Now that I have flights to Orlando for Thanksgiving, I can't decide what to do for hotels! Our flight arrives at 12:50 am Wed and I have 2 day passes to SeaWorld and/or Aquatica, getting Premier APs for Uni and will have a rental car. So
Plan A) Tues-Sat- Make the Renaissance SeaWorld our home base for 4 nights
Plan B) Tues- Thurs- Renaissance SeaWorld, Thurs-Sat- Sapphire Falls or Cabana Bay (leaning towards SF)
Plan C) Tues- Marriott near airport, Wed-Sat- Make Sapphire Falls or Cabana Bay (leaning towards SF) our home base
Plan D) Tues-Sat- Make Sapphire Falls or Cabana Bay (leaning towards SF) our home base

Thurs will be probably meet up with my brother at Uni to use our AP EP at 4 pm and have dinner with him and his wife. I need 3 more nights with Marriott for Platinum. One of those nights will be our return home since we have a late flight home also. Thoughts???? Suggestions???? I am going crazy trying to decide.

I would do C or D and stay at Sapphire Falls! I believe they even have a shuttle to Seaworld if you didn't want to drive. I stayed recently and it is a fabulous hotel. I really enjoyed the pool, the boat to Uni, and Strongwater Tavern which has amazing food and drinks! The price for Sapphire Falls is great for what you get compared to Cabana Bay which is more a value hotel. If you are getting AP's, you can look for an AP rate for Sapphire Falls and reserve it without having the pass yet.

So strange, but I can get into my Marriott account now. Their twitter claims only some had issues..

Well, Twitter to the rescue once again! After receiving three email replies from Uber customer service that clearly demonstrated the customer service rep was not understanding my concern or how to address it, my pointed Twitter posts tagging Uber and Uber Support voicing my disappointment over the policy change, its lack of communication and it costing me my Oct. Amex credits (and suggesting it might be time to give some business to Lyft) yielded some results. I was invited to send a PM, which I did, explaining my situation and how I was caught up in this policy change and would not have another opportunity to utilize my Oct. Amex credits. I just received an updated trip receipt from Uber indicating that my base fare is being refunded to my credit card and showing it taken out of my Uber Cash (which included my Amex credits). Now just to make sure the refund actually happens (or I will be disputing that charge with Chase!) and that on Thurs. morning my Uber Cash balance is $15 higher to reflect my Nov. credits (and to make sure they used the Oct. Amex credit and not just my gift card balance). Cautiously optimistic this was done correctly.
You made me think to attempt tweeting Marriott for help on something :)

:offtopic: We have a reservation for the first week of April at POP via a Disney Visa deal. Today, I was able to use an AP deal to get Arts of Animation, where we've never stayed, for $50 more total. Thoughts on whether this is worth the extra cash?

Anyone ever file a cell phone damage claim with CIP? If so, is there an online claims process like the eclaimsline.com ?

I talked to them about using the coverage but then ended up not using it since the damage/repair was less than the $100 deductible on the CIP. There are a couple forms that need to be filled out and turned in. I think you have to call and then they direct you where to find the information on the site.

Delta expert... If I book tickets using Skypesos, can those tickets be modified?
I'm trying to book return tickets for our Aug. 2019 Disney trip (4 people). I usually don't book flights this soon, but our return flight has to be an AM flight. These are my options:
AA 12.5K (50K total) - Have 120K AA miles.
Delta 10K (40K total)- don't have skypesos but have 130K MRs.
SW - flights won't be out until something in January? We have 55K SW
Also 90K URs
Should I wait until SW window opens?

Delta tickets can't be modified (unless you pay for the refundable). 10k seems cheap to me and unless you have a use for the 130 MR's that seems like a good use.

That's why we paid for the dessert party, it's soooooooooooooo expensive, but to not be out in the main crowd, it's so worth it.

