Yes, they have "erasers" where you can use your credit earned to offset travel fees. Many people use this for exactly your situation.

Man this government shutdown has been annoying. I'm furloughed but not 100%, but I'm having to log on for an hour or two each day morning and afternoon just to make sure there's nothing that needs to be done. But I can't work all day - not that there's anything to do anyway.

In other news, my parents are considering joining us for our February WDW trip. I was looking for a good rate - passholder rates seem ok, Pop Century may be their best bet, but wow there's some expensive stuff out there.

My son-in-law is an air traffic controller, so has to work...but .his brother was 3 weeks away from graduating to become one and that was shut down...

I think the really magical time is around Labor Day. We went for my husband's bday a few years ago (Aug 22) and it was huge.

They've always been well known for the fantastic labor day deals - I've never personally pulled figures so I have no way to tell if they've gotten worse. My comment was based on same travel dates last year vs. this year for late January. In 2018 they saved me 29.3% off the rack rates on my room portion and in 2019 that was only going to be 18.3%. It was a significant decline (so much so that the Disney room-only discount won out )

WOW - that is so strange. Especially since to sell Disney tickets they had to make changes to update to the new "date based" tickets. Chase URs and Disney makes no sense anymore!

Could this be what my young friend accomplished unthinkingly???? the modified double dip? I mean he has two priority cards..... should I tell him NOT to call and cancel the 2nd?

I don't recall the details of your situation. Did they apply for cards on different days close together?

DVC members who pay dues with gift cards, can you partially pay with gift cards?? I don't think we'll have enough gc on hand by the end of the month to pay in full this year.

I was going to recommend looking at those cards when I read your earlier post. I have the Capital One Venture card and I think the Aviator works very similar. When you have a travel charge, you use your "miles" to erase the charge(essentially a statement credit). You can use it for flights, rental cars, hotels, buses, trains....The travel category is not as liberal as Chase. For example, parking fees are not considered travel. But UT and my DD's bus to the airport was.

Add me to the list scrambling for the Free Dining Promo this morning.

I had to call in and cancelled the Bounceback that I had booked, so it was tense for a few moments while I could get everything booked. I figure this will cost us around $600 "more" than what we would have originally spent. Usually, we are fine without parkhoppers, and I had to upgrade a room category because the one I had originally booked didn't have any availability.

I think we can definitely make use of the PHs though, plus this will definitely upgrade our dining experience which is one of our favorite parts of a Disney trip!

So, now I have $4,891 for 8 nights at POR with the DDP. 2 adults, 2 Kids. I guess I'm headed towards collecting discounted Disney GC.

Seriously considering applying for the Amex BCP. I noticed on Card Match I was preapproved and that would definitely earn me some cash from buying giftcards at the grocery.

Even the LD rates from the magical agency have gotten higher over the last 3 years. About 4 years ago, we could get the Poly for $200/night including tax. In 2017, that same exact deal and room was $258/night including tax. We didn't check rates in 2018 so not sure what they looked like.

Does the SW Biz not contain RR number? Is there anywhere to verify that it's connected to the correct account? I know I put the correct number in, it's just something I verify when I get the card, but I don't see anything anywhere to connect the two.

Sorry to hear that. I know from personal experience what it is like to hear of a child passing that you have had contact with in the education system and over my many years of work in the system before my retirement, I've experienced this quite a few times.

I went on the Disney site to check my annual pass dates in MDE - it expires on Jan 15 - and I got ate up half a dozen times before I got my info. Then I wanted to check renewal rate on a platinum and just gave up! I was thinking of renewing and booking an after xmas trip like dec 29 or 30 to Jan 7 or 8th for next year - DVC of course - but I still have until almost end of January to do it so no biggie.

Yes. And if you had the monthly option I think it works even better as you can just keep paying as you accumulate cards. I had a monthly deduction from my checking account and I had never had a problem in 18 years. When I paid the remainder last year for a minimum spend on a credit card, it was seamless, and then I did contract by contract one day in December with my gift cards and it just deducted and pushed the next payment date down the road until it was paid in full with my final gift card. I should have been doing this for years.

Go on the site and check it out. I think they are due by January 15 and late by Feb 15.

Thanks I'm going to do the Chase Pay ShopRite promotion on 3 cards ($1200 in gc). I just remembered that I can get Disney gc using CF this quarter at drugstores, so I think we'll be all set to pay in full!
