I love credit cards so much!

I know a few people who also swear by the Disney Visa. They throw everything on it to "save" for Disney thinking its the best deal. One of these people also adamantly refuses to use a gift card from Target or BJs since 5% isn't worth effort. I don't get it sometimes lol

As @miztressuz mentioned a while back, the biggest spend I have put on mine was a few bills when it offered a 4% back promo. It helped cover some of my AP renewal that year.

While the card is cute, I wish there were some more patterns. I remember when regular and premier had different patterns. Wish I could have the old black Toy Story one.

Question about buying gift cards through the airline portals (AA, United, Southwest) -

I know someone had posted about the holiday bonus points offers...does anyone have experience with buying gift cards (through giftcardmall) during these promo bonus periods and if the gift cards REALLY count towards purchase totals to earn bonus? I have tried to search but am not sure where exactly to try to find DP on this.

I have offers on United, Southwest and AA shopping but I would really like a little more certainty before I spend $3700 on gift cards to maximize the offers (yes, I can still use the gc eventually anyway but I would prefer to avoid the purchase/activation fees if I am not receiving the bonus points)

Thanks for any help!

Anyone know if Chase travel can book the Uni onsite hotels using the AP rate and URs to pay? On my $300 travel credit should be kicking in so maybe I could just pay OOP, if not.

I can't remember who, but someone tried that awhile back and was unable to do so. But with all the changes recently, I guess it can't hurt to try again.
That was me. I tried a couple times with different reps and the bottom line was no. Basically they told me it's because the AP rate is just a placeholder and not an actual discounted rate that gets paid in advance.

Yes I am. And the rebate is within a couple days. I used the card at our 2 disney table service meals and having a $40 credit pop up from the $200 total bill was pretty awesome. It even worked at the Starbucks at Disney.

I am really liking it; unless Disney comes back I feel a little bitter toward Chase and UR’s right now (have no use for Southwest points). Did your card finally come?
I did get it, and have been using it. I just checked and I also have the 20% posting already (never thought it would post that quick). The other nice thing is it gives you the point value per transaction, which shouldn't be that big of a deal but I really appreciate. We leave tomorrow for WDW so I will also look forward to seeing the disc post for our meals. I agree, I didn't think anything would knock my CSR off the top but between SPG for gas and the gold for dining and groceries my CSR is not getting much action. It won't be an automatic renewal next year, I will definitely want to run the numbers.

Can you go the VGC route to pay those?
I have gotten a few of those. I should plan better since prescription dog food is about $80 month but I hate paying the fees on VGCs. I did just get $100 at Jewel/Albertsons because they had $10 off which covered the fees.

Question for the fuel rewards folks, above mentioned VGCs purchased at Jewel didn’t earn fuel rewards. The T&C say gift cards should count. Any idea why mine wouldn’t?

Regular gift cards do, but anything that can be used at the store (basically) don't earn rewards. That way you can't double dip. So the VGC/MCGC, store gift cards (i.e jewel), and some gas cards won't earn rewards.

Interesting because I purchased them once before and it worked. I rarely shop at Jewel so never have fuel rewards. I did buy some GCs when grocery was the quarterly bonus. Maybe it was a mistake then. Good to know going forward.

I think so, but to be sure, I sent a secure message. I attached the reply below.

Possible conflicting info? Before you had posted this response and screen shot, I had also sm'd Chase and this is the response that I got:

"regrettably, the Chase Pay offer for earning 1,500
bonus points after making five purchases of at least
$25.00 is not available with the Freedom Ultimate Rewards
card. Hence, it is not available on your account ending
xxxx."

Might be that we have different Freedoms (although the use of the term "Freedom Ultimate Rewards card" makes me doubt the knowledge of the rep, never heard that name of card used before?)? My Freedom is a regular Freedom. I did not expect the offer to exist on this card but thought I would ask just in case...the answer seems to be "no" as I expected. But I would love to be proven wrong!

DH was approved for AMEX Gold tonight! I'm excited to get in on these AMEX offers I hear so much about. Wanting to triple dip the travel credit. We have a trip on Alaska in 2019 and no set airlines for any future trips. Suggestions on how to use my $100 for 2018? I'm guessing gift card but do I jus pick an airline and hold onto that gift card? We like SW but usually fly whatever is cheapest.