Ok, so I’ve been following the chatter about how crowded the Disney parks are, how Disney keeps selling these premium experiences, which are also crowded, so they sell a premium experience on top of the premium experience. I hate how this is the way we experience Disney now, but I have to admit I’m one of the suckers who pay up. So recognizing that, we’re taking a much needed step back from Disney next year.

Just a ticket or pass to get into Disney is so expensive, and prices keep going up every year. We can debate how much value you get from a ticket to Disney when the whole park is open to you all day, compared to other forms of entertainment. But that value becomes harder to justify if you’re spending 65 minutes waiting for a ride, or 2 hours staking out a spot to watch a 17 minute fireworks show.

So in our case, at Disneyland, we pay up $10 a head for MaxPass so we can pull FPs wherever we are and fit in attractions pretty much back-to-back. We pay up to reserve dining packages so that we get preferred seating for the Paint the Night parade and Fantasmic. Is it worth it? I don’t know. These upcharges certain make our time in the parks more enjoyable, but it also makes a day at Disney a much more expensive undertaking.

And it seems like there’s no stop to this (short of another recession), because despite the yearly ticket increases, the parks continue to be crowded and are getting more packed, people’s attitudes seem to be worsening as their tolerance for crowds are strained and they feel the need to “get theirs” to justify the high cost of being there, and we end up paying for the promise of shorter lines, preferred seating or exclusive access. I’ve sadly begun factoring in these upcharges into our Disney plans in the hopes it’ll mean a more enjoyable time. This shouldn’t be happening.

We went in September, and the heat was insane, but we knew it would be. Crowds were up and down, but not at all terrible. Pretty darn good most of the time. I am still not ready for a Disney break, but we don't go as often as we used to. That said, I am going to be dang sure we are there for the final Illuminations. I don't care what it costs, or how crowded it is! Illuminations has been very special to my family for the last 18 years, and I must see the final show (with a LOT of Kleenex).

What kind of room at Art? The family suite?

Did Marriott ever send out emails about your reward acct status, that showed how many nights or points you had?

REMINDER: Today, 10/31/18, is the LAST DAY to apply for the elevated 100k Marriott points public offers on the SPG BIZ and SPG LUX.

And HAPPY HALLOWEEN, everyone.

I haven't paid much attention to this card but you prompted me to check it out. Ahhh looks so tempting! I'm thinking I could use the points for a Swolphin stay. I'm technically 0/24 right now bc I have a CIP. I plan to apply for the SW pers in flight on Nov 23 and SW biz in Jan. Hmm, decisions decisions!

I can use the Starbucks app at Disney to pay right? Just can't redeem for free drinks?

True. In parks, you can also use Disney GCs.

I’d imagine in Disney Springs, like at Downtown Disney here in CA, Starbucks runs their own stores, so you can pay and redeem with the Starbucks app, but you can’t use Disney GCs.

Hmm tough decision. What does your travel party look like (adults, children, etc) and how much are you planning on using the pool?

Little Mermaid rooms are the furthest from the Lobby at AoA. The have two full-size beds and these rooms are seeing some wear and tear.

Pop has the fully refurbished rooms with 2 queen beds (one is a murphy bed) and very large television.

If theme and pool are important, I would go AoA. If updated room with bigger bed and tv are important, I would go Pop.

Busses are practically the same and you can always use the other resorts' open amenities like busses and quick service.

I'm full of problems today. Couldn't get into Marriott and I need to book a room for Friday. Couldn't get into my HSA account to change my contributions for the rest of the year. Now I can't get search to work on here.

Well caught up from Sunday. How long does it take for a card to work with chase pay. I’ve had the card for a week and it’s still not available with chase pay.

Well finally made my universal reservations. Went with hard rock since they have the room with two queens and a sofa pull out. Made two reservations with ur travel. On the website it showed only one rate. When I called they were able to give me the stay more rate. Although I should have booked a couple months ago since the price is higher.

I've been punished, I've looked up this room probably 6 times over the last two weeks debating, and now today it is $10 higher :rotfl:
