are u still within your year?

i walked out with a bacon burger, regular fries and a bacon hot dog. paid $3.00 after $18 off.
so to use this offer, I need to order ahread thru chasepay app? does it automatically apply the discount? thanks

My work area is under the maintenanc shop... I think they're gonna coe through the ceiling today...

I love this for many reasons, but especially for the mention of yard sales :) I just got weird looks from coworkers this morning by mentioning we used to go to them and have them ourselves growing up. I feel like not many people do that anymore. But also, yard sales in my area of CO are not like the area I grew up in at all.
I'm a huge fan of yard sales (we call them tag sales around here) and estate sales. We just had a tag sale last weekend!

We went to Lowe's on Saturday and each bought a $100 Lowe's GC with our SPG Biz cards. The charges posted this morning and we both got our $10 credit at the same time. :woohoo:

What’s the cash price of the tickets? You would need all 100k points to get 33k SPG, that’s just enough for one round trip ticket, but that could be several hotel nights.
this is what I was thinking..... pp is planning to spend a lot of valuable points for the airline tickets, unless they're very pricey tickets,is it worth it?

WOW...lots of information!! Thank you SO much for your help! I opened a CSR this morning--YAY! Looking forward to getting started with that one as soon as it arrives. I'm hoping to use it for all of my everyday purchases and then pay it off each month so I can rack up the points faster. I still have a large payment left on my room only reservation for WDW this summer, so I'll use it for that. We are planning a trip in April and June 2019, so I'm hoping to get enough points to help offset that cost.

Thanks again for all of your advice!
Have you considered also opening a CSP? if you can make 8k in spendings, apply for the CSP. You will end up with 105k UR points.

order through chasepay, it applies automatically.

Can someone help me with math here pls...

Flights on SW 25,364RR each or $378 cash

Same flights thru CSR at 1.5x... 25,200UR each ($252)

Plus thru CSR I'd earn RR right, and double since the promo is through June...so 3904RR back on each seat.

So seems booking through UR is the way to go?
unless easy changes are important, yes I would guess so. I always do points b/c of the change thing(and my inability to plan properly)

Hey, if I downgrade my BCP to the BCE will I keep my current earned reward dollars? AF just hit and I am ditching the card. If it earned me 6% at Fred Meyer I would be all over it but it doesn't so 'Bye Felica'

on Amex offers...one thing I noticed on the hilton 100/20 offer is you have to buy online at hilton.com for the offer.... anyone with hilton booking experience know if you can combine points and gc on a reservation?

With all this talk of DL trips, has anyone (cough @Albort) heard when Black Tap will be opening in Downtown Disney? I haven't heard any updates which is making me think not soon :(

That's a good idea. I can get DH to apply for that one! :-)

With Southwest's most recent devaluation, on an absolute CPP basis, using the URs (and not converting to Southwest) will almost always provide a better value. You'll give up some of the flexibility of booking with SW points (i.e. ability to rebook and save points, cancel with no penalty whatsoever, etc.) however you can still change a flight on URs, you just end up with travel credits then.

I think your math seems accurate and if you are 100% you're going on this trip and don't need the flexibility of booking through SW RR points, then the URs will be the more lucrative option for you.

All of that said...a side comment: if you already had SW points and were debating between using existing SW points and UR points, then I'd probably go with SW points to use them and keep the URs free for future travel. Hope all of this helps :)

I'd usually agree, but in this case the flight is in 2 1/2 weeks so our plans are firm and doubt prices would drop.

In that case I would definitely use CSR.

To play devil's advocate, well and cause it actually happened to our SFO-SNA leg of our CA trip in 2.5 weeks as well, our flights dropped about $45 over the weekend. So decisions, decisions. Depends if you want to roll the dice on flights coming down a bit more? I guess the trade off is the double RR points you would get...since to me the RR 'price' and the UR price are close enough that it's not too material?

That's a good idea. I can get DH to apply for that one! :-)

The idea is for you to apply for it - not DH. Its called a DoubleDip and you have to apply for both cards same day This gets you around the one Sapphire rule that chase has.

Note: Best to use a different browser, or incognito mode, when making the CSP application.

This way you can maximise your UR earning potential, because at a later date you can also have DH attempt the DoubleDip.

That's funny, I normally fly to Orlando in September as well, over Labor Day. I can get flights from RI for $200, or sometimes less, roundtrip. This year is the first time in years we won't be going then too. I'm going in December and I knew the flights would be more but I booked as soon as they opened Thursday and got them for $332 roundtrip (paid with points). I like going in Sept because it's cheaper and less crowded, but last year we had to cut our vacation short due to the hurricane. Our flights got canceled and we found ONE available seat two days before we were scheduled to leave. My LO and I grabbed that (she was still young enough to not need her own ticket) and my DH had to rent a car and drive to South Carolina and grabbed a flight from there!! It was crazy.

We must have been at WDW same time last Sept! That was a crazy time with Irma coming.

I would bet you can. You can use the slider option to use as many points as you choose, and pay with as much cash as you choose, so I would think you could use a GC for the cash portion. I haven't ever tried it, but I bet you could.

I'm interested to see if this works. Usually it'll state in the offer specifically if it's a cumulative spend ("one or more transactions") otherwise, without that, it's generally needed a single transaction. But you're correct they don't specifically state that either, so I'm very interested to see if it triggers it.

I will let you know and will message them if it doesn't. Worst case, he has a stay in July for a concert that for sure is over $300 so I will have that stay post to this amex. Just annoying if I wasted those 2 nights last week for no reason and they could've gone on CSR.

WGA fares are sold out for most of the flights on our travel days so I am considering myself lucky that the prices are as low as they currently are. I am hoping they don't increase before DH gets home from work and can call UR with me to buy them.

If you can pull off 8k of spend in the same three months, then I think @Albort was suggesting you open the CSP too today. Then later you can refer DH to one or both and get more points.

Since you can only hold one Sapphire card at a time and you're locked out of the bonus for 24 months, the loophole for one person to get both cards is to double dip them on the same day. Since you got your CSR today, you'd have to be approved for the CSP today as well, which means 8k in the same 90 days.

If you can't, then no harm in having DH get the CSP later for 55k bonus (50k sign up + 5k for a AU card) or referring him to CSR for 60k (10k for you for referring, 50k for him sign up), but that would mean spending another AF (which if using both the travel credit and GE/TSA Precheck benefits again the extra points should cover spending the fee.) You'd have to work the numbers for your situation.

But congrats on the CSR! (should have lead with that but sense of urgency so you don't miss out if you wanted the double dip :) )

Gotcha!! That makes sense...man, you guys are GOOD!! ;-)

I am considering getting the SPG business card.
I am taking a break for awhile with Chase and the only business card from Amex that interests me isn’t the SPG one. I see on Reddit it says to ask here before applying so I thought I’d run it by you guys first.
I know the $200 statement isn’t a great offer but Im staying at two Sheraton within a year so it would get used .
Also would like an Amex to get all these offers you guys are getting.

Just saw RI and got excited -- not too many of us. Where abouts? I'm in Saunderstown
