I love credit cards so much!

I thought the Citi AA biz 70k/$4000 offer was going away last week, but I see it's still available. I may have been thinking of the 50k/$50 credit/$2500 MSR, which I don't see now. Anyways, thinking maybe I'll pick that up for DH once I have Hilton biz finished in the next couple weeks. I really like that new Hilton offer too, but I have a more pressing need for the AA miles than the Hilton points. Plus, I'd like to still have a Hilton amex in our wallet at some point during our 2020 Japan trip before I close the card since it has an annual fee, so I need to time DH's application around that.

We don't have any flights planned soon, but DH has a few United miles expiring end of this year. Any easy way to keep those miles from expiring? It's not a lot of miles, so not worth a huge amount of trouble.

They have a shopping portal and a dining rewards option. When my miles were expiring I signed up for the dining program, made one purchase which gave me a bonus plus the dining points and it extended my miles again.

Yes, that's the sort of thing I was hoping for. So it will work to extend expiration of points. Dining and shopping I will be doing plenty of before the end of the year. Lol

Make a single purchase through the shopping portal for something you would buy anyway. Donating miles also keeps your account active.

IHG released their new Point Breaks. The Indigo on the Riverwalk in San Antonio looks interesting, but it's 15,000 points. Used to be the Point Breaks were all 5,000.

If you happen to be in Raleigh Durham area we stayed at the Indigo there and it is 10K points. The room was excellent and very large. We also had a free breakfast buffet because of changing our rate which was definitely worth free and I would have paid for it.

Another suggestion: purchase an e-gift card from MileagePlus X (United’s gift card marketplace app), earn United miles and credit card points, stack with shopping portals.

I check in on upcoming flights every once in a while just to make sure there are no weird changes. Low and behold this morning I check on the Delta app and our fall flight to MCO was cancelled and we were rebooked for a 6+ hour layover in Salt Lake City and a next day 5am arrival. Aww, heck no! My fam is a wreck on overnight flights! Can't change on the app, online wants to charge us, call DL and I'm waiting for my call back in 2+ hours. Messaged on Twitter in case they magically get back to me first. Unfortunately the alternative flight has a before the birds are even awake departure that leaves us wanting hotel rooms the night before our flight. Dangit Delta!!

Delta did this to my daughter a few weeks ago (fortunately I had purchased the flight through the Chase UR page and they sent an email right away that the flight had been cancelled; if they hadn't, no telling when we might have happened to find out). Luckily the flight is a popular route and she actually ended up with a slightly better time, but I had purchased the economy fare but not the lowest tier economy because it was only about $25 more and it's worth $25 to get to choose a seat . . . Anyway, when Delta cancelled the flight, she logged into her "my trips" on Delta and was offered several new flights but only at the lowest level of economy. She had to call Delta (with a similar 2-hour hold time) to change the flight and keep the ability to select her seat. I thought that was pretty slimy on Delta's part.

Wow - that is a terrible change. Was the original flight a nonstop?

That is awful! I hate when airlines do this and don't even tell you. It's you and your time mean nothing. Maybe it's just coming out of Denver, but Delta always has the worst flights for us. Long layovers every time.

That's awful, Delta strikes again!!!! Our return flight from London last year, went from non stop, leaving at noon, to a change of planes in Amsterdam leaving at 7 am, with a nice layover. Um NO!
I hope you can find a flight that will work to change to!

Well, I have to hand it to Delta Twitter team. I got a response back from them in about an hour and a half offering to re-book us on the flights I requested and they are making sure we get the extra legroom seats we originally booked. That was... easy. I tweeted them our confirmation numbers, names, date and route and what I wanted instead in the original DM and they're booking it and will email me the confirmation. Definitely use Delta Twitter if you find yourself in this situation!

Glad your issue was resolved to your satisfaction. It's so annoying when the airlines do this, and it's not just Delta. We had something very similar happen with United recently. We had purchased United flights to Maui going through SFO from Boise for a Spring Break trip with my parents. We at least got a notification from United, but on our return, rather than an early afternoon flight out of Maui, going through SFO and getting us back to Boise around 11pm, they put us on a redeye flight to Denver (7 hour flight and totally out of the way) and then on to Boise. Um, no!! I called United, but they had nothing to offer me. Apparently, they have been demoted from the daytime flights out of Maui, so they only have the evening flights. But still, Denver??? So I just cancelled the whole reservation for a full refund and booked flights on Alaska instead. They were ridiculously more expensive than the United flights (like twice as much), but my Dad was paying and was pretty desperate for us to have something locked up given Spring Break, so he encouraged me to just go ahead and buy the Alaska flights. I actually ended up getting first class, since they weren't that much more expensive than coach, and I am paying the difference.

Wooo! Chase is taking off my $15 late fee and my $1.37 in interest! They get bonus points over AMEX... I still feel like this is the one that should be more likely to be turned down, because I just forgot what day my bill was due... vs with AMEX I had changed my checking account and didn't realize I still had the old one linked...
