I love credit cards so much!

I'm unfamiliar with AA miles. Are they generally worth 1 cent a piece? If that's the case, then the hotel prices in miles on the AA site don't seem to match up to Disney prices. They are really high. What am I not understanding about the benefit of using AA miles? Is it just that they are easy to get so it doesn't matter what they charge?
When I last looked the prices were same with AA as Disney (including promotions available) and AA miles were 1cpp towards hotels.

I feel like that can't be counted on....why would SWA take a loss like that? that would essentially double the value of that 30k then IMHO- and I also feel like since this is all new, taking that advice and counting on a double dip on the CP points is big leap...

Competition. They want ppl to fly with them. They have some pretty stiff competition now with Alaska/Virgin, there was a reason why they tried the first time around, except that one was 50k points + CP with only $2k? spendings. The deal itself is not that great imo. Thinkin about it like Disneyland. The more ppl who use CP, the more the planes will be full, the other half of the CP would most likely unable to fly due to planes being full.
the original deal is still the better one. biz+personal, 5k spendings in total for 2 years worth of CP.

I know MDE is very buggy, but maybe the next feature added should be paying off your room with a gift card or CC via the app rather than waiting at the front desk. I would very much appreciate that enhancement!

That would be awesome! If we can see the folio then we should be able to pay it as well on the app.

You and me, girl, in the same boat :) As usual lol! I have the spg pers up this month (for dh) and his spg biz in March and then my spg pers and biz right behind those. I spent some time looking at resorts today that we could use the free nights at. There are lots of lovely options but most of what comes up on the blogs are int'l locations. That just isn't the season of life our family is in right now. I'm leaning towards cancelling the cards but I'm not wanting to get on Amex's bad side so really trying to find a valuable use for the FN certs so I can justify keeping the cards open for at least another year.
Not sure if it interests you, but I just saw that there is a cat 4 residence inn near Universal. I was thinking I could string a couple certs together for a long weekend.

no, you need mailers cuz they dont contain the 24 month bonus restriction language...
if it is your last one, then u can use anything.
How do you get mailers? The only mailers I’ve ever gotten have been discover it which I won’t be getting

u can either buy one or sign up all your pet rocks up for AA mileage program.
Pet rocks :rotfl2:

I've flown AA exactly 1 time for work and have an account. I wonder if i've ever received a business mailer? I will keep my eyes out.

There's no requirement to keep the money in the checking accounts for the bonus, but to waive the monthly fee it's the combined balance of the Spend & Reserve accounts that counts for the 2k min. Unless you move a bunch of money over to the Growth account and make the 15k "combined average monthly balance of PNC consumer deposit accounts, loans, and/or investments" (you went for the $200 Performance Spend bonus right? with the 2k requirements? that's the terms for that VW)
After day 45, downgrade to Virtual Wallet which only requires $500 to keep fee free (or $500 DD monthly). Then more the rest of the money into Growth for the higher interest?

That was my plan, so I hope I've understood it correctly.

Is that the same one that is part of the 'marriott village' that @calypso726 has mentioned? I am willing to consider that one for our F&N cert if I cannot come up with another option.

I wonder if I am looking in the same place or if the prices change when you log in, because moderates are showing at 40k+ a night.

Yep, that's a good plan. But while waiting for the bonus you can do above. Also, the Growth account doesn't get as good of an interest rate with the plain VW vs the Spend or Select I found. When I had the Select account I had like 1.5 or something like that, downgrade to the basic VW and it was less than 1%, I upgraded back to the Spend to avoid a fee and the rate was around 1% I think. I'm in PA so I don't get targeted for the 2+ rates but I would suspect a similar pattern there based on how they advertised the accounts anyway. It would be nice to be wrong though for your sake :)

Yes, just the $200 bonus. Sounds like I should just leave the 2k where it's at and I could move some money in from Ally to the spend account.

I see on DoC a separate savings account with PNC that you can also fund with $2000 on a card. No bonus offer, but seems to be pretty decent interest. Has anyone opened and funded both with a card?

I came across it on PL when looking for a Disney hotel. Then I popped over to Marriott to see the category. Maybe a good option for a free week in Orlando to use up our certs if we can't upgrade them?
