I love credit cards so much!

I don't have an issue getting Amex cards. I hold 2 charge cards and 4 credit. Two of those credit accounts are business. My pink gold is my daily driver. I'm inclined to believe it's both spend and regular, natural use at this point. All the spend on DHs card is real but it's sporadic. We tend to use my pink gold and Arrival+ for everything right now. I won't be bullied into using a less superior card to get around Amex's weird rules! #ChurnersFightBack

My pink gold has become quite popular in my pocket. I have 3 go to cards right now: Amtrak Boa - I want to load up on those points and I see value in them considering my location in Maryland for NYC trips and Auto train.

Citi Costco - I earn 4% on gas everywhere and since I have the exec membership, even more pennies. Before Amex gold it was also my restaurant card. Between the Costco membership, both checks from Citi and Costco exec will have brought in over $600 in cash this year past.

I noticed a new chase offer for CVS - one for 10%, 2 for 5% - max of $5 and $2 back. And not even on any freedoms with drugstore bonus. Geez Chase don’t be so generous!!

Just checked and nothing for me. But my 30% Staples credited over night which is good as now I'll pay those charges. I hate charges hanging around on the cards but if I pay before the credit than I have a credit on the card and it seems like forever before I need the credit again.

I haven't done them yet. I've been looking a lot.

Thought I had quoted @Haley R also. Waiting to see what you get on this one!

That’s a huge difference in price. For a short getaway trip I’d chance it :)

Me also if I needed to use cash anyway! I have price lined my way around a lot of places in the past but in Lake Buena Vista I usually got the Hilton near Disney for $65 - $70 or Gaylord Palms for $80-$85. (Its been a while.)

Well I think no one expects the Spanish Inquisition! Especially when performing a routine banking function they lay out for you to use. But it sounds like I'll keep doing the push method to try to avoid that :)

DW had the same problem with chase. Just trying to make a deposit initiated from Chase - they shut everything down, couldn't even access credit cards to pay them. DW was overseas on business at the same so it was a bit of a pain to get chase to sort this out. Think we'll stick to the push from other accounts in future.

so tell me once again.... this is for P2 who's 4/24...... the CIP app...... how tough is this? I'm really leery about going for it,and him having to call and talk to people...... should we go for a lower offer like CIC or something instead if they approve those more easily? How hard is it to get instant biz approval?(other than the swa biz, that was instant for him) it's a 'biz' since all his side work is not official at all,but he does plenty of it.

When did you purchase? Both of my Staples purchases posted this morning.

Thanks for your help. I tried posting on the Priceline thread and didn't hear back so I'll post here and on the resorts board. Here are our 4 options:
BW and BC (3/3 split) = $2482
Priceline deal and BC (3/3 split) = $1738
BW and CBR (3/3 split) = $1937
BW and CBR (4/2 split) = $2137

Wow! Prior to having DVC and also hotel points in my life, I thought nothing much about dropping $2500 to $4500 just on rooms at Disney! Now, it gives me the shudders, lol!

If I were to win a successful 3 night at $142, I would immediately submit another 3 night and hope for the same result, bringing it to 6 times $142, but, really, since I have points, I'm probably not going to spend much over $200 on any hotel stay in the future unless I have to go and have no point options......

HOw do you know you're in trouble with Amex? I'm asking b/c I think I might be on the naughty list.... as noted before I didn't get the biz green points bonus....I know it's just s tiny amount but I wanted a foot in for purchasing deals....and I'm annoyed I have a stupid card I don't need+no bonus at all.... does this count toward my amex 5? (oh,add to that I also closed my old spg personal too...) maybe I should put some spend on one of my amex cards for a while...(?)
I got the pop-up a few times while trying to apply for the Hilton Biz. I put a lot of spend on all of my Amex cards and then tried for the Rose gold card and didn't get the pop-up so I thought I was safe, but the bonus never posted for me :sad1:

I would definitely put spend on all of your Amex cards if you want to stay in their good graces.

Kroger gas question--I know some cards don't count it as a gas station. So my options are Chase Freedom, or SPG Biz. Can anyone remind me if any of these classify Kroger gas as a gas station?

I have those but was thinking I'd be all smart and use my staples 30% offer first.... you know, spent, and still nothing. I dislike jumping thru hoops to save a few bucks. the amex offers seem to refund almost immediately with no effort. OR am I the only one who doesn't like the chase offers so far? (I like the idea, but not the execution of them so far)
I think people prefer the way AmEx does it where you get notified that you used the offer pretty much right away, unlike Chase where you get the email AFTER the credit posts. Seems to take about the same amount of time, Chase could be a touch slower, but the waiting in the unknown makes it seem worse. But they could be like BoA where I don't recall receiving anything when I use an offer there. I really hope Chase keeps up with good offers and doesn't turn into BoA. I have all the lame offers on my BoA cards and you only get to use an offer once since it's across all your cards, not individual like Chase. So I'm rooting for Chase for now.

