oops, my redemption rate are backwards.
you are right, restaurants/travel with CSP will net you an extra 1%, making is 2x. so spending $4750 on restaurants/travel will net u 9500 UR points, convert those @ $.01 will get u $95. The same applies to CSR, which earns u an extra 2% on top the 1%. 3x. so u need 15,000 UR points, $5000 will net u 15,000UR points. $7500 * 3x = 22,500 UR points.
Edit: i see what u did. ur doing CSP = 1x, CSR = 2x. It should be CSP = 2x, CSR 3x.
I am looking at the difference. As in, if I had a no fee Chase (Freedom) and put $4750 on it, I would get $47.50 in points, using CSP I would get $95, but only a difference of $47.50 for a $95 fee vs no fee card.
I did, however, get my 700 points for a 12 week digital WSJ subscription within a few days of placing the order. I think the deal has changed now, though.
I told him that we only have a few more days (I know we have to apply at a branch), and that it was silly to leave such a great offer on the table - especially since we are now planning a family of 5 trip flying out west next year. His big hold out was that he didn't want another credit card (we only have 3). So once we get this, we'll drop our Chase Sapphire (not even Preferred!). He handles the finances and we pay everything off every month. *I* read all of these awesome deals and want to get in the game, but he just isn't willing to play.
I see it as leaving money on the table. If it were up to me, I'd want to get the Chase Freedom, too! But, I'm not going to push my luck. I'm just happy to get my way on this one.
