I love credit cards so much!

I signed up and got a date of 9/11 to enroll but didn't get a message saying I was affected or not. I did my mom's, exact same process, and her's came up saying she wasn't affected and then I had to continue on to get the enrollment date. Mine went straight from continue after confirming I wasn't a robot to here's your enrollment date. My mom's date is 9/14 and I did it less than 5 min after mine.

Did anyone else that signed up get a message or not get a message?
No one got a message, except if you put in fake info it says you weren't affected but can still sign up for credit monitoring. The HILLARIOUS part? The TrustedID to monitor your credit is a subsidiary of Equifax. They get to pay themselves to "monitor" their mess.

Personally, I'm not going to continue the enrollment. Between hiring themselves and their execs selling small (to them at least! 1 milliion USD$ is a lot to me) amounts of stock 4 days after they discovered the breach (in a non-planned sell) is enough that I will no get any farther into bed with them than necessary.

Today's epiphany:

Rather than spend $45 to renew my Sam's Club membership in pursuit of discounted Disney gift cards and a possible extra 5% cash back if Freedom includes Wholesale Clubs in Q4, I realized that DUH, I get 10% cash back from my Discover It (first year holding the card) at Target this coming quarter, and I don't have to pay any sort of membership fee at all!

And THEN I realized I can make the purchase through the Rapid Rewards Shopping portal to earn RR points while I'm at it.

So the way I figure it, the $45 I would have spent renewing the Sam's membership went towards the Disney Premier Visa's $49 annual fee, and I'm getting a $200 Disney gift card out of that (once I hit the $500 spend).

Winning! Lots of winning over here! :D I DO love credit cards so much!

The exact same thing happened to me. No confirmation, but an enrollment date of 9/12. I need to do my husband to see what it says for him.

hehe, never pay $45 for Sams Club Membership. wait for a promotion and get it for $20. :]

My mom's info isn't fake and also reading others go the message that they weren't impacted, so people are getting messages. But I agree that I won't be continuing with their enrollment.

Yeah I got it half-price last year, but it's about to expire on the 10th, and I'm reluctant to pay $45 to renew, even with the $10 gift card that comes with it. Meh.

Fingers crossed for you. I know a few who are evacuating and they are north of you. Good luck.

Thanks! We need it!

I haven't been following the news this week, but another hurricane?! My thoughts are with @calypso726 and her DH, as well as @wendow and family and @belle1986 and her DS, who if I remember correctly are at WDW this week. Take care!

Yup, another one and she is 400 miles wide and freaking scary. Thanks!

are you hunkered down or did you get out of Florida?

btw, theres an interest post on reddit about using IFTTT to retweet and auto tweet Marriott's hashtag. you can gain 50pts per day. 18k points per year!

Link to the reddit post please. :) I could set up an IFTTT with a dummy twitter account for points. That is 6k SPG points for doing nothing. Enough for 1-2 nights at some SPG properties. The near-Venice hotel we booked is just 3k points on the weekend, so that could cover 2 nights of our hotel by next October!

I had mine all set up and linked accounts, but then my points didn't post... because "error." I have my account set up through Ritz Carlton, not Marriott so that must be it so keep that in mind.

DH's CSP card arrived yesterday. When he applied, he asked me if it would be a fancy card like my CSR and I told him that I didn't think it was metal or anything. Well, I was wrong. It is metal and looks very fancy indeed, honestly more so than the CSR card. That made DH strangely happy. :p

DH is eyeing the new iPhone 8, so that right there will help quite a bit towards the minimum spend. Plus with all of the baby items that we still need to buy, we will probably already be half way towards the minimum. The rest of the 2k can easily come from organic spending over the next 2-3 months.

After we have completed the CSP for DH and we have started daycare payments in January, I am going to try for the Ink Preferred. I want to try for the SW CP at the end of 2018 (for 2019/2020), so I don't want to apply for anything that would put me over for 5/24 between now and the end of 2018. I am currently at 5/24, but will drop down to 4/24 this November and then down to 3/24 in November 2018. Daycare will cover 3k of the 5k minimum spend, so it wouldn't be that hard for us to reach it and another 80k UR points will be really nice for some future trips.

Thanks for the link. I just set up two IFTTT applets using my "couponing" twitter account. One applet should tweet the hashtags everyday at 8:15am for 50 points (It just posted a few minutes ago, so I know it is working) and the other will retweet Marriott's posts so that I can get any of the bonus points they offer for retweeting certain posts. Hopefully this will work. I will probably open a Marriott account and set up an a dummy twitter account for DH too, since that could be another few free nights each year.

I wonder how long this will last, but might as well take advantage while I can.

Boys... DF was very happy to get a CSR because it was fancy, and also because he said he felt like I gave him his mancard back so he can pay for dinner again :rotfl2: I thought about putting a label on it that said mancard. And most of the times we'd go to eat since I got my CSR last October, they still bring the bill back to him. Maybe it didn't help that I tend to call my CSR my fancy card, and call UR points Chase points, since he doesn't keep up on churner-speak.

The label comment makes me laugh except that DH actually put a label on his Freedom card that says, "Restaurants, Movie Theatres 5x." He kept forgetting to use that card when he went out to eat. I assume he will be changing his label every quarter now.

I put labels on DH's cards too, and he still asks me which one to use.
