I love credit cards so much!

!!! Thanks! That helps a ton! I called and got the card expressed so should have it by the weekend.

Just make sure the CIC is added to your PayPal account and you checkout through PayPal. Gyft won’t earn 5x on the CIC if you charge it on the card directly.

Some people have reported their Gyft purchases being held up for security verification. I think this happens if you are doing high volume and/or you have a new Gyft account. I’ve been using Gyft for some time and can’t say this has been an issue more than once or twice.

Does anyone know how long it takes for SW points to show up when going through the SW shopping portal. I just bought wife/Mom flowers for mother’s day and could use the points later in the month when booking airfare.

I am indeed on the East Coast in MD and our public schools are good. We live in one of the smaller counties though so our schools don't have the same opportunities as some of the larger counties have for their students like the majority of other counties offer Algebra I in 7th grade, ours doesn't offer it until 8th grade. DS11 just needs to be challenged more than he currently is. He has already "skipped" a grade (he s/b in 5th but is in 6th) and is in all honors classes. Plus the majority of the kids know he is younger and skipped so that makes it rough on him at times. Plus not all of the teachers treat the kids with respect. Apparently, one of the staff felt it was acceptable to call some of the students dunces during lunch the other week because they were standing up too early for recess. That's totally unacceptable in my book. When I dropped him off for his shadow day this morning, the faculty was outside greeting the students and shaking their hands. One of the classes he'll get to attend today is a leadership class. Plus the classes will be smaller in size. His host for the day is taking 7th grade math.

They recently closed our neighboring public high school so our local public high school is now overcrowded and I hear there are more fights, crowded classrooms, less classes to select from, etc so it is preparation for that also. Plus we only have one child which makes it easier to afford. We'll just need to cutdown on all the dining out that we do and take less vacations. So I have 6 LONG hours until I pick him up and I'll be going crazy until then.

Oh wow, sounds like the school may be ok but definitely not a good place for your ds. He sounds like a super bright kid!! I hope it goes well for him today! It still seems so expensive for secondary school but in this case, you gotta do what is best for your ds. Hey, at least you now have 20k more annual spend that you can (hopefully) put on CC's :)

I stick with my Citi Costco for gas at Costco and everywhere - 4%....

Same! Costco Citi gives 4% on gas everywhere (even the grocery store stations that their fine print says don't count for 4%) so I've just been doing that. I could buy gas station GC's to use at other stations but the gas is typically higher. I do best at Costco or Kroger (with fuel rewards).

I wonder what I am doing wrong since I'm only at 30% and had to move credit around in order to get the SW Plus and Marriott.
Percentage is just one measure, the other appears to be total credit- whichever is lower. It think the current recommendation is to reduce credit limits to 50-70k even if you have a large income if you hoping for auto-approval. BUT- you could also be denied and then you're stuck with those lower credit limits so don't go crazy cutting your CLs!

It was the business which I just found out was not a good move. Applied for the CIC yesterday and called today to find out the status. Apparently I have too much credit I’m not using. Which don’t fully understand since the credit line is 11.5k and I’ve put 7-8k a month on it.
I asked if I could move some credit to the new Card to get it approved and it was hard no. Another thing she said was I just opened a business card in September. Does have me concerned about getting him approved for the sw business late this year.
There has been 8 months between my applications. DH would have 9 months between them before “he” applies.

Hm. I’d consider reducing your personal and/or biz credit lines and trying again in 30 days due to 0/30. Is the $11.5k inclusive of the credit line moved over from the SW Biz? How does your overall extended credit look? It sounds like a BS reason because you have folks here getting approved with only a month to three months since their last Chase biz card.

Unfortunately, that means the CIC 50k offer may be gone by then, but the CIC is supposedly not going away and the CIU is supposed to have a 50k UR too. If the CIC offer drops back down to 30k, but the CIU offer is 50k, you could apply for the CIU at 50k and PC to a CIC in a few months (if you prefer the bonus categories better).

How do I get chase to remove them off his credit report? Rather have them gone so it doesn’t affect his. Luckily he hasn’t really looked at his accounts since I’ve been doing it. But to be safe I should remove them to not be included in his opening accounts.

I’d log into DH’s Chase account and send an SM to Chase with the request. Something to the effect of, I see from my credit reports that I am listed as an authorized user on two of my wife’s Chase credit card accounts ending in xxxx and xxxx; I am no longer an AU on those cards, am not and have never been financially responsible for the charges on those cards, so can Chase remove reference to those two cards from my credit reports with each of the credit bureaus to which Chase reports?

When I did this for my wife, it was a back and forth over SM with a few reps in different depts. that took about a week, but now her AU accounts are completely gone from her credit reports.

Got a Chase offer for like $0.35/gallon back in "fuel rewards" this morning when using Chase Pay- even knocking 0.35/gallon off our Costco is still cheaper!

@miztressuz I got approved for the CIC this morning and I already sent a SM asking them to transfer $4k of the CIP credit line to my CIC. It is already done. It is super easy to move and reduce credit limits, so I would definitely not be worried about it.

