I love credit cards so much!

Best way to contact them to ask?
Send a backdoor SM (Citi shutdown their SM system but you can still send one this way)...

When logged into Citi, Click “Services” then “Credit Card Services” then “Request a credit limit increase” then “Request your Card agreement”. That will bring you to the SM screen.

Say something like: “I noticed there is a higher offer of 75k AA miles. Is it possible to match my offer to that one”

Today I was playing around with Amex Travel and for dates in 2019 (we're actually back to planning on 2020 but I'm just trying to get an idea) it's looking like ANZ and United. Of course, that could change by June, which is when I'll be looking for our trip in 2020. LAX-MEL and then home AKL-SFO was around 427,--- ish points. I don't love United but they (currently) cost 427K MRs/$4200 (v Virgin Australia $17K or 1.7 million MRs) so whatever is most reasonable schedule/price-wise will be the winner. I'm sure some of the pricing is dependent on availability, which is why (in my head) I'm shooting for 5-600,000 MRs before I book. With Amex Travel, much like Chase's travel portal, you can use all cash, cash AND MRs or all MRs. My goal is to have the MRs for definitely one ticket and ideally one ticket plus part of another since DH wants to come along:)

I'm getting sticker shock just looking at how many points it takes. May have to reevaluate everything now LOL.

I've been wondering about this too, how people who MS for profit actually make profit. Not sure how much I would actually do it, but would like to earn in case it would come in handy for meeting an MSR. I've tried twice to buy a MO with a GC and haven't had any luck yet. The first time I picked credit instead of debit, the second time I tried it said it was an invalid pin. I need to figure out if it really was or if it just doesn't work at my local Dillons (Kroger) grocery store. I do have a CIP so would like to learn how to make this work.

I'm reading and watching, too. I don't think I'm brave enough to try this at the moment, but want to learn.

Goal is 30k a month I’ve been slowly ramping up highest so far has been 20k.

Wow!

I think it is exhausting but so fun! We did even longer days at DLR since they have longer hours than WDW. There was one day at DLR that had hours from 7a-12a. We got there at 6:30 and stayed until 12. We were so tired but it was so fun! The longest we have done at WDW is a 8am EMH and closing at 12a, and that was with a 6yo. We do like to build in a resort day every 3 days or so, which I think is why DLR was hard for us. Four days of just straight going, with no resort day, so fun but next time, we will build a resort day even into DLR.
After about 12 hours my knees hurt too much Walking to the hotel at Disneyland at the end of the night, I wanted to sit down on the curb and it wasn’t even that far. Lol.

We stayed at the HoJo and I will admit, walking back after 16-17 hours in the parks, felt like total torture. I was eyeing every single hotel along the way wishing we had booked there lol! Just typing that out...16-17 hours in the parks. Wow! I guess I never added it up before.

Up with the wind storm, supposed to have guests up to 60. Don't know how anyone stays in a hurricane, the noise is unnerving. I think part of it is our wind storms normally hit during the day when there's more noise to start with rather than 130am so that it's about all you here. Not many cars going by or airplanes from the airport. Only thing I know for sure is the trash can is down but it's almost empty since it was picked up Sat am. Hoping it'll be done soon since it got here earlier than the news said it would. Also glad it's the weekend and not a work night.

Can anyone check to see if there is any DVC availability anywhere in DW for March 2-3? I know it’s a long shot. Decided to take a trip down for the Disney wedding expo. About to be in churning overload I can sense it

I wouldn’t think it would affect your application for the SW card...but ugh what a pain on the fraud charge
I never had issues with credit card prejudice...but years ago looking for a car omy own without DH because he hated car shopping ....oh boy that was fun

Back in 1994, I was divorced and needed a new vehicle. I had 2 older cars but was constantly having repair issues. I started shopping and I'm sort of the type that doesn't take any kind of rubbish in person from salespeople. So I quickly tired of the process but did find a vehicle I liked. Went home and got as much word of mouth research done as possible including incentives and interest rates and whatnot. I then clearly outlined my offer in writing and went to the dealership, asked for the manager, passed him my offer and left, saying 'call me if you can meet this offer'. It was 25% in total below the asking price $24K down to $18K. They called me the next day, I went in and drove off with my new vehicle and the following month refied with Navy Fed, complete with a NFCU incentive for the refi. I did also turn in a piece of crap car that was barely worth $500 blue book. I kept the other car for a while and then sold it.

