I love credit cards so much!

@LynnTH As an RN I think it is a really awesome field to get into because you can go so many different directions with it and, depending on where you live, the pay can be really lucrative. I have only been a nurse for 5 years and I make $41 an hour--new grads are starting at $36. I don't have my BSN because our local nursing program offered the ADN and the pay is only 1$ more an hour at my hospital so I didn't feel it was worth the time/cost to go on further.
That being said I have looked at listings for other states (I am in Wa) and the pay can be really low, in the 20's :scared:. I think I may have a very different outlook on nursing if I was, say, on a medical floor with 8 patients and only being paid $25 an hour. I work L&D and have less then zero interest in working in any field that doesn't involve pregnant ladies or babies :duck:. I would LOVE to learn NICU but we don't have one and I don't want to add 45 minutes to my drive to get to a hospital with one.

Anyway I personally would recommend it but that's just me.

Chase United Visa: Get 1,000 United Bonus Miles by Linking Card in MPX App

If you've got a Chase United Visa, I assume you got it because you fly United and can use the miles. If you're not already using United’s MPX app, get on it because you can earn United miles (0.5-5 miles/$, and up to 10 miles/$, depending on merchant and promos) by buying e-gift cards to merchants you shop and dine at anyway, often in the exact amount due for your cart or bill, and just about instantly while at the cash register or checkout. If you don't already have your Chase United Visa linked to MPX, this promo is a no-brainer — 1,000 United miles just for linking your United card — and having a United card linked to MPX gets you an additional 25% bonus miles on every purchase — whether or not you pay with the United card.

If you have a CSP/CSR/CIP/CIC, you should also link them to MPX because MPX is supposed to "pass through" your gift card purchase transaction to the underlying category code of the merchant for which you're buying the gift card. That means, for example:
  • If you buy a gift card to Domino’s, you’d earn 5 United miles/$ + 25% bonus miles from MPX just for having your United card linked and 3x UR if you pay with a CSR (or 2x UR on the CSP and CIC).
  • If you buy a gift card for AirBnB, you’d earn 2 United miles/$ + 25% bonus miles from MPX and 3x UR if you pay with the CSR or CIP.
  • If you buy a gift card to Staples/Office Depot/Office Max, you’d earn 3 miles/$ for Staples and 4 miles/$ for OD/OM + 25% bonus miles from MPX and 5x UR if you pay with a CIC. (Note, Staples/OD/OM do not allow buying other GCs with their GCs.)
This is because MPX passes through your gift card transaction to the merchant’s category coding, and certain merchants trigger Chase’s bonus categories (dining, travel, office supply stores), giving you the opportunity to stack. (Don’t forget to also stack with shopping portals or shopping apps in-store for more cash back, points or miles.) For more info:

Note that you may be able to find gift cards to certain merchants cheaper from the occasional promos on eBay, PPDG, office supply and grocery stores, gift card resale marketplaces, etc., but MPX is much more convenient (on your phone!), lets you buy the exact amount you need for most merchants (so you don’t have any leftover balance on your gift card or bill), and is great in a pinch (when you need it so you’re not tying up money in gift cards).

Just did my BBY purchase for $100 Disney GC with a VGC and Swagbucks. Fortunately I got a good cashier and when I mentioned I had a VGC, she said “I’m not sure it’ll work but you can try it.” Not sure if this is universal, but I used the last 4 of the card as my PIN and it went through no problem. Woohoo! Now hopefully no issues with Swagbucks crediting. Picked up $200 in Disney GC today with another $100 left to get. Now up to $950 in GCs.

What’s nice is I’ve been using up the credit on my SPG Biz where my magical rate was refunded to that card. I realize that this was money I’ve already spent, but because I’m spending off the credit it feels like I haven’t spent anything haha

Thanks. Yeah I think this is the way she is leaning. Would be nice to graduate college and be pretty much guaranteed a job in your field. She may look into getting her CSN this summer at local community college or look at volunteering at the hospital. Hopefully that would increase her chances for getting accepted in the nursing program.

How long does it take for the 10x chase pay bonus from Shoprite to post? When I checked my URs I’m only showing 1x points.
When did you do the transaction? Is it no longer a pending transaction?

Slightly concerned because I have a CF, CSP, and CSR for this promotion :worried:

Will return to read all this when I have more time--thank you :-)

Is this advice if I have a "business"? Wondering why I should hang up. We actually have a real business (rentals). Thanks! :)

We have seen some DP where legit business owners getting blindsided by recon questions and denied. Suggestion would be at the end where u have nothing to lose to talk to recon. Calling the regular rep, u find out ur reason of ur 7-10 days, if it's just verification, then it is simple fix. If it's not, u just wait for the letter... Knowing why u were denied, u can build ur case mentally and recon them.

But it's still up to u, u can call.

Any reason I shouldn’t buy the $200 VGC at Staples and split pay between my two Chase cards with 30% offer, then use VGC to buy discounted Disney GCs at BJs when they go on sale? I know it wouldn’t max the Chase offer but it would be 19% off plus hopefully 8% off at BJs. I do have 3 cards with Chase offer, so maybe split payment 3 ways?
That seems like a good idea to me! I did split pay with 3 cards at staples for my Disney GCs.

I have several, starting from last week. None are pending and they all show as 1x rewards in my UR activity. I really don’t feel like calling chase but will most likely have to since they are unresponsive over Twitter chat for the last 25 mins.

Staples depends on the cashier. I did 7 last time. Could have gotten more but wanted more of the spend to go on a new card. Thinking of doing this again to hold us over till I get a new card next month.

Just as a DP ... booked a room at the Hilton Bonnet Creek using the semi flex option. $250 credit from the Aspire posted a few days later. We signed up for the card on Jan 30th many years ago and upgraded in Nov. I never called to confirm the actual anniversary date, but it would be nice to get two credits this year. The semi-flex option would seem to work to get two $250 credits from one reservation if timed just right since you pay for the first night when booking. The best part is the semi flex option can be cancelled prior to 7 days before arrival date if plans change.

Touring plans found me a dinner at storybook dining-artist point this morning! It’s not until 7:10 so I’m hoping we still get something earlier but if not we’ll take it!
When are you going? I have a couple ADRs for late February that I’m going to cancel bc DH and the kids will not eat the food. (Yes, I’m mad at them lol.)
