I love credit cards so much!

I have several, starting from last week. None are pending and they all show as 1x rewards in my UR activity. I really don’t feel like calling chase but will most likely have to since they are unresponsive over Twitter chat for the last 25 mins.
ugh, thanks Please share if you get an answer!

Everything has changed so much with Chase/Disney and AMEX since I started following this thread in early 2018 when we got our first cards. I was gone for awhile and I have tried to catch up but there's so much I probably missed. I would like to get some new cards soon but I need some advice and suggestions of which cards I should consider next. Before the Chase/Disney shut down, I was planning to max out UR but now I don't know. Maybe a hotel card would be good since we travel a lot for sports and family events. I can always use some points for free hotel rooms. But I'm still mad about Disney. Should I stay with the UR Plan? Here's what we have:

ME: SPG biz - 4/18
CSR/CSP - 5/18

DH: Disney - 2/17
CIP - 3/18
CIC - 5/18

I have some hefty CL on my CSR/CSP cards. Should I decrease either/both of them before I apply for any new cards? If so, what is the recommended method to do that?

I guess the Chase rules are still 5/24 but now every Chase card counts? What about Chase business cards? Are there new rules on them? What about Amex cards, business and/or personal? I remember reading they tightened up the rules regarding churning the cards but the SPG biz is my first and only, so I was thinking that didn't apply to me.

I’d stick with URs since you can book hotels through Chase with your CSR and your not limited to one brand.
Maybe next have your husband refer you for a CIP...he gets the 20,000 UR bonus and you get 80,000 URs...since your CLs are high you can either SM or call Chase to lower
You need to be under 5/24 to get approved for a Chase business card, but they don’t add to your 5/24 count

Just curious, those of you who track your budget, do you put your redeemed credit card offers in their respective category or do you balance it against your CC fees? For example, the Amex Exxon offers, would those go in your gas category or would you put in a category to offset your $95 fee?

The AmEx offers, I put against the respective categories. I think of it as a discount I'm getting on the gas, or groceries, or cruise, etc. The CSR travel credit I put against the annual fee though. The only way I can justify the fee is to think of it almost good as cash. When we get DH's AmEx Gold, I'll have to decide what to do. Leaning towards put the dining credits against dining and airline credit against travel. Unless I sell the airline GC, then the proceeds will go against AF.

To lower my CLs, do I specify the CL amount I want, or do I just tell them I want to lower them?

Thought I had no immediate use of the Hilton points when I FOMO'd and applied for the Hilton Biz. Well, I forgot that I had my eye on the Doubletree San Pedro for our cruise out of Los Angeles. Rates are really high though for our date (about $320 a night with tax), so I booked a Courtyard near LAX with 18,000 URs for 2 rooms (taking my parents). We would have to pay $15 for hotel parking and $126 for port parking.

The Doubletree is 30,000 HH points. Read some reviews that sounded like parking is free even without a park and cruise package (not available with points). So I just called them up, initial response was you need a park and cruise package. But then asked my status (we'll be gold with the Hilton Biz) and said they can do it as a courtesy. Yay! I value the URs at 1.5x or $270 plus the parking charges will be $411. So feel like I am getting almost 0.7 cpp compared to the alternative. But compared to best available rate direct, I'm getting 1.07 cpp. Not bad for HH points I think? :D

Here's a question: how do you all value the Infinite perks of the CSR? Do you use them? Are they infinitely better than the perks from Amex plat? Sorry for the pun.

I'm doing thinking and scheming.

Another question--have you used Chase Pay at that ShopRite before? During that promo in the fall?

Another question for all you nurses. Would it be more beneficial for DD to volunteer at a hospital or to get her CNA before starting college. Which one do you think would increase her chances of getting into nursing school?
Def CNA. As a volunteer you really can’t even touch the patients. I went to a college with a co-op program and started working as a CNA my sophomore year (6 months work, 6 months school, 5 year program). When I graduated I had worked at most of the top hospitals in Boston in a variety of specialties. My last job literally said to me pass your boards and you have a job. On my current unit we hire our CNA nursing students all the time (well the good ones, lol)

We ended up cancelling it. The food honestly didn’t sound appealing to me or Dh. Kona sounds delicious. The only reason for going to artist point was for characters and I don’t think that’s a good enough reason
There are a few good you tube reviews. We are going Bc we want to meet the evil queen and dwarfs more than worrying about the food.

Konas is delicious. I don’t think you will be disappointed!

I’m not all that impressed by the storybook dining menu options either.

When we were in Maui, Amex Plat concierge was unable to secure us a reservation at Mama Fish House for dinner. They got us one several days later but for lunch which we booked with them. On a whim I called the CSR Infinite concierge line a few minutes later and they were able to secure a same night dinner reservation at Mama's Fish House. I don't put a value on one over the other. Both are just icing on the cake.

The bank would be able to see the AMEX credit cards despite no hard pull, once they report to your credit report so like the AMEX gold definitely by now would be reported to your personal credit report. If I were you I would probably hold off on any new credit card applications until after your mortgage goes through. I know on my last mortgage application I had to state why I had gotten my last two credit cards, I just stated "travel reward credit cards" and the application went through without a problem, but those two cards were the ones I had opened in the last year. I think the general opinion is to open no new credit cards for 6 months to 1 year prior to a mortgage app, just to appear less risky to the undewriters.

I’ve been pondering this too. I’m laying low on DHs in case we sell soon. I wasn’t doing this hobby at our last move, but I do remember having to state what each hard pull was for in a letter. There were no further questions after that.

I am a loan processor (or was LOL). you will have to write a letter or sign a form stating if each inquiry resulted in any new debt. If it’s already on your credit report, that is the end of it. If it’s not they will get a credit supplement to verify the balance and the payment. Unless uou have to have a manual underwrite they should really not care any further as long as they have the payment amount in your debts and a clean payment history. I’m guessing any of us here who churn have good enough credit that an automated approval should be easy.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to lay low on applications too until I know our plans. I don't want to have to explain a bunch of hard pulls for business cards to get a mortgage.