Also, I sent an SM asking about my MSR on CIP, since I thought I had hit the requirement. Turns out I am $22 short. No idea how, but I guess I need to buy something today.

So after getting the CSR/CSP a couple weeks ago I'm now at 61% of household income in Chase CL's. This sounds no good for getting a CIC, especially since on my CSP app they asked if I wanted to add more income before they approved it. (I said no, still got approved)
I was thinking about just taking 5k off my Disney card to leave room for the CIC because I don't need that anymore (years back I asked for the 5k increase to cover a trip and haven't been close to even my original CL ever since) but after working the numbers I realized how high I was. And I'm thinking while 57% is better, probably not good enough? I don't really want to reduce my other cards... even if I did what I was willing to lose it wouldn't bring me under 50%, it's really that high limit on the CSR. Probably a little irrational but I was trying to avoid touching the new CSR since it just seems odd to ask for a credit reduction so soon after receiving it, like haven't even got the first statement yet soon. But when they approved that it basically doubled my CL with them. Do you think I should ask to reduce it enough to bring me under 50%?

And what do you say when you ask to have it reduced? Like if I have to call, do they ask why? It's still a little unfathomable to me to ask to have less credit but I know it's for a good cause :)

I don’t think it’ll throw up any red flags if you ask to reduce a credit line on a card you just got.

A lot of people are stunned by how high of a credit limit they get on the CSR. And I know a lot of people don’t feel comfortable having that much credit available to them. Too tempting to go on a spending spree that they can’t pay back. So I don’t think it’s strange at all to go back to Chase and ask them to lower it to something more reasonable.

You don’t have to call to reduce your CL. Do it via SM. Log into your Chase account, go into SM, select credit cards and the account you’re writing about, and just ask to reduce your CL on card ending in xxxx from $xxxxx to $xxxx. No need to offer up any explanations. They’ll get back to you, and the change is effective immediately (although it might not reflect on your credit reports until Chase updates the credit bureaus).

I'm pretty sure MILs credit cards are the Costco Citi, Capital One Venture (the 1.25x on everything), and then SPG personal and Disney purely because of me and the wedding trip. I'm also pretty sure she uses her Costco card at Costco and nowhere else. It hurts...

ETA: Maybe I should label her cards too while I update DHs tonight!

I just used Plastiq for my property taxes. Looking forward to the points from CIP but I'm just nervous about sending the payment from Plastiq. I allowed plenty of time. Scheduled for May 18, not due until June 6. I guess I'm nervous for the check to arrive without a payment coupon. Silly, I guess.

I just sent one too. I think it will be fine as long as you put an account number or something in the memo line.

Ha, do you live near me? Mine is also due June 6. I was too worried about sending it without the payment coupon so I just mailed a check :(

I just did this. Plastiq sent the check 4/16, it was FINALLY credited yesterday! I called the county last week because I was panicking. The woman who called me back said she hadn't seen it, but then she put me on hold and came back and said another woman got all of those types of payments and entered them in big batches, and she had it. It took another 4-5 days after that call for it to finally show up in my account. I was worried, but it worked.

I was worried too so I called the tax collector and they told me no problem sending a check without the voucher, as long as the memo has the identifying account numbers. Apparently, a lot of people use their online bill payer option to pay these taxes so they are used to it. I previously sent two via plastiq with no problem. I am about to send another one today.

I feel like I read this somewhere but I'm not able to dig it up. My Chase offers are suddenly showing offers for CSP, CFU, and CF. Before, they just showed stuff for my Disney card and if I took out a mortgage. I don't think I'm under 5/24 yet (I show that I won't be until July). Should I even bother with an application, or are these just there to taunt me? : )

Just about to apply for the CIC and am getting nervous about my Chase history. I am 4/24:

1/17 CSR
8/17 Delta Gold Personal
2/18 Disney Chase and CF (I was not planning to go for business cards when I did this, or I wouldn't have done 2 cards this quickly)
5/18 Delta Platinum Business

The feedback I got 2 months ago was to wait until May, but I don't want to risk a shut down so I wanted to make sure I haven't missed any recent changes. I want to get the CIC before the bonus changes (if it does) and I am ready for a new minimum spend before I go on a work trip in mid-June.

Please help me decide if I am crazy! Thanks!

I think the advice you got two months ago still holds. The Delta Platinum Business should have almost no effect on your calculus because it’s a biz card that won’t show up on your personal credit report. I’m not sure if Amex did a hard pull on your Delta Platinum Biz application, but even if they did, Chase is not particularly inquiry sensitive.

Plastiq type payments? heh heh heh

So I haven't sent an SM in quite some time, I can't even remember why I did it before. I assume that this is an "account inquiry" type from the drop down? That makes the most sense to me but they have an option for Other Inquiry and I can't even think what you'd use that for given their options so now I'm hesitating.

I think I used other inquiry, but account inquiry would make sense. I don't think that matters too much.

Another reason some people may be concerned is if somebody were to steal your card number, the amount of fraudulent charges could be huge. And if you would never need that amount yourself, it would seem prudent not to have it. (In case they ask, lol)
