I love credit cards so much!

I finished the spend on my IHG and secure messaged them about the 80k points and they responded and said they would post the additional 20k points within the next statement. Interesting point I thought was that I put D11 as the AU and never used her card but they still gave me the 5000 points for it. Too bad I am tapped out with Chase right now unless I reduce credit limits. They really are so much more easier to predict and communicate with than Amex!

I had the same issue with Amex approving a business and taking the credit limits. I agree...I wish they would at least ask how they would like the distribution of credit made.

Thanks to the two monthly auto pay bills that went through today, we are now officially at $7006 on DHs SPG biz, even after my Amazon returns (hmmm... that went fast... I blame Vegas!)
Finally finished our SPG biz too. At $5070 ( had the old offer). Took cable and phone bills to post at end of April plus a couple months of car payments thru plastiq.
Chomping at the bit for next card but gun shy. DH was denied CIC when he applied 3/30. I think I fixed the issues but still chicken to go for CIP

I called Chase trying to get matched to the 100k CIP offer. I was told I would be notified of their decision in 7-10 days. I told the rep I want a decision today since if I don’t get the points I want to close the card and get the annual fee refunded since it has just hit 30 days since the fee posted. (I don’t really have an intention of canceling just thought maybe this would have them give me the extra points.) The guy said I can still get the fee refunded after their decision? I’m skeptical. Should I HUCA? Does it normally take 7-10 days when calling to get matched to an offer?

I'm really sorry. Getting back one more time on this double dipping of the SW card because I'm still not quite clear. If you can only get the bonus every 24 months irregardless of which card received the bonus, does one apply for the plus and premier card in the same day/same time in the hopes of there being a glitch in the system??? If that's the case, aren't you risking a ding on your credit score?

Yes, there seems to be a blind spot in the process where even though you are approved for the card it's not available for the application process to see it yet (or at least what product it is), so you kind of sneak in the 2nd application for the same product line when you get approved for both on the same day. This same offer language has been a rule for the Sapphire product line for a little while now and this double dip method has been working so far to get around only having one product in the line rule and getting the bonus for both. Which is why it's suspected to work for SW cards now, and I think @Lain found some confirming data points to that.

I just did the double dip for the Sapphire cards the other week and got approved for both on the same day. Not sure if they do it for all cards, but they pulled both TU and EX credit reports, which DoC reports as fairly typical for my state for Sapphire cards even if you just applied for one of them. So just one inquiry on each and since for me that will make only 1 or 2 in the last 2 years I'm not seeing a dip in any score yet. I'll find out in a few weeks if I get both bonuses and what the impact is fully on my score, but I'm not expecting much of a hit.

Yay, that is good to know! One last thing about this HELOC process, they ran our credit reports and mine was awful! At least by my standards. I wasn't even in their top tier. I check my Discover score and Credit Journey score often and they are top notch. Always slightly above DHs even. My Discover score is 847 my DH is 838. My Credit Journey Score is 828 Dh is 821. The score they gave me was 772! Dh got an 804. They said these were out of 818. They dinged me on Time since recent account opening (Dec 2017), Too many accounts with balance (I have 4 chase CC and Sams and Target, only 2 have had balance in the last year), Too many bank or national revolving accounts with balance (I'm not sure what this means, I think it is Sams and Target, but I have not really used them since I started the CC game last year) and too many accounts in last 12 months (only 2 when I double dipped in December). Why do you think there is such discrepancy in the number they gave me opposed to the other two? I guess I need to pull my Equifax report to see if it correct. That is what they used.

Quoting myself as I pulled my Equifax report. Everything seems right, I have no idea why they dinged me so much. My DHs had 3 of the 4 same "adverse statements" the only difference being the one about national revolving accounts. I think the Sams account also on his report so it could only be Target they are talking about and I only had a statement generate 3 times in the last 12 months and my highest balance was less than $200. Also, I know this gets mentioned from time to time, but there was no Amex inquiry from when I got my SPG biz. And that is my only Amex card.

What do you all think?

If I do this and use my Amex Spg Biz do you think that will be a problem? I.e. have the money not count towards the minimum spend and/or flag Amex to start watching my account?

Amex is seriously so difficult. It will be a huge relief to meet this spend and then take a break from them for a while.

FYI - Several reports in the Disney Gift Card Deals thread say that starting today 5/1/18, BBY GC>GC is no longer working at Best Buy. The system won't allow it. If we can no longer use BBY GCs to buy third-party GCs, then it's doubtful the savings codes coming from this deal in a few weeks will work either. There are contrary reports of BBY GCs working for gas cards, so it's unclear if this new restriction is limited to certain brands of GCs, variable load GCs (vs. fixed denomination), or hasn't been rolled out nationwide yet.

Thanks for the heads up on this thread. I follow the gift card thread too but between this thread being practically a full time job to keep up with and me following the DVC stuff trying to learn the system I haven't looked at it for a couple days. I am glad now I didn't get the BB gift cards! I posted above about it but then never acted on it since the reason I would do it is to use it for the Amex SPG spend and I seriously don't want to do anything to get on Amex's radar. I still don't know what the deal was with the focus on DH's Amex and not wanting to give the points and so since I don't know what we did I am scared to repeat it!

Just closed my Plat Amex (sob). Was offered 10k points to keep open/pay fee. No other offers.

Also got a letter from Bank of America about closing an account I've had dormant for over 3 years. Travel Rewards. Never used that account much in the past DECADE really (it was a different type of card first). BoA was going to close me on June 5, called and told them to close me today. Super old account, goes against credit rules, but I'm a rebel and I don't care. I didn't feel like messing with charging something on an account I don't care about. *Throws caution to the wind!*

Husband is at urgent care currently (around corner from house). Probably has the flu. So I've got that to look forward to - germs everywhere! :sad1:

How much spend did you put on the Plat in the past year? Time to churn through the other Plat varieties?

I'm getting the Ameriprise version in September. Under $3k spend probably. Had card 3 years.

Anyone ever pay personal property taxes through Plastiq with their CIP? Just curious as to how it has shown up with URs. I realize it could vary widely between different localities, just didn't know if we had any DPs.

I'm so glad you mentioned this. I probably would have sent a check, not thinking about it. I will definitely be doing this as long as Plastiq doesn't block it. It seems that everything gets 3x UR when paid with CIP/Plastiq. Hopefully, that won't be any different.

Should code as 3x UR.

Ah, there you go. I hope your husband is feeling better soon.

The misspelling came from me replying on mobile at CVS. An hour wait, with a guy in agony with a broken hand, plus 14 (!) other people waiting and a screaming toddler... ugh. $200 in prescriptions later, DH is drugged and already sleeping.

I should note that LAST year I got 30K MR points for keeping the plat open another year. AF was $450 last year.

I had my DH all ready to call the Cruise and Tour department to get our Disney tickets. He asked for a script, which probably slowed us down so that when we called at 9:15 they were closed.:sad: I don't remember anyone posting hours before, but apparently it is 9 am to 9 pm ET. Just wondering what exactly will we be getting? Will they be Etickets? And then I link them on my App somehow? All this is new to me, I miss real tickets, no magicbands and paper fast passes.

But I did finally get my SPG points to transfer to my DH account! I may have obsessively checked about 5 times every day since Friday. :rolleyes1 So we have the Swan booked for 6 nights! YAY!! My DS is actually quite disappointed, he was hoping for our usual offsite house rental. We seem to be oddballs in that we much prefer space to on site, but the objective this trip is mostly free so we will just have to suffer at the Swan. :)

I love the Swolphin most for the location. We’re not in the room enough to make the hotel that important. We actually preferred the Dolphin to Poly. Love walking to Epcot, HS and DS’s new favorite, Beaches and Cream.

I think we will love the location. And since we are flying this time instead of our usual driving, we won't need a car. The problem is that usually when we stay in a hotel, I try to get a suite with a pull out sofa and my DS gets stuck there since the 2 sisters will share the bed. This time older DD can not go, but 17 yr DD and 16 yr DS do not want to share a bed. Usually we end up with a boy bed and a girl bed. Nobody extremely happy with that but it is what it is.

Sleeping arrangements suck. Lol. I am always stuck with DS9 as he won’t sleep alone in a hotel room. DH gets a bed to himself. :sad2:
