a Holiday Inn this weekend, and I used the IHG card (platinum status is supposed to include free upgrades "if available") and for some reason I was afraid to ask. I've never been given one without asking, either. Just wondering if others have had success with asking, or if you really have to have the top status to get upgrades.

Someone’s reporting on DoC that CashStar didn’t earn 3x UR on CIP: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best...-150-e-gift-purchase-cashstar/#comment-563700

For anyone considering th[e] current Best Buy deal through CashStar, you may want to hold out for more DPs. DPs welcome!

I made the purchase last Sunday, and points still showing as pending. Guess it is confused.

Bummed. Should have done CFU. (But I still got in while the $15 codes were instant so I'm not too bummed...)

Another DP that CashStar is now only coding 1x UR on CIP: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/803nbe/comment/dutv1jc?st=JE3M3EC3&sh=ea6259e7

So sometime between last Sunday, 2/18, when the Best Buy deal started and still coded for 3x, and now, it seems CashStar changed how it coded on CIP to 1x.

I purchased late on 2/18 and did not receive bonus.

I’m so sorry. This was one of the perks I liked most about the CIP, when you could stack a Best Buy gift card deal on CashStar with a credit card bonus category. Really reminds you that rules change suddenly and too many good deals have died recently.

Most of the time, they have given us the upgrade without asking. However, if the upgrade isn't offered immediately, I will ask if I remember to ask. I'm not picky about my hotel room so it is rarely on the forefront of my mind. I'm far pickier about my seat on the plane and whether or not there is a decent lounge at the airport. I've only had to ask once or twice in the last few years for if room upgrade was available and it was always honored.

Another DP here. I also purchased late on 2/18 and can confirm I only received 1x.

So, I have seen @gottalovepluto suggest, rather than PC'ing the CIP to a CIC, that we just get the CIC and cancel the CIP. I'm interested :) I've definitely come to love my UR points above all others. My CIP will hit 1-year in May and I am not under 5/25 until June. So, should I just cancel my CIP after my AF hits or before? Then, apply for CIC in June or July? I certainly don't want to hit Chase too hard (CSR 9/16, CSP 1/17, CIP, 5/17, SW+ 10/17) but I may go after marriott personal or biz later this year too. I feel like the apps are spaced nicely since we are in 2-player mode and I've mixed in some other banks. What do you guys think?

We'll keep dh's CIP as long as mortgage payments are going through and coding 3x.

Really sad to see 3x UR from CashStar on CIP die so soon after 5x MR from MPX. Those of you who came over from the Disney Gift Card Deals thread know that feeling when one of your favorite methods suddenly dies, and then more shoes drop, and then you’re left wondering what’s next, and then what’s left? I enjoyed both tricks way too much and reaped a lot of points from them. The last two weeks have been a needed reminder to enjoy the good times while they last, rules change all the time — almost always suddenly and for the worse, and what were good things might’ve also kept me from other things that may be just as lucrative. So long, and thanks for all the fish. Plenty of other fish in the sea.

I'm sorry, Lain. I hadn't used Cashstar with CIP or the 5x MR from MPX but I know, all too well, that awful feeling we all felt when our GC churning came to an end. I just felt like it was one rug after another pulled out from under our feet in quick succession. I kept thinking, surely, something would come back and begin working again. Yet, nothing really ever did :(

I definitely have learned to enjoy the good things while they last, and not to be bitter for what is no longer but thankful for what was. I had an entire 8-night Disney deluxe stay paid for (room, tickets, airfare, food) with free GC's, and I got granite countertops from churned GC's that I cashed out for Lowes. I'm very thankful for that!

This would be a difficult spot for me. If you cancel the CIP before getting approved for the CIC...then get denied...you have neither card :( That CIC signup is SOOOO much better than a product change though!