Can y'all believe that is near accurate description of me and DH pre 2012? To be fair, we didn't know anything about cc rewards or even about discounted Disney GCs back then. But, we used our Disney Visas for absolutely everything. We were able to earn enough rewards to pay for a couple of DVC member cruises and we thought that was awesome. I think back sometimes and laugh at the idea that I thought earning enough rewards to pay for "one" vacation was amazing.

Granted, I value 5x points for a Disney GC much more than 5% off but I would never say it isn't worth the effort. Had I known about it back then, I'm sure we wold have done the discounted Disney GCs cards too. I will jump on the 5% off bandwagon when meeting an MSR and make a Disney GC purchase since there is no sense in not getting an additional discount. My threshold now for choosing 5x UR over a discount is 10%.

I will admit that I miss pulling out a super cute credit card to pay for things. I remember always getting compliments on the cards.

Congrats!!! I would suggest doing a mock booking for the time frame you will be traveling to get an idea which airline you would likely be flying. You must choose your airline first before getting any GCs. If SW doesn't fly where you are going then you may not want to chose them as an airline. Also, airline credits work differently with each airline. I think you can only trigger the credit on Delta in $50 increments, AA is $100. In addition, you may want to check out how many GCs you can pay with per the airline you choose. AA lets you pay with up to 8 GCs but Delta only lets you use 3 online. I don't recall if you also have or will get the Amex Gold and may have quite a few airline GCs between you both. Alaska Air doesn't not trigger the credit from what I have read.

PSA - the Target RedCard offer of a free $25 coupon after spending $100 when approved for a RedCard ends today.

Debit doesn't count against your 5/24 - I think I'll sign DH up for one today to get the $25 coupon to use for holiday shopping. RedCard holders get access to some Black Friday deals on 11/21.

I don't know if RedCard accounts are limited to one per checking account, so I'm using our joint account for DH. My RedCard comes out of my "none of your business it's my money" account. :)

Right, I remember when the offer first came out. I have used it successfully on my CSR and been credited all points etc. However, the card I SM'd about was actually DH's Freedom. So either way, that is not the same card OR account. I'm pretty sure DOC had posted that it was only good for CSR, but when I saw the previous post I thought I would double check with Chase. (Again, I did this before pp had posted the screenshot of the SM, otherwise I would NOT have hounded Chase about it). Who knows!

Mine is pending. I’ll update when it posts.

Ok, thank you! I did actually do the complete amount on one portal, but wasn't sure if the points would post before the promo ended to know what to do for certainty through the others... they can be SO slow with the points! I'm off to figure out how to find out if mine is pending too! Thanks!

They did have a glitch before where some cards would earn some type of points. I bought a variable load AmEx once and got 1x points on the whole thing when I should have maybe got points on the activation fee only. But all reports this year is they fixed the glitch. And I have only received 2x points on the closed loop GCs.

We just switched over to the Just 4 U platform yesterday so I had the terms handy - "... (4) any financial instrument that can be redeemed for goods or services at participating Albertsons Companies Banner stores - including (but not limited to) gift certificates, money orders, and gift or debit cards issued by American Express®, MasterCard®, Visa®, NetSpend®, PayPower™, Green Dot®, Univision Mastercard®, or any Albertsons Companies Banner store; (5) mobile phone cards; (6) all fuel gift cards, including but not limited to Sunoco..."

Sunoco is our Fuel Rewards partner, I'm sure Jewel has similar terms.

Checked into the Poly yesterday evening and we are in a lake view room in Moorea. First time in the villas for daughter and grands and they loved the room. Of course we have cottages in front of us and we are ground floor, but - we had an excellent fireworks view over the top of the Castle spires! I was not expecting to see anything as we are ground floor, but I was most pleasantly surprised!

We ordered the 'Ohana feast delivered to our room for 1 person. There is still meat, noodles, veggies and half the bread pudding left over. Too much food, but it also was delicious! Except the bread pudding - I found it lacking this time.

Later on today we are checking into Boardwalk, but first - Magic Kingdom!
