I love credit cards so much!

Dell and Boxed too.

Note: Terms say offers for enrolled BUSINESS cards - but looks like someone at Amex has screwed up and the offers are going to personal cards also. Grab 'em while you can, but tread carefully if not adding to a business card.
For the dell one, it looks like you can’t go through a shopping portal since you have to go to dell.com/amex. Anyone know if that’s correct. I’m looking at an XPS 13 9370.

Staples and Lowe’s 10% off offers are back on AmEx. Staples is up to $50 and Lowe’s is up to $100.

Thank you so much! As soon as I read this I logged on to my account and my 3 AUs accounts and added both offers to all 4. Whoo hoo! This will definitely help make a dent in the parents' golden anniversary cruise:)

Do those cards give you money back when it’s a travel expense?

Yes, they have "erasers" where you can use your credit earned to offset travel fees. Many people use this for exactly your situation.

Oh no, I added the Lowe's one to my personal card before reading this. I hope it still works!

Phew... it's been a whirlwind morning for me... no caffeine needed for me!

I woke up and was scrolling through Facebook when I saw an ad from a Disney page I follow saying that free dining was released overnight! I jumped up and grabbed my laptop to see what kind of money it would save us if we rebooked with that instead of the Magical rate we have. I was afraid that if I waited that I would miss out on the deal, so I went ahead and rebooked everything direct with Disney on the website and figure I will just cancel if we can get the discounts applied magically once I hear back from her.

So my original total package costs for three rooms for 6 people with 5 day PHs for everyone plus the dining plan was $8,638.58.

After rebooking with free dining, my costs for the same package is $7,751.20!

:cool1:

Idk when Disney released deals but I decided to look this am because SO mentioned wanting to stay at the poly for his bday in June. The Poly was $450 a night so he will have to deal with the Yatch Club. The passholder rate was $290 a night. Then for my bday in September I booked a free dining deal at the Contemporary since our passes will be expired by then. We will upgrade the tickets to passes then.

I need to get so many Disney Giftcards. I still can get 3k more to pay towards my wedding. And then these two trips at 3k each.

My staples is out of Disney giftcards. I wiped them out weeks ago and they haven’t been replaced. For the chase deals I got Amazon (will probably convert to grocery store giftcards) and Chipotle.

I was under the impression that this perk was limited to those who had 50 nights in an actual bed.

Elite nights are elite nights, so once you reach Platinum the perk is available in your account. If you click on the "see your benefits" link it takes you to the Platinum page where you can sign in to pick your benefits.

However, after I posted I played around some more and it does look like you have to pick it as soon as you make Platinum. It's telling me I don't have enough nights to pick now. :( I'll have to call in to see if they can do it retroactive because they don't make it very clear that it has to be picked in that calendar year. They just say "qualifying period" so I took that as the Platinum status period, like while you're platinum. If they'd have just said "calendar year" like they did in the T&C I'd have made sure I picked the suite nights before the end of the year. (since the elite nights wouldn't do anything for me in 2018)

Oh that's interesting... they appear on DH's Delta Gold card and I added them. I also had them on my SPG Biz so I'll spend there and wait on some DPs on personal cards before I do anything.

You were the perfect target for this deal since you already were getting PHs and the Dining plan and met the length of stay requirement! :) Glad that worked out in your favor!!

Unfortunately, I also think it speaks to how the magical rates aren't what they used to be. I also re-booked from my magical rates to Disney discounts for our upcoming trip later this month because the Disney discounts were better (I did this months ago, just commenting on how that's becoming a theme now)

I think the really magical time is around Labor Day. We went for my husband's bday a few years ago (Aug 22) and it was huge.

I guess I’m not sure what you’re asking. Do those cards give you money back when it’s a travel expense?
I was going to recommend looking at those cards when I read your earlier post. I have the Capital One Venture card and I think the Aviator works very similar. When you have a travel charge, you use your "miles" to erase the charge(essentially a statement credit). You can use it for flights, rental cars, hotels, buses, trains....The travel category is not as liberal as Chase. For example, parking fees are not considered travel. But UT and my DD's bus to the airport was.

Yeah, I've always been hoping to get free dining since we always get PHs when we go on a longer trip, so I knew that if the dates fell at the right time then we'd be able to save a bunch of money!

If she's still able to book me free dining at the same/better price when I hear back from her, I'll be happy to have her go ahead and book that and stick with her, and then I'll just cancel what I booked. I just felt like I couldn't risk not booking it since it's Pop and I need three rooms with free dining... The website was super slow when I was booking this morning, so I'm sure there were a ton of people on there at the same time trying to book it. It errored out once, and I was afraid maybe Pop was gone, but I still got it all through.

Hmm, I didn't realize you had to pick these either. I just assumed I had the Suite Night awards, I didn't even know there were other options.

I’m rethinking the north to south idea. Not sure why it didn’t even occur to me to go south to north, or at least check prices.

My biggest concern with July is snow melt will be gone, thus no waterfalls.
We did north to south in 2012 and ended up flying from San Fran to LA. The rental cars were outrageous, and airfare was cheaper. Had we gone south to north we could have driven, rental rates were less than half of the other direction.

Ooh I would love to hear a mini report of your trip and where you stayed!
The Disneyland trip is DSs choice. The other will be a National Park type vacation to an undecided location, though Yosemite is top of the list. We can’t take 2 weeks of vacation so they will be separate
In Sequoia we stayed in a cabin in the Grant Grove section. I was happy with the location, as I wanted to be able to hike at least one of the trails without driving. This turned out to be good since we got the hike to Grant Grove in the morning and then had to stay in because of snow. Although the cabin did have a private bath, it was quite rustic. When we checked in she mentioned something about animals getting in the cabins. So I didn't sleep very good those nights! We went down to the hotel and roasted marshmallows in the lobby there while we got the snow. If I had to do again I would just stay at the hotel. We had wanted to do a cave tour, but it wasn't open yet.

Either because it was out of our budget or I didn't make reservations early enough, we didn't stay in the valley in Yosemite. We booked a condo, still within Yosemite, but about 30 minutes from the valley. Even in May the parking was crazy, but once you found a spot you could use the free shuttle to get around the valley. I was going to mention the waterfalls as well, but glad to see that some of them will still be flowing. We also did Vernal Falls, but if you go be careful. More than the falls, all I remember is wet rocks, tons of people, and a drop that was hundreds of feet down. We turned around as soon as we could see the falls, thanking God that we didn't fall. Don't think I slept good that night either! If it is in your budget I would definitely recommend staying in the valley.

Perhaps you already know this if you've taken other NP trips, but be prepared for everything to take longer than expected. I can't remember drive times exactly, but it takes hours to get from one area of the park to the other. I think the drive between the two parks was only suppose to be 4-5 hours, we left Grant Grove in the morning, not super early, stopped in the Sequoia grove in the south part of Yosemite and probably got to the condo around supper time. Oh, and don't forget Dramamine or something for motion sickness. Never again will I be without some in my purse! Any other questions, I'm happy to answer.

Tagging @CyndiLouWho also...

I believe it’s some sort of backdoor method where you pick universal tix and then it suggests Disney tix at the bottom (like “people also viewed this” or something like that, lol). I know I’m not explaining that well but maybe somebody else can further clarify. :)
Thanks, but unfortunately they aren't showing up that way either>:(

From looking at my daughters account, I can tell you that if you have the Suite Night awards they will show in a line just like your free night certificate does. I don't know if she added them or not, but I will try to ask next time I talk to her.
