I love credit cards so much!

Yay! CIU 50k bonus just posted and the points are safely combined on my CSR. I think I am going to try for the CIC before the AmEx Plat and Gold hit my CR soon. I’d hold it until Jan and my ortho payment hits to meet the MSR since he doesn’t take AmEx. Then I need to figure out a card for $2600 we will be spending at Hershey Spa. I was thinking maybe the Hilton Biz or Cardmatch is showing that I’m pre-qualified for Cap Venture. Any others I should be thinking about?

Right, I remember when the offer first came out. I have used it successfully on my CSR and been credited all points etc. However, the card I SM'd about was actually DH's Freedom. So either way, that is not the same card OR account. I'm pretty sure DOC had posted that it was only good for CSR, but when I saw the previous post I thought I would double check with Chase. (Again, I did this before pp had posted the screenshot of the SM, otherwise I would NOT have hounded Chase about it). Who knows!
This is where DoCs post is a little confusing. The Sapphire promo came out in Oct at the same time as the CF promo for ShopRite did so they put both into a single post, presumably because they both had a ShopRite element to it.

When the second wave of promo emails came out and included the CFU this time they kind of just copy paste from the first post and said it was good for CF. Personally I think the use Chase Pay 5 times is only for CFU and CS/CSP/CSR cards since you are already getting 5% on the CF. However since you'd be getting 5% back anyway, probably can't hurt to try it on the CF and perhaps be happily surprised :)

Ok, thank you! I did actually do the complete amount on one portal, but wasn't sure if the points would post before the promo ended to know what to do for certainty through the others... they can be SO slow with the points! I'm off to figure out how to find out if mine is pending too! Thanks!

It took a bit for my visit to go pending.

They did have a glitch before where some cards would earn some type of points. I bought a variable load AmEx once and got 1x points on the whole thing when I should have maybe got points on the activation fee only. But all reports this year is they fixed the glitch. And I have only received 2x points on the closed loop GCs.

We just switched over to the Just 4 U platform yesterday so I had the terms handy - "... (4) any financial instrument that can be redeemed for goods or services at participating Albertsons Companies Banner stores - including (but not limited to) gift certificates, money orders, and gift or debit cards issued by American Express®, MasterCard®, Visa®, NetSpend®, PayPower™, Green Dot®, Univision Mastercard®, or any Albertsons Companies Banner store; (5) mobile phone cards; (6) all fuel gift cards, including but not limited to Sunoco..."

Sunoco is our Fuel Rewards partner, I'm sure Jewel has similar terms.
I purchased $600 in VGCs and MCGCs yesterday at Safeway along with $16 in groceries and only received 16 FR points. I am not complaining since I used the coupons for the activation fees ($50). We never shop there and I was totally surprised by the good grocery deals.

Ah, ok got it. We had been using the warehouse clubs for the 5% and forgot it counted for chase pay too, so you're right, definitely worth trying anyway! Fingers crossed for a happy surprise!

Is there anyway to keep AA miles from expiring besides flying, cc, or shopping portal?

Can y'all believe that is near accurate description of me and DH pre 2012? To be fair, we didn't know anything about cc rewards or even about discounted Disney GCs back then. But, we used our Disney Visas for absolutely everything. We were able to earn enough rewards to pay for a couple of DVC member cruises and we thought that was awesome. I think back sometimes and laugh at the idea that I thought earning enough rewards to pay for "one" vacation was amazing.

Granted, I value 5x points for a Disney GC much more than 5% off but I would never say it isn't worth the effort. Had I known about it back then, I'm sure we wold have done the discounted Disney GCs cards too. I will jump on the 5% off bandwagon when meeting an MSR and make a Disney GC purchase since there is no sense in not getting an additional discount. My threshold now for choosing 5x UR over a discount is 10%.

I will admit that I miss pulling out a super cute credit card to pay for things. I remember always getting compliments on the cards.
It is funny because I now get comments about my metal cards all the time!

I booked flights to Toronto for June 2019 on Air Canada for around $100pp one way around two months ago. Lo and behold the price went down to $75 pp but with the change fee, it wouldn’t make sense to rebook the lower fare. On Thursday, Air Canada notified me of a schedule change to our flight which is inevitable since it’s so far out.

Called them up to reject the schedule change, received full refund for the higher flight and rebooked the lower fare a day earlier which means more time on vacay. YAY. Sometimes it does pay to book far in advance. I’ll have to book an extra nights hotel but I have plenty of points to do so.

Amex credit posted on the Walmart grocery deal. All set for turkey day. Thanks Disney M and C for the idea.

Sorry, last question...I have looked everywhere, but I can't figure out where I would see if points are pending? Could you possibly point me in the right direction? (I'm on my laptop and the site seems to be glitchy so that may be part of the problem?) Thank you!

When do AA miles expire? Do they warn you? Looking to fly in Jan 2020 now instead of Oct 2019. Wondering if I need to keep an eye on my points so I do not lose them.

ETA: just googled and see I have 18 months since last activity. Just made a mental note to put a small purchase each month on my and DH Citi AA Biz to keep them alive.

Sorry I didn't quote the person who talked about Shutterfly GCs. I didn't realize you can buy eGC on their site and trigger the AMEX offers. Got the $5 off on $20 on 2 cards. Bought 4 $10 GCs today (2 on each card) and triggered the offer. Will save as they don't expire. I always make a photo book and magnets after each trip and double the order to give one set to my DD. Thanks for sharing.

Points expire 18 mos from earning or using. I don't know if they warn you. Mine expire in about 10 months. I want to extend it sooner so I don't forget.
There is a spot in your account where they tell you when they expire. I had a hard time finding it just bow. I am not on my computer right now so U can't look again for you right now. I can look later if you can't find it.

Thanks, I should googled. I did find it. Do you have a AA CC? You can make a charge and the clock restarts on your miles. I'm making a mental note to make a small charge each month on mine and DH's CC to keep them alive. Plus can't hurt if I want another Citi card.

AA dining rewards network
E miles or E rewards surveys that credit to AA
Purchasing AA miles
Gifting AA miles
redeeming miles for something like a magazine subscription
Staying at a hotel partner and earning miles
Convert hotel points to AA miles
Book a hotel through Rocket Miles
Book a cruise through AA portal

I do not have an AA cc. This is my son's AA acct. I used UR to book a flight home from school for him last year. We usually don't fly AA but I would hate to lose the points. He may at some point use AA again. But he usually flies SW.
