I love credit cards so much!

Ok. So for those of you who use AMEX to get discounts. I did 2 of them today. $15 off $30 At Sams Club and $100 off $500 for Carnival Cruises. I put the offers on my card then went and did the transactions. Both show as pending. But was over on Cruise Critic and everyone was saying how they got an email from AMEX right after they purchased letting them know to watch for their credit. I have not received an email for either one. Is that normal or a bad sign??

it sometimes doesnt show up... wait until the transaction is done and check again.

There used to be a thread but a lot of the discount codes they allowed quit working. I am on their email list so I get BOGOs occasionally, or $ off codes. They are usually for certain movies. When "Greatest Showman" came out, they had a BOGO on the tickets that only lasted for a few hours so you had to be on it.

I definitely want to stay stocked up on the GC's. Our family usually goes to the first morning showing b/c the cost is $5 (amc). If we pay with GC's we got at 35%, we are hardly paying more than the $2.50 theater we have (which is kind of yucky compared to the AMC), and it's where the movies go when they are about to hit dvd.

I was clearly confused, because I sure thought the OP was asking about WDW tickets. :rolleyes1

Great idea! We had this offer as well. Did you order online? Our store doesn't have the disney GC. I am assuming there is an option to split payment on Sams?

I did do this deal all from the comfort of my sofa in under 5 mins!

So my other good news for today is that I met my SPG Biz spend! I didn't even know it, unfortunately, because I knew I would have to make a payment before I hit the spend. So I think I accidentally went over my limit. Is that really, really, really bad?? I think it was just maybe $20 over and technically maybe I didn't because I had over $100 still in pending. I made a payment this am while they still said pending. But my spending power said $0 then it jumped up to almost my full payment amount. Am I going to get a fee for that? I have never done that before, but the CL was low, though not as low as some of the ones people were getting. I seriously woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it because one of the last emails I saw before I went to sleep was my ATT payment processed but I didn't think about my CL till about 4 am. I knew that would make it close to my limit. Stupid dreaming about credit cards.

Still plugging along on my spg spends...$2200 more on biz and $1900 more on personal...And we appear to be the odd duck who didn't get approved for the CIC so I'm anxiously awaiting my letter to see if there is any way I can sweet talk my dh into a recon phone call...But yes, kind of funny what happened here on Mother's Day!!

I surprisingly met all 3 of our April min spends already....2 of which were amex and I find challenging.
Good luck on the CIC recon!

I just got a Chase email offer giving me 500 RR for enrolling one of my SW cards in paperless billing. This is the second time. I enroll, I get my points, I unenroll. Easiest RR ever.

adding this to my to-do list!

Ok, I couldn't wait any longer...double dip was a success! Instant approval on the CSR, but had to call in and move credit around for the CSP. Looks like Chase has extended all they can with me. support links used and Pm's sent! Now to spend $8000 :faint:

Congrats!!

To go that long without a minimum spend would be very tough on me, so I completely understand why you’re looking at the Hilton card. I also took a look at this before and I honestly didn’t even have a real use for the points and yet almost pulled the trigger. If you have a use for the points I see no reason not to get that card (and potentially even have your husband get one too down the line) to keep busy while you wait to go under 5/24.

I agree. I am going for one for each of us as soon as we get past the rolling 90 day amex rule. We do alot of Hilton stays though. I can recommend some good properties if you like.

We need a light weight travel car seat for our plane trips with DD this fall and next year. DH set his heart on a specific car seat with a specific design that is only sold at Walmart, but it has been out of stock for a few months. I have been checking back every few days and today it was finally back in stock!

Used PP to check out, so we just capped out our CF bonus for the quarter too!

Do you think DD will like it?

My DD has a Minnie one like that for her travel/golf cart seat.

Will we need to set-up a new user account for DH's CIC? He already has the CIP and I was expecting to see the CIC there like I do with the personal accounts where I can see my Disney, CSR, SW Premier, SW Plus and Marriott. I was trying to figure out what his credit limit is and had expected to see it with his CIP.
I was just approved yesterday for the CIP and can see it on my account along with my SW business card...not sure if it shows up instantly

So I'm looking at my USPS informed delivery and I've got something from IHG rewards coming. On the front it shows the new Premier rewards card with the tag line "Earn 5,000 bonus points. Details inside"
Am I supposed to be impressed? If that's all I'd get with the 'upgrade' that's almost insulting.

RE: my IHG offer. Yep, that's it. Isn't there a saying if someone repeats themselves over and over it's not really a good deal? Something like that. It's literally 3 sentences with a table of the card benefits side by side... and the same sentence is repeated twice so it's really only 2 sentences. Evidently there's not much else to say about it but they needed to fill space :)

Although I do like how they worded the new annual fee:
" In addition to all the great benefits that come with the IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card, you will have a new annual fee of $89"
I actually imagined an exclamation point at the end there, it was so positive and got me into it until that point, when after a split second my brain went "Hey :scratchin Wait that's more"

I guess if you don't care about the 10% back on points stays and you were going to get TSA PreCheck or Global Entry anyway (so that pays for the fee) and you didn't want a new account on your credit report it makes sense. But otherwise just apply for the new card if you want it and get actual points. I can't imagine a ton of conversions with that offer.

Usually I get an email right away. But, I have also added an offer after doing the transaction and have gotten the credit.

Have you checked to make certain you have the correct email on your Amex account?

Busy morning and just getting a chance to respond. I've not read through so I'm guessing you got your questions answered already. Did you go for it? Glad you are doing the double dip. I think having that CSR for your trip will really be beneficial!!

Most of our family thinks we are crazy too because we keep going to the same place lol but like you, I have kids stretching over such a huge range. My 7yo loves Disney as much as my 17yo (actually she turned 18 yesterday :faint: )! Where else can you go that meets all kid's interest and keeps us entertained all day long!?!

I got the email from Amazon too about my membership. Mine is going up to $119. We use the heck out of it and are grandfathered into the old plan so I won't do anything except pony up the extra $20 a year.

Happy Birthday to your DD!! When DS turned 18 it took me a little to realize I had an ADULT child, ahh!

Yeah, I figure as long as everyone is happy then why not? Plus, I'm not really interested in bringing a two year old on a long flight. When she is a little older I definitely will!

I couldn't do without my Prime membership either. I'm surprised now I got the email saying it will be $99. Maybe because I have their Visa? Surely it can't be all the
money I spend with them:rolleyes1

ETA: this was supposed to be my response to @wendow post above. On my phone and totally messed that up lol
