Chase - loved that bonus, checking came quickly and then savings was just at 90 days (got it last week)

AA - have a few things first but think i will go this route. @wendow which biz are you going for. The 75k for 4K of the lesser offer?

Marriott free nights - we have 5 cards - SPG LUX, x2 SPG biz, x2 Marriott premiers. That’s one 50k and 4 35k nights. I’m keeping all for now. There are some decent hotels in NYC and we go a couple x a year. Plus we live near Boston and sometimes do a night in the city. Never are any of those options less than $95/night. Now if I didn’t have the card are these trips we would still be doing? Prob not so def some justification there. Haha. We see how this year goes and maybe lose the chase ones first

1) $50 increments, it's a pain
2) you can apply only one booking online but 3 if you call it, it's a pain

TBH, I fly DL a lot and this year I changed all 3 of my cards earning benefits-2 to American for gc resale, 1 to United for actual fees I knew I'd accrue, not having a CC or status with them. Obviously everyone's situation is different but the gcs aren't user friendly. I actually did have several fees covered by DL that I didn't know would be- flight change fee and the tax on award fees, so there's that to consider as well.

I agrre with this. I have hundreds in DL gift cards that I haven't/cannot use. You cannot pay for seat upgrades, etc with a giftcard. Fares only.

When I called in to apply multiple gift cards once it worked but the call was over an hour talking with a non native English speaker and very painful.

Tagging @wendow too — Keep in mind that since these Citi AA cards are MasterCards, you can use them to pay your mortgage via Plastiq, which should make it easy to hit MSRs on the higher offers repeatedly for a relatively small fee.

Would you find $55 of value from the CSR?
  • Higher earning rate on travel/dining
  • Higher redemption value with CSR vs CSP
  • Priority Pass (I know you mentioned you don't need the double lounge, but some terminals are easier with certain lounge types)
  • GE/TSA Pre I already paid for mine, but find value in having this for renewal. Does everyone in your travel party already have it?
Personally I am going to downgrade my CSP to a Freedom after a year and keep the CSR. I don't foresee myself closing or changing my CSR unless Chase significantly increases its AF while removing the $300 travel credit.

The breakeven seems to be $3300 travel/food spend on CSR. I can easily hit that (sadly). I'm still not 100% decided. We have the lounges like I said and we've both got Global Entry already too. I don't know why this decision is nearly paralyzing me. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of life.

I get it, its a big decision. You don't want to make the wrong one. I say go for CSR (even though the CSP is prettier)!

Do you plan to do any redemptions through the UR portal? The break even point for that by itself is $413.50.

Boy the Cap One Venture Bonus was quick. It was showing in my account the day after I met the minimum spend. So, $850 in there to use.

I used DH's and Mine Barclay Arrival + Bonuses to get DW Tickets from Undercover Tourist. I still have almost 6,000 points in my account and almost 25,000 points in DH's account. Does anyone know of any place to get a Disney or Carnival Gift Card that would code as travel? I'm thinking I can probably buy Cruise Cash for Carnival online - just not sure if it will for sure code as travel to use the remaining funds. Anyone know?

I also have 2 SPG and 2 Marriott Cards. I think I will keep them through this year and see what happens. Have no plans for the certificates at this point. May just need to plan some weekends somewhere and use them. Hoping to keep AMEX happy by paying the annual fee. Not sure if it will work but worth a shot..

I can't move my money from the PNC spend account to the growth account while waiting for the bonus, can I? That's a better interest rate than Ally, so I'd be happy to park more money there if that's the case!

There's no requirement to keep the money in the checking accounts for the bonus, but to waive the monthly fee it's the combined balance of the Spend & Reserve accounts that counts for the 2k min. Unless you move a bunch of money over to the Growth account and make the 15k "combined average monthly balance of PNC consumer deposit accounts, loans, and/or investments" (you went for the $200 Performance Spend bonus right? with the 2k requirements? that's the terms for that VW)

I'm just not getting all of the 'logic' in this..... the original 30k points earned counts towards a CP... so you need another biz cc anyway for the 2nd year.... plus extra spend on top of that ??? would they even allow the 30k to count towards a same year pass? since it got you the first, wouldn't that be counting that 30k twice within one calendar year towards a cp,which I can't imagine that working...(?)
pretty much, the 30k does count towards the 2nd year CP. it only counts once as its 110k earned with in a year.

someone posted on reddit using 23x$50 delta gift cards yesterday... lol

I feel like that can't be counted on....why would SWA take a loss like that? that would essentially double the value of that 30k then IMHO- and I also feel like since this is all new, taking that advice and counting on a double dip on the CP points is big leap...

Any SW points earned via the CC will be companion pass qualifying points. There is nothing “special or different” about this 30k. The CP thru the end of the year is just an additional benefit as well.
