My dilemma now is that I'm $1750 away from my $10k spend on SPG biz... really $1650 after this walmart grocery order I'm about to place :) But it looks like we're going to owe around $1800 on our taxes. So I can stop using SPG Biz and just put taxes+filing fee+credit card fee on it, and probably end up $100 over MS... or I can keep using it and when we're ready to file, get a new card and use it towards that MS. I think I know how I feel about it ;) Just have to talk to DH. Think I'd lean towards a Marriott Biz card for one of us.

I'm so close to a Disney gift card that when I sent DH & DS shopping today (so I could get work done) I gave DS my phone to do Shopkick at Target. Came back 90 kicks short. I'd have kept going to get that last 100! :(
Bummer! DH doesn't remember to do any of this if I'm not there. Today after we got in the car at Best Buy, he was like, you'll have to check if I did this right. I was like, you had them scan your QR code right? The end! :rotfl:

That is why I gave my phone to DS. DH had his phone, although Shopkick is not on it BC he would never do it. DS is better at it than DH. At age 4, he would use my phone to scan Shopkicks or Target's Cartwheel. He'll be a pro at all this by 18. Or none of it will even be around. Lol.

I've received lots of great advice from here :worship: and of course am back for more :goodvibes I previously had a plan of trying for enough points for Hawaii for summer 2019, which involved having DH go for the SW CP after I receive mine (should get it at the end of this month). Well, talked to DH and plans change! He thinks the two little ones are too young and would rather wait a few years. He also isn't really interested in getting any new cards, at least right now. We're going to Disney this summer, and probably Cali next summer. So, now I'm a little lost what to do next for a new card. I'm 5/24 until Nov. and want to stay away from personal cards so I can try for a UR earning card then. I have a Discover IT, SW Plus, SW Premier, SW Biz, and BoA cashback card currently. I've been thinking about the Amex SPG Biz or the Chase Marriot. The Marriott appeals to me because of the lower spend, but I have two recent Chase cards (Dec and Jan) so I don't think Chase is a good idea right now, right? If I do go for the SPG Biz, any idea how long it might take to receive? I need to buy one PH for this summer's trip, and would like to do it before the upcoming Disney ticket price increase, but that doesn't give me much time because it would be a nice start to the min spend. Any change I'd receive it in time? Any other cards I should consider instead? Thanks so much for any advice! :thanks:

If you went for the Marriott you could get it 2nd day air. You do have to have 30 day between chase business cards.

Took just over a week to get my SPG Biz. They wouldn't expedite it, said it was my first Amex Biz so it had to be delivered via normal USPS. Despite the fact the website said I'd receive my card in 2-3 business after my approval. It really hurts if you're doing this in one player mode. Any chance you can get him to let you do an app and manage the card for him? Even if he has to Recon all he has to do is say he works with you and would like you to speak on his behalf and you could handle the Recon call. (But if it causes too much tension for him I get it! Some things just aren't worth it!)

Is there a 4thQ marriott twitter question? Not that I've gotten any of my points from the previous tweets.

No, it’s just the three. The announcement said up to 1500 points. The 3 questions were 500 points each.

Why not both? You have what, two more months to meet the MSR on the SPG Biz? If you got a new card, you’d likely have three months to meet the MSR on that card. It sounds like you have enough spend in the next few months to do both. If you put your taxes towards finishing the MSR on the SPG Biz, you’d be in the market for a new card anyway. The Marriott Biz is a good choice. That’s my next card coming as I’m finishing up the MSR on my SPG Biz. Money is fungible. It ultimately doesn’t matter if you put your everyday expenses and taxes on the SPG Biz or a new card, as long as you can meet the spend on both.

(Of course, if you have an urgent need for those Starpoints, wrap up the spend on the SPG Biz ASAP and get those points deposited into your account.)

So for the first time...in a long time...I'm at a loss on what card to get next. I gotta spend some time and look into things. Does anybody have thoughts on my likelihood of being approved with Capital One? Here are my stats:

  • 24 new cards in the past 24 months (24/24 lol)
  • Only 4 new cards in the last 12 months
  • Only 2 new cards in the last 6 months
  • (PLUS 7 AMEX biz cards between me and the wife that aren't appearing ;))
  • Inquiries: 2 in Sept 2017; 1 in Aug 2017; 2 in May 2017; 17 inquiries prior to that (total 22 inquiries)
If you know me then you know I have or have had almost every card worth mentioning...my wife goes under 5/24 in April so just trying to buy time until then. I'm considering doing 1 personal card and then I need to stop with personal cards as I can get back under 5/24 myself in 15 months (and we'll be busy with my wife hitting Chase until then anyways).

Cards I'm considering are:
Any thoughts? I know I'm usually the one dishing out the advice here, haha - so interested if anybody has thoughts for me now!

I don't know anything about how Capital One would view your 24/24 status, but since they pull from all 3 credit bureaus (and report their business cards on your personal credit history) my guess is that they don't have a lax attitude about extending credit.

I have the BoA Premium Rewards card and think it is a worthy contender especially if you can get their Preferred Rewards tiered bonus; at the highest level you get 2.625% back on everything and 3.5% on dining/travel, plus the $500 sign up bonus. DoC has a good list of what works for the travel reimbursement even though some charges seem YMMV. EBCI on SW has gotten reimbursed for me. I like that you can redeem any amount of points over 2500, so if you want to get cash back down to the penny you can. In addition, there are BankAmeriDeals which are kind of like AMEX Offers that you activate for your card. I used it to pay some estimated taxes and made a profit on paying taxes so that was nice. Even with Plastiq, I can make a small spread.

What about the Discover card? If you can max out the 5% categories and get double points your first year then you're looking at 3% everywhere (hey, use it with Plastiq for a small profit!) and 10% in the categories. I got $1160 out of my first year with Discover (before Plastiq ever existed, man I could have done so much better if I were a new Discover card holder these days), which is pretty great for a no AF card. They've just nixed some of the card benefits (like extended warranties, purchase protection, some others) so I'd be careful about what gets purchased on that card.

Speaking of no AF cards, the Uber Visa looks pretty interesting (I don't like that it's issued by Barclays, but that's just me, I find their cust svc poor). Really great for folks who eat out a lot.

I wish he would go for that but so far no go! I had previously tried to convince him but he gets irritable when I even bring it up. If we had a clear goal in mind then he might be more open to it. Maybe after this year's trip and once I've done more research for next year. Part of his resistance is that he's just not into Disney and most of my travel plans involve Disney :earboy2:
