I love credit cards so much!

Thanks, I did look there but I wasn't sure that was current since it says since Sept 2016 on it :) Trying to see if my credit union deposit counts before I go changing my payroll.
Yeah, it's a little misleading but the DPs are still being updated. Just look at the latest links next to the institution you want to use.
The good thing with Chase is you'll know within 2 weeks if it worked or not so you have time to try something else. They post the bonus pretty consistently the Tuesday following the DD. If you don't get it by Wednesday that week, maybe wait for the next Tuesday. If still nothing then try something else. But usually if you get the deposit in by Friday, that next Tuesday you see the bonus.
(I think this is also why there's so many DPs cuz you can easily and quickly tell if something worked or not, unlike some other banks where you have to wait until the end of the promotion period to find out if you got it)

I have those but was thinking I'd be all smart and use my staples 30% offer first.... you know, spent, and still nothing. I dislike jumping thru hoops to save a few bucks. the amex offers seem to refund almost immediately with no effort. OR am I the only one who doesn't like the chase offers so far? (I like the idea, but not the execution of them so far)

The Chase offers seem to resolve themselves one at a time in under two weeks from the time of purchase to letting you know they are pending and then actually reducing the amount owed on the card.

I don't think this too bad, actually, as I see people wondering when stuff is going to 'finally' post all the time.

Amex seems to be better at letting you get an email on the spot and then giving you the credit in 3 -4 days. BUT - amex offers have been less than stellar in the last 6 months. I felt lucky to get the Lowes and Staples 10% offer this time around. I did not get it last time when everyone else was maxing it out. And it is 10% - I'm looking at more usable offers on my Chase cards right now - PetSmart right when I needed it, Starbucks, 5 Guys, Le Madeleine, Pain Quotidien, Advance Auto - I need windshield wipers, Lowes, Staples, and NO WINE OFFERS, lol.

Anyone try this? I have a hunington right up the street. I have a DBA (though it might be expired now) I don't have an EIN but I have a state tax id. I'd likely open the account in my business name if I can find all the stuff. Seems easy to get $750 from reading.

I didn't see a response to this so I wanted to let you know I just completed this bank bonus. They 100% made me get an EIN. That being said, it was SUPER easy (we do rental properties and have since 2012, pay taxes, but have never had an EIN. They didn't care!) I got a free EIN and was sent an email in about 5 min. Printed that out and took it into my local Huntington Branch. Made my deposit. Card took awhile to come. Made my minimum purchases mostly at McDonalds getting $1 bags of ice (kitchen remodel). Opened card 9/30 and $750 bonus hit 12/6.

Y'all have me worried when I go for my next Amex this month. I'm going for the Amex Everyday for my next balance transfer.

I have 4 cards and I've been a member since 1995 (the Amex Optima in college was the first card I ever got).

  • SPG Biz (which I spent like CRAZY on until the CSR) since 2006.
  • Delta Gold (personal) 10/17
  • Hilton Ascend (was surpass) 10/17
  • Hilton Aspire 12/18
So I'm hoping Amex plays nice! I'll have to see if my mom can refer me for the Everyday. I think she has it, and it would be nice to throw points her way. Though she has about 90 bazillion.

Her house burnt down Feb 2017. I told her to open new cards to rebuy everything, but she just wanted to use her Amex for everything or her discover. I think we dropped easily 100k on those cards! I was sick thinking of all the points she could have earned from opening new cards! UGH. She could have bankrolled our trip to Ireland we want to take. Plan was to go for my DD's 18th and be in Ireland on St. Patty's day (her bday), but my mom has stage 4 cancer (she had breast cancer 19 years ago...came back in her spine...she feels from the stress of the fire), so I think our timeline is going to be sped up to next year :(

I was on my ex's SPG personal as an AU. We've been divorced almost a year and he still hadn't removed me. That took the #5 slot if that's how amex plays. So I just called to remove myself. How long should I wait before applying for the Amex Everyday? I do spend on all my Amex (the delta doesn't get much love, but I do use it) so I hope no pop-up. I'm just wondering how long I need to give the "now open" #5 space before I try.

