I love credit cards so much!

This new hobby may cause me more stress. In Nov 2017, I booked a hotel for a trip in Sept 2018. It does say that the hotel will charge one night as a refundable deposit. But the hotel didn't do that until this Friday. Disappointed this wasn't on a card that I will be working on spend or get extra points for travel. I need to let that go as those plans were made before I started on this points adventure.

Still waiting on my gift of college to deposit in the 529. Friday was 10 business days. It is crazy in today's electronic age that it takes this long. I transferred money from savings to the 529 and it took less than 48 hours.

I just maxed out the 5% category on my Freedom. I would not have tried Apple Pay if not for the bonus points. Even was able to use it when I got my hair cut last week. I love it. So much easier/quicker than using the card.

I was waiting until March to apply for CIP but the wait is killing me! I think I am going to go for the CIP next week. I was rereading what you get extra points for (travel/phone/internet..). Are there extra points on purchases at office stores? I didn't see that. I may need to stock up on gift cards so want to know if it is better to buy at an office store or not.

We all made mistakes before we started this, and I still make mistakes. That is why I ask a million questions here and google a ton.

I want to do the GOF thing but I also cannot understand why it takes so long. It is crazy!

Apple Pay has been a total let down for me....I can't find anywhere to accept it.

CIC has the office store category. CIP is the internet/phone stuff. Alot of people do CIP and after a year change it to a CIC because the categories work better. Sign up for CIP originally though, b/c the bonus is better.

I think goc is making money off the interest or something by holding the funds for three weeks. It’s a turn off. They claim my first redemption hit virginia’s 529 Friday and I should see it this week. Only upside is market was down 4% last week.

I am losing my mind...uuugghhh...

I found flights to PSP for decent price and decent times. Great! I only priced economy, not basic economy since we have kids...United. Cost on united is $435 round trip.

I log on to CUR to try and book using CSR/UR points for 1.5x redemption. Well....not only does it not show all the flights (only shows delta for my return options)...but it jacks up the price to over $600 instead of $435. What in the world!? Negates booking thru the portal. Anyone have any luck calling in and the agent helping?

It's not waived in year 1.

Good luck!

As @havaneselover already said, the $95 AF is not waived the first year. After one year, you can ask Chase to product change your card down to the no fee Chase Ink Cash, which is still a great card because it gives you 5x UR points at office supply stores (think gift cards).

Thank you for your responses. Not sure why I had that in my head but good to know I was wrong and wasn't just using the wrong link or something.

there isnt really a breakdown. i have bookmarked some that was told to someone new that you can read [URL='https://www.disboards.com/threads/i-love-credit-cards-so-much.3528202/page-575#post-58617538' said:

If things are still not clear, feel free to ask. Make sure you tell us what city you reside in or local airport, your vacation spots/dreams(ie location, first class, etc) and what cards you have with opening dates(to calculate your 5/24). Then we can give u ideas where to start.
dont worry, we wont bite... well, some do actually. ;)

Thank you for the links :)
I opened the Amex Blue Cash Everyday Card(for the 3% back on grocery's) almost 2 years ago but no other recent cards. I have the SPG card which I have had for several years and I use that a lot. I would like another card that would help build up travel points. My husband has Marriott points and I have SPG. When we fly, we fly United or Southwest. We prefer United to have actual seats. We fly out of BWI.

Any suggestions on a new card?

Also, when you open a new card, do you tend to close another one? I have the Chase Disney Visa which I find to be pretty useless and wouldn't mind getting rid of it.

Are you interested in applying for business cards? Many of our recommendations start with hitting a Chase Biz card to start.

If you fly Southwest I'd consider getting those cards...there are 2 personal and one Biz and the signup bonuses are worth over $800 in free flights.

No reason to close old cards unless they have an annual fee OR are standing in the way of earning a bonus on that card again. You want your AAoA (average age of accounts) to grow and your utilization % to stay low. Leave those cards open.

I hear you. I looked in the ur portal for tickets from Richmond to Ft. Myers for spring break (ex changed plans last minute and is letting me take the kids to my parents!) and the prices were much higher:( guess I’ll be driving 900+ miles each way. I’m hoarding ur points for London in 2019 and not going to pay basically the same to get to Florida!

If you want UR the CIP is a good one with 80K bonus sign up. Then you can transfer you points to sw or united as needed or book through the UR portal.

Ok so had to share Bc I know you all understand my excitement. Went to BB. Just returned the software and another item. Purchased the software using my 10% off coupon and got a $30 disney gift card to make sure I was over $100. Had them scan my Swagbucks code and B.B. rewards. Used chase pay to make sure I had the $300 total used Incase they claw back from the return. Well I also got Shopkick 15 kicks per $1 when you use chase pay. Now to hope Swagbucks gives me credit for both purchases :-)

For all international travelers, what do you do for money once in foreign country? My daughter is possibly flying to Thailand, without me. She is a AU on my CSP, but I know I always see stuff about Chip and Pin cards, which I don't think the CSP is, and truthfully, don't fully understand or I have also seen things about no fee Debit cards and just use local ATMs. Any tips for spending money abroad?

This is disheartening. I was planning to go 2nd week in Jan/2019 to avoid crowds. Now that sounds like
any other month. Because of school schedules right now the only available for us is Summer (i refuse)
Spring break (crowded) or winter break and that only is until 2nd week in Jan.

I remember the days when going to WDW in mid January was relatively peaceful. o_O
All this talk of busy Jan... I was just catching up on this season of NCIS and McGee had a line where mentions Jan is a perfect time for Epcot :hyper2: Word is out!

Lol yeah i guess it is. I thought i remember reading somewhere that the UK is on holiday and that is why
it is busy but i don't know. This is why i love to cruise because this is their slow time....however looking
at the prices....8-)

I just connected by twitter account to Marriott rewards - what do I do next? I've never done this before. Do I just wait for Marriott to post something and I respond?
Yep. They'll ask a question. Let others answer it and when you see them getting confirmations they are right post EXACTLY what they posted. (It's like cheating in school, but the teacher encourages it.)

keep in mind no fee Debit cards are also true chip and pin cards, they can swipe like a credit card. local atms are for places that take no cards at all. theres a couble no fee debits cards, i just know Charles Schwab is one. There is another one but i dont recall, ill have to ask someone i know about it. Charles Schwab has a no mininum balanace but i think u need some investment account with them to open one. The other one is $2500 minimum balance. Both work great esp in the states when u need money and dont know where the nearest your bank is.
IF you want a true Chip and Pin credit card, look into any barclay cards.

It sounds like they will be posting more than one question this time:

Extra Points Sundays is back by popular demand for #SBLII! Watch out for questions throughout the game for a chance to score up to 1,500 #RewardsPoints.

We fly out of BWI also and will it being a SW hub, we have the SW Visas for the CP. DH had the CP for 2016 and 2017 and I just got CP for 2018 and 2019. It’s terrific to only have to purchase 2 tickets instead of 3. And I haven’t paid OOP for a flight in years, I just use RR points. I just purchase EBCI to ensure we get on the plane early. I don’t mind since our flights are otherwise free.

I travel to Germany for work and usually just stop at the ATM at the airport and get local currency that way. I do get charged a small fee by my bank, but it still beats the currency exchange windows.