However, you might be ok here...IF you applied for the CIP in May then the annual fee will likely hit on June 1...and then you would have until the end of June to cancel and avoid paying the AF. So then you could apply for the CIC in early June and make sure you get approved before cancelling. IF the annual fee hits on May 1 though...it would make it a harder decision for me.

Thank you for your thoughts. We will still have dh's CIP regardless. I am not cancelling that since we are currently earning well with that through plastiq. It's really just my CIP. I want the categories for the CIC. That is far more beneficial. I guess I just don't know if it is easier to get approved for the CIC while holding the CIP or after having just cancelled it! I want the CIC signup!!

Duh - I missed that last line :headache:

Then no risk if you have to cancel before applying for CIC. I'd probably cancel in May then Apply in July if I were in your shoes. :)

@SouthFayetteFan makes a fair point about what if you cancel the CIP, to apply for the CIC, only to be denied and have neither card.

Obviously, I don’t know Chase’s algorithm for approval or denial, but my read is the CIP is your only Chase business card. Most people seem to be able to get a second business card from Chase without much problem.

If your CIP’s AF hits closer to June, you could try to keep the CIP while you apply for the CIC, and you may have a fair shot at getting approved unless you’re nearing the limit of credit Chase is willing to extend you (>50% income). (It sounds like you’re thinking about going for a second business card later this year with the Marriott anyway.) Then, cancel the CIP when you get the CIC.

If you cancel the CIP before applying for the CIC, you’ll have no business cards with Chase, lessened your total extended credit (and possibly risk) with Chase, and maybe improved your chances for approval. You won’t have a CIP to product change in case you’re not approved, which could be a good thing because then you’d have to be approved for the CIC if you want those benefits (bonus aside). And you won’t have the CIP credit line to offer to move to open the CIC, but I’ve been seeing a lot of mixed DPs about whether Chase recon is willing to let you reallocate credit to open a new card nowadays.

Another possible reason to keep the CIP is for the referrals. But if DH is keeping his, that’s 5 possible referrals a year that could go on his card. And if DH is keeping his CIP, I’d think canceling your CIP before applying for the CIC might be an easier choice. You’re not really losing any of the benefits or earning ability on the CIP (DH is keeping his), you’re losing the ability to PC, but you’re also dropping a Chase business card from your wallet and I have to think that might play better on an application.

Those are good thoughts @Lain. I do want the ability to PC to the CIC so maybe best to keep my CIP until I am either approved or denied. I think the CIC is a good card, even without the sign-up bonus, so yes, I want to leave an 'open door' to be able to get it. Good point.

I just perused DISchurners, and I didn't see any links for the CIC. So, no one else has it, or there are no helpful links available?

Is credit limit extended combined with personal cards for the 50% of income? I think they only gave me about 8k for the CIP so I'd have plenty of room there. If combined with personal, I'd be way over 50%.

The CIC doesn’t have referrals. And from what I’ve seen, Chase considers personal and business lines together for credit extended. Good luck!

:worship: @Lain - I would have never expected to see a Douglas Adams reference on this thread :lmao:but while we're contemplating an explanation and the meaning and randomness of point building methods and MS opportunities disappearing before our eyes, remember that the answer is always 42 :teacher: :D

From my reading of the fine print on the current offer you're fine, just need to do it and get a purchase on the card in during the first 3 months of having it. (Heck, I had a similar offer on my CSP and they gave me the bonus points before I even got the au card in the mail!)
I asked this a while back too..... I don't see any offers on any of mu cards to add an AU,so I haven't. How do I know if I get any benefits for adding one? I just got CFU but it was pc'ed,no bonus for it initially.

I'll keep those in mind for after I finish with Chase. I would love to go back and explore Escalante more. Its HUGE! My favorite in Utah was Capitol Reef Nat Park - was surprised I enjoyed it more than Bryce/Zion.
we camped near there but didn't get to spend a lot of time there (unfortunate detour) and it was such a great place! We had free apples for lunch that day....