Do you still have the Optima? I used mine to refer myself to the Rose Gold card. My two old cards were Optima and SPG personal, and then 3 cards in a short time in 2018. I think you will be successful. I will probably never get rid of the Optima - no annual fee and long credit history plus is an MR card.

Source, in case you didn't know :)

Although I've seen 'The Dance' a few times, I never noted the phrase. I just took it as a southern expression since half the people who worked for me originated from anywhere south of Maryland.

Ha, that's too funny! I'm also south of Maryland, but I've probably seen every Seinfeld episode at least five times. I drive DH nuts when he's telling me a story by saying "you know, there's a Seinfeld episode about that."

I only did one cruise but for me it wasn't a debate...I never buy extra insurance for trips but the cruise seemed like a lot of $$ to lose if something went wrong and one of us couldn't go etc. So I got the pricier insurance that cost around $200 for my own peace of mind, and it covered my concerns. I can't remember the insurance website I used, but I found it on cruise critic while researching. We didn't need it but I was less anxious.
The cruise amounts are my biggest worry! Like at least if flights are SW points I can cancel them easily, hotels - maybe, maybe not. Park tickets should at least be able to be re assigned to someone else/credited towards whatever day they'd be used in the future... but the cruise after PIF date - :crazy2:
Kroger gas question--I know some cards don't count it as a gas station. So my options are Chase Freedom, or SPG Biz. Can anyone remind me if any of these classify Kroger gas as a gas station?
Both of those have counted as gas at Kroger for me. Even though you've already had answers :)

My Kroger chain is king soopers. Freedom definitely codes as fuel at their stations.

I got busy last night so of course I didn't sit down and switch our SW flights to the GC/priority credit, and now there's now WGA fares again. Well, I guess we are now 57 hours out... ( I miscalculated that yesterday, I was more like 80 hours out, I can't remember what day it is :P)

The other thing I was going to do was check my Universal Hilton reservation one more time... didn't do that either. It became non-free cancellation at midnight. I just looked it up to torture myself and it dropped 5k points a night. Booo!

I got the pop-up a few times while trying to apply for the Hilton Biz. I put a lot of spend on all of my Amex cards and then tried for the Rose gold card and didn't get the pop-up so I thought I was safe, but the bonus never posted for me :sad1:

I would definitely put spend on all of your Amex cards if you want to stay in their good graces.

I am in this same position. DH got the pop up we have made the spend on Delta biz but haven’t seen the bonus. Is it worth calling or is there a place I can send a message to ask about it?

Definitely try your CU first! My small local (or used to be, before moving) CU counts as a DD for Chase. The nice thing about Chase is they post fast - you can expect to see the bonus by the second Tuesday after your push. So you will know within 2 weeks if it worked or not.

Used my middle name for the cfu au months back and she has been getting offers from cap one like crazy lately. There's 2 in the mail today. It's getting a bit ridiculous. I do get some in my name but never for anything I would want. I never read these either so I don't know if they are any good or useful with a dif name.

I haven't called or messaged them because based on what I saw on Reddit it looks like it is a lost cause.

A co-worker of mine that has done credit card rewards for years told me, be prepared, the cc companies are sexist. I just figured she was joking. And her and her husband makes more than her so I just figured that was the situation.

Well in the past year, I can say that's 100% been my experience. DH and I both have great credit scores and our names are on most everything jointly. My "real" job though, I make about 4x what he does. 98% of the credit card offers come for him! I'll get *maybe* one a month, he's getting 3-4 per week! I've never been one to throw the sexiest card.....BUT, kinda odd. And I've never actually been turned down (although his limits always seem to be a tad higher) but kinda annoying.

We were similar... I had a better score (originally, now they're about the same), higher income by about 60%, DH always gets way higher limits. I haven't put in a personal card app since we got married and started using joint income on the apps though.

ETA: Oh, but I watched it happen with my ILs. Joint income, similar credit score, both on CSRs and SPG cards 2 years ago. FIL got way higher limits. We all got a good laugh because he doesn't actually work anymore.

Call them and ask them to adjust it.
