Opinions on best hotel at MCO? Trying to use my chase points, but also have other reward points available.

I was looking yesterday too. I saw Breckenridge vouchers. That may be handy for me since I don't otherwise know what to do with my MRs. I may also do the schwab thing...need to read the dischurners post on that.

I'm pretty sure I won't be going the Schwab route unless I get a big bunch of points.

any article to read detailing how to find/use the dummy offer? and AA gc, do they expire,or could I hold onto it and use at some future point?
Start booking a flight and look for a CC offer as you go thru that process. (Just make sure you click to the business offer as it probably initially will default to personal)

No knowledge of expirations on AA eGCs.

Don’t let it be intimidating. It’s just that chase business almost never is auto approved even for completely legitimate medium sized businesses.
But ya, you’ll want to wait prior to applying for Hyatt.

Hey @SouthFayetteFan - everyone here is familiar with http://churning.rankt.com/ for referrals, right? To both post and use?
We don’t support churning.rankt around these parts...

That’s what r/DISchurners is for ;) We like to keep all of our support clicks “in house” :D

Best is subjective of course but I really like the Hyatt Regency inside MCO. It's fun to people watch, eat around the world, er, airport (apps one place, main another, then of course dessert). I just transferred 12, 000 URs to Hyatt since Chase's travel portal wanted 23,000 URs for the same room:scared1:.

They are undergoing renovations through the end of next month though, so a caveat if you might be disturbed by that. Also quite near MCO is the Hyatt Place.

My brother is a big Marriott fan and always uses his points to stay at the Fairfield Inn/Renaissance/Marriott near MCO. There are so many options I think it's hard to go wrong.

Hyatt in the airport...12k point points...transfer you URs.

ETA: I just stayed there in Dec in a junior suite. It was newly renovated and beautiful, though it would've been nice if they'd retiled the bathroom with the renovation. I booked through the UR portal for that since I needed to sleep 6.

MR is great for ANA redemption. Other than that, just when Delta has their flight discounts...

I'm not an expert by any means, but I'll tell you what we've used them for so far. Flight to Hawaii, moved MRs to Hyatt to top off DHs points since we had almost the amount we needed but not quite, but our best redemptions have been transferring to airline partners and getting business class seats. We moved a bunch to Flying Blue and booked Air France flights to Copenhagen. And we used the great "sale" on Avios to book flights home from London. There is no way we would ever have paid cash for those flights. There are enough travel partners that we have been able to find a way to use them. IMHO the best deals are the ones where there's something like 30% off when you transfer points. But of course, the best use is the one that makes you happy, and the one that works with your personal travel plans. Hope this helps.

Often Amex has a transfer bonus for MRs-last fall, for instance, for several months there was a 40% bonus when transferring MRs to British Air. I used that for two one way first class tickets to Edinburgh, as well as a business class ticket from Dublin to Orlando on Aer Lingus. I'm also hoping to use MRs for business class when we fly to Australia for one of my tickets. I think if you can time their transfer bonus to a need, it's a great to have MRs. Otherwise, I think the Schwab cash out is a great option, too, because cash is always good:)

I’ve utilized MR transfer bonuses to BA when it was at 40% and at 50% and more recently to Virgin Atlantic for a 30% bonus. I currently hold a business Platinum Amex and am able to redeem points to pay for travel and get 35% of my points back. This gives me a 1.54 cpp value.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pay more attention to opportunities to transfer to airline partners. I think Doc posts about these sometimes or maybe I'll have to branch out and read some other bloggers . . .

Ok, I've lowered DH's CSP cash advance limit to $100 and am ready to do his PNC account... I've decided I'm only going to do the $200 bonus for him. We'd almost empty our Ally account if I did the $300 bonus and I'm just not comfortable with that right now. I'm thinking maybe once I can free some more cash up from other bonus accounts I have hanging around, I can do the $300 bonus for myself as I'll have more access to our cash then.

Good call. Remember if something goes wrong & the bank freezes your account, it can take weeks to get your money out if you can’t walk into a branch.

Did the PNC bonus, opened 5 months ago. How does everyone close the account? Can you do it online?

Having to put $15/day MP on my cc hurts though. Why oh why can’t they figure out how to allow gift card payments or room charging for it? I want more than 2.25% (CFU to CSR) back dangit!

I transferred all money out and SMd to close after it cleared. It’s 6 months to keep open to prevent the early account closure fee. There are reports of people who pull all their money out & close early not getting charged the $25, ymmv. Haven’t tried it myself. Make sure you pull the money & close all in the same statement cycle to prevent the monthly fee hitting your account in the middle of trying to close it.

I get into the strangest SW dilemmas. I have $80.01 in each of our names from a summer cash flight we re-booked. Our flight for 3 weeks from now is down to $114.98 (we are booked on points and it was $131ish initially). If I cancelled the points flights, and used the $80.01 plus $5.60 I’d get back from pts flights it would cost me $29.37 out of pocket...but I’d save all my points and I’d even earn ~$8 worth of SW pts on each of the flights.

These are the things I spend hours thinking about....LOL! I can pay about $90 out of pocket to save approx 22k SW pts and earn another 1,700 SW pts...hmmmmmmm

When do the cash vouchers you received expire? Do you have a use for them beyond the Jan. trip?

I’d rebook. I hate those vouchers lol

They Expire in November. I’m unsure of a use - I really just planned to use the money for the $5.60 fee charges on a few flights this year. I ended up with the credit from flights paid for with gift cards and travel credits (because people are probably wondering why a guy with 500k SW pts is paying cash in the first place, LOL). Of course if I had miraculously found a flight for like $85-$90 I’d have used them for that in a heartbeat. $115 has me pausing though, lol.

I did something similar with my flights last September....had mine booked with points and DH as my companion.

Our flight in March was delayed due to mechanical issues so we each received a $100 voucher good for 1 year...there was no way to convert the voucher to points so SW refunded my points and applied the vouchers at the equivalent cash rate.... I still have about $10 left on the luv voucher...pm if you decide to switch and can use the $10

Ok, PNC account opened, sent SMs to lower credit limits on all my Chase cards (need to ask for advice on next steps here later), getting ready to purchase my AA gift card on Citi AA Biz... no final words right? Just purchase the virtual GC direct from AA?