I've bought quite a few cars in my lifetime, both for myself and my kids and I'm not intimidated by the process. I sort of feel sorry for them when I leave.

I only checked for a studio and there was no availability.

Debating on whether I want to keep the SPG Biz or the Lux. Not sure I want to keep both, but I could potentially. This would also box me out of another Amex credit card since I’m at 5 already unless I can be the unicorn and get magically approved for a 6, which would be the BBP. Was going to cancel the SPG Biz to get down on AFs (the irony is, as I was debating applying for the Schwab card today LOL).

I’ll definitely be canceling my Marriott Biz in Feb, but curious what you (and others who have both the SPG Biz and Lux as well) are considering.

I have 5 cards, spg biz, personal and lux, and both Marriotts. I'm keeping all 5 for the free nights. The value of the 5 nights in vacation time is up to about $1500 for me and for 1/3 that cost in annual fees, I see it as a deal, and it works well with my vacation budget. I also have IHG, Hyatt and Radisson free nights/points. These programs have enabled me to plan very nicely. I do understand that this can't be replicated now since all the new rules have gone into effect and I reserve the right to change my opinion down the road. I can supplement with points and do quite a few nights in a row, and this system is fairly flexible for me.

I changed hotels for my upcoming trip today. I just got the magic bands in the mail. Now doing online checkin for the new hotel. I can click that I don't need bands, right? The bands from the original reservation will work fine with the new reservation?

Yes, any band will work and if you need or forget them, the desk has bands ready to go. BWV had all the colors as well.

If all goes well, this lineup will get us 5x 35k FN certs and 1x 50k FN cert this year. It also helps that I know what I'd do with at least the 35k FN certs.

That's me. I know these are nights I can use right here in Maryland if I choose and get value for them.

The open Amex credit card slot will go towards opening a BBP, and I'll work my way through the Hiltons eventually. With Chase hopefully back in the mix, I plan on taking things a little slower with Amex this year.

Ok...I'm now confused on this Amex thing: I thought it was 5 amex credit and 5 amex mr cards?

Generally, limit of 5 Amex credit cards (biz or personal; MR, cash back, hotel points or airline miles). No limit on Amex charge cards (Green, Gold, Platinum and their biz and co-branded variants), and charge cards don’t count against the credit card limit.

That’s not a DD or MDD.

You won’t want to apply for a Hyatt until you find out you’re approved for the CIP. Otherwise, if it hasn’t been manually reviewed (which most Chase Biz cards are), they’ll deny you for 1/30.

What’s your 5/24? And if you want a Hyatt, I’d grab it before the signup drops on 1/10
ok..... so manually reviewed sounds little intimidating, what does that mean exactly? since this is P2 (4/24) calling in is not ideal.... I hear what you're saying tho, the two apps might cross paths timewise. and I was going to use an emailed code,so best bet is CIP today or tomorrow, then wait for (hopeful) approval before the Hyatt? that should put P2 at 5/24 for another few months. (and its more than enough MSR for me to keep busy with)

DP:

Approved for SPG Biz on 10/31/17;
Second year $95 AF posted and statement closed on 11/15/18;
35k FN cert posted 1/3/19.

Amex gives 30 days from the closing date of the statement on which the AF posts to close a card for a full refund of the AF.

Not that I was planning to close my SPG Biz anyway, but my 35k FN cert took 49 days from AF to deposit into my SPG account. Amex really is making it impossible to get the FN cert if you cancel your SPG card.
Thanks for the timeline...... yeah I found that out myself about the cancel/refund of AF timing, altho they did fully refund after I asked them to do it anyway lol

Chase Ultimate Rewards Question:

We can book our 3 night Universal trip for next week using points for 25,000 points per night, or $312 per night. We currently have over 100,000 points. I currently have an AP rare reserved which averages to $240 per night, or $812 total with tax, but I will have to upgrade one of our 3 day tickets to an annual pass, and I’m not sure exactly what the cost is for that. My question is, which is the better deal? Should we use points or pay the AP rate plus the cost to upgrade 1 ticket? It’s obviously not better to pay cash at the Chase UR rate. We are considering using our points for another trip later on (either for hotel or airfare), but I wasn’t sure if our rewards points ever expire? TIA
