you got it right.... I used my points to book P2 a flight- when we get the Cp in a couple of weeks -it's P2's acct getting the CP----- so when he gets the CP,I can add the companion booking to his already booked flight, right?(?) without having to change anything else
Yes. You log into his account and pull up his upcoming flight info. There is a little hyperlink where you click that says "add companion."

Back in 2008, my daughter bought a house. She had been busy MS'ing with Amex and travelers checks. Buying $3k once a week or so - withdrawing and depositing over and over for the points. Her lender made her write many letters, but it did not hold up the purchase.

Yeah this is a whole different issue. This is a large deposit issue. We have to document all large deposits to confirm they are not being paid to buy the house by an interested party and are not money laundering. This can kill a deal to have lots of large unexplained deposits. I have one underwriter that would not have been ok with it. She is super picky and crabby.

Warning: long post ahead...
So DH is at 3/24. We have a couple big purchases coming up which will total around $3k.
We have no immediate plans for the points, but we have about 50,000 SW Rapid Reward points (plus companion pass till end of year), 10,000 American Airlines points, about 135,000 Marriott points, and about 60,000 UR.
We have no plans for using any of these in the immediate future; however, I have been toying with the idea of a couple vacation spots: Disneyland, Yellowstone, and a Disney Cruise (we would do one of these, but not all 3).
DH currently holds
3 SW cards (one is a business), a Chase Freedom, and a CSP.

What should be his next card?

First off...if that’s a long post you are a DISchurner of few words ;

Depending on how recent your last Chase card was...how about a CIP?? Seems like that would be your best move :). 85k URs :)

IF you have gotten a Chase card in the last 45ish days or are trying to keep it slow with Chase, maybe you look to a Citi AA biz or some other Biz card.

1 trip and 1 transaction.
I did two also - one transaction. She didn’t bat an eye and it went through.

When we were in Maui, Amex Plat concierge was unable to secure us a reservation at Mama Fish House for dinner. They got us one several days later but for lunch which we booked with them. On a whim I called the CSR Infinite concierge line a few minutes later and they were able to secure a same night dinner reservation at Mama's Fish House. I don't put a value on one over the other. Both are just icing on the cake.
I keep forgetting about the benefit. I have a CSR. What have you used it for?

His last card was last year. Maybe March? I’d have to double check. Would you still do the CIP over the Citi AA?
I was also toying with the idea of referring him for a Marriott card, but I’m apprehensive because since the merger, our favorite SPG hotels are unattainable with points (or simply just won’t book them on points out of principle.)
Thoughts?

CIP is unequivocally the first card I would recommend to anybody. To me it is the best and most lucrative offer out there. I’m surprised you don’t have one yet as it seems everybody has one here. (I used to feel like the only one who didn’t have one until I got under 5/24 and joined the movement).

Also should add that the current Marriott referral offer is terrible. It’s nights instead of points. Follow up Q since were strictly talking your P2...do you have a CIP?

I agree with this. I am actually salivating at the thought of the URs you will earn. :yay:

Oh lol - I’m referring to your spouse as P2 (player 2) :)

Will you be under 5/24 anytime soon / are you actively trying to get under 5/24 by focusing on biz cards for you?
I tried for the SW business card last year to get the companion pass, but I was shot down.
I’m actually not trying for any currently because my identity was stolen and it’s a giant pain for me to get a card with anyone but Chase at this point. For some reason, Chase is the only company that sees the fraud alert on my account and calls to ask if it was me that applied. Everyone else will demand I send in copies of my social security card, license, etc. over FAX! I’m just not comfortable with doing that. So I’m trying to def get under 5/24. I believe that happens in June.

ETA: I was under 5/24 when I applied for the business card. I was told I was shot down for it because my business was “too new,” but who actually knows.

I still don’t have one, and we are both back to 5/24 until I think April. Honestly I am a bit scared of Chase after my experience in November.

Cool - great details!

I’d think about having your husband go for a CIP now (consider using a DISchurner link to support a DISer). Then when you’re under 5/24 he could refer you! That would be a “crap-ton” of URs :) (that’s a technical term meaning “a plethora” :P LOL)

I know I'm not the only person on here who is not interested in trying for business cards. I don't have a business and am not interested in pretending I do.

Oh pish posh (to quote Mrs. Potts). We chalked that one app up to being cursed by lord Voldemort. You obviously killed the horcrux and are good to go with Chase now :)

I guess I could qualify that statement to say “basically everybody who is applying for biz cards has a CIP”. I do understand there are some who don’t do biz cards and that is fine.