My Kroger codes as gas for the Chase Freedom and it is 5x category right now. I don't think we have ever put gas on the SPG Biz. My Kroger doesn't code as gas for the EDP.

Chase Freedom definitely classifies it as fuel. My SPG Biz shows the charge as Kroger fuel, but I can't find where on the website it tells me if I actually earned the points for it.

On both my and DH CIP application..were not instant approval....they were at the review stage for 3-7 days...they approved...no need to call in
Remember to refer him from your CIP for the 20,000 bonus

So far we have only had the Staples offers on DHs CSP.....the 10% one took about a week to post...just used the 30% one yesterday so hopefully it too will post in a week

The more I read about it, the more it sounds like a Gold card-specific issue. Either way, I'm going to play it safe on Amex for a while or just go for BBP if I get some downtime. I got DH's Citi AA biz last night, I plan to get him a CIU in March, and then I need to build up more SPG and Hilton points for Tokyo. I highly doubt he'll have an issue with Amex considering he's a cardholder since 2012 and we've upped his spend on that card recently. I'd like to get him whatever the high end Hilton card is (Aspire?) around August so we'll have the status from that during our trip to Tokyo. Fortunately, I don't need MRs or SPG points immediately for flights since I plan to use AA through JAL, and I already have enough AA miles for my flight and will have enough for DH once this new bonus posts.

SWEET FANCY MOSES.

Sometimes it's better to just pay for a room that cost points like that because of the points gained vs the points gave up.

When I play that game, I look to book a hotel bia Southwest Air and look for a great bonus point room. I don't have enought Chase points to pay for every hotel room for my month in Europe this summer, so I'm filling in the gap this way and will walk away at the end of the trip with 60k in Southwest RR points plus the UR points I earn 3x points by paying with my CSR to cover stays that aren't a good use of points (Disneyland Paris on resorr) or at places Where I can't(Europa Park)

I got a 75k Platinum email offer the other day but I'm waiting to mine other card brands for the next big trip, Disney and Universal Parks in Asia(2022)

My big grip is now that Expedia is doing the Chase redemptions, the hotel options may have increased but the actual availibilty of the hotels has decreased and that is even compared to regular Expedia. I have seen arooms availinle on regular expedia and via the chase portal be sold out. That gets me steamed.

So true! Why have it there if you don't want customers to use it SMH

Oh that sounds terrible! I was in the comfort of my own home and still really annoyed! Combining banking accounts and CC seems great in theory for one portal, but things like this make it horrible!

Yeah, if the points value is poor I'm definitely happy to pay cash. We paid cash for our Hilton room at DL this summer. 40,000 points/night versus $124/night during a bonus where I earned 18 Hilton points per dollar made it a really easy decision. Fortunately it's just DH and I so we don't need a suite or anything fancy!

Y'all have me worried when I go for my next Amex this month. I'm going for the Amex Everyday for my next balance transfer.

I have 4 cards and I've been a member since 1995 (the Amex Optima in college was the first card I ever got).

  • SPG Biz (which I spent like CRAZY on until the CSR) since 2006.
  • Delta Gold (personal) 10/17
  • Hilton Ascend (was surpass) 10/17
  • Hilton Aspire 12/18
So I'm hoping Amex plays nice! I'll have to see if my mom can refer me for the Everyday. I think she has it, and it would be nice to throw points her way. Though she has about 90 bazillion.

Her house burnt down Feb 2017. I told her to open new cards to rebuy everything, but she just wanted to use her Amex for everything or her discover. I think we dropped easily 100k on those cards! I was sick thinking of all the points she could have earned from opening new cards! UGH. She could have bankrolled our trip to Ireland we want to take. Plan was to go for my DD's 18th and be in Ireland on St. Patty's day (her bday), but my mom has stage 4 cancer (she had breast cancer 19 years ago...came back in her spine...she feels from the stress of the fire), so I think our timeline is going to be sped up to next year :(

I was on my ex's SPG personal as an AU. We've been divorced almost a year and he still hadn't removed me. That took the #5 slot if that's how amex plays. So I just called to remove myself. How long should I wait before applying for the Amex Everyday? I do spend on all my Amex (the delta doesn't get much love, but I do use it) so I hope no pop-up. I'm just wondering how long I need to give the "now open" #5 space before I try.

Can't remember if I read it here or elsewhere about Shipt deals, but if you like Shipt there's a new Chase offer for $10 off a $49+ purchase. (at least the app says its new) One time use, expires 2/8.

Also saw 5% back at Under Armour, if they're still cool.
