I love credit cards so much!

oops, my redemption rate are backwards.
you are right, restaurants/travel with CSP will net you an extra 1%, making is 2x. so spending $4750 on restaurants/travel will net u 9500 UR points, convert those @ $.01 will get u $95. The same applies to CSR, which earns u an extra 2% on top the 1%. 3x. so u need 15,000 UR points, $5000 will net u 15,000UR points. $7500 * 3x = 22,500 UR points.

Edit: i see what u did. ur doing CSP = 1x, CSR = 2x. It should be CSP = 2x, CSR 3x.

I am looking at the difference. As in, if I had a no fee Chase (Freedom) and put $4750 on it, I would get $47.50 in points, using CSP I would get $95, but only a difference of $47.50 for a $95 fee vs no fee card.

Well, I thought I'd follow up with the happy ending to my story! I sent Chase a direct message and told them that "I" was on a business trip and wouldn't be able to follow up with a call for a few days. I said if the issue was the number of cards that I have that the reason I was applying for 2 cards in the same day was that I wanted to use one primarily for personal purchases and the other for purchases that I am reimbursed for through the company that I work for. I got the standard reply that someone would be getting back to me.

This morning, I logged into DH's account and both accounts are there! I guess it was pushed on through - I don't know if it had anything to do with the message that I sent, or if it would have been approved anyway, but now I just need to get some spending in to get the companion pass! I'm very excited!

The odd thing to me is that one of the accounts shows the next due date will be 4/15/17 and one will be 5/1/17. I'll try to get the spend done of the earlier close card first. I really hope to have all of the spending done that I need to get the companion pass by the time the second card closes that way I will get the pass sooner.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice on getting these cards!

I decided to follow your lead and send a SM for DH. I asked them to reconsider my application for the SW Plus because I wanted to keep personal and work related expenses separated and explained I'd be happy to shift some credit around if my credit line was an issue. I got the usual automatic response, then another stating the request was being forwarded to the appropriate dept. Just got a notification of a new SM, and when I logged into his account to check it, the SW Plus account is now showing.......and they didn't lower the limit on the Premier to open it. The message was asking him to please call to discuss, but it looks like they went ahead and opened the account without the phone call. Woo hoo!! CP here we come!!

get a CFU and u get $71.25. but you wont have the option to transfer or redeem on chase portal(1.25/1.5). Its a playing game though. 90% of my purchases are always above the 2x rewards.

We got delayed for almost 9 hours this past Jan at the Denver airport. If we had access to a lounge, I would have been there. Then delayed 3 hours getting home from Dallas. They may have a lounge but I didn't realize that I could get my entire family in on my card or I would have tried it. But otherwise, we tend to fly non-stop also so airport lounges are not a huge deal for us either. I was just shocked Denver didn't have one.
Once on a flight to Costa Rica we were delayed leaving OHare, missed connection in Miami & spent 8 hours there. On the way back, connection in Dallas was short, almost missed it. Which is why I prefer non stop.

CSR # is 800 436 7970. u should get a person automatically. ask them there. might be a reason if they dont send it to u next day... but ive never gotten a no from Chase.
They said it could take 10 days to confirm my Marriott account?!

you have your TSA pre and Global Entry mixed up. As long as you are on the reservation with the rest of your family, your whole family "Should" get TSA pre. Global Entry is where u cannot take someone else with you when u go through customs.

Get Global Entry though, it comes with TSA pre.

Source: went to alaska 2 weeks ago, im the only one with Global Entry, both my parents got TSA pre going and coming.

Interesting! I will have to check into that. I asked at the branch and the banker told me that each family member had to have their own TSA, and I know several family members who have TSA and each one has their own so I accepted that answer without looking into it further. Definitely could be a benefit for me though if we only needed one for all of us!

im looking at the TSA pre website and it does say all is needed. but DP shows otherwise... :\

i guess a lot of factors play into it. but i can confirm my last trip, my parents both got Precheck. we flew Alaska Airlines.

My DH has precheck. When I have been on the same reservation, I usually get it too. When I'm on a separate reservation, no dice. My DD 17 usually gets it even on her own reservation. Low risk I guess.

They should count based on the stated guidelines, but I haven't had the points awarded yet. I took screen shots of everything as I made the purchases, but I have to wait 60 days before I contact SW because they say that's how long it can take for points to be awarded. I'm thinking since it's involving physical magazine subscriptions which take forever to fill, that the purchases might not be reported to SW right away. So it's a good way to rack up points, but not if you're in a hurry. :) I did, however, get my 700 points for a 12 week digital WSJ subscription within a few days of placing the order. I think the deal has changed now, though.

Thank you! I'm going to think on the magazines until tomorrow to decide if I'll be able to get the points before then or if I should go ahead and subscribe.

I do still see the 700 points for the WSJ and they also have a similar offer of 700 points for Barron - they are both $12 for 12 weeks and can be cancelled after 30 days to still receive points.

Just to clarify--I have two trips planned with my kids--Orlando in August and Vancouver next August (Alaska cruise). I should get global entry?

if your credit card would pay $100 for global, get global. You might not use the full potential of ge since i doubt u will want to let your kids own their own through the standard line. But you will benefit from TSA precheck for you and your kids both directions(varies by airlines too)

GE is better for single traveler unless ur partner also has a GE.

Yes I have CSR.
Thanks!

I'll let you know what happens with mine. I only made the purchases 30 days ago, so I have a while to wait before I approach SW. Thanks for the heads up on the Barron deal, I didn't see that one!

For those who have the Marriott Chase card, do you have any idea how far the 80,000 points will go? I see the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas is part of the Marriott and it's roughly $440 a night. They keep sending DH and I offers for credit cards so I am tempted now to apply so we could use the points towards a stay there. Meeting the $3000 spend will be no problem at all. I'd probably have to have DH apply since I need to keep mine credit card requests down so I can apply for the SW cards in Nov/Dec in order to get the companion pass since DS's will expire in Dec.

It looks like it's 35-45k points/night depending on the tower. And if you stay four nights the fifth night is free.

SPG Amex sign on bonus is 35k spg points = 105k marriott points.

I know many of you are waaaay past this, but I *finally* talked DH into the Chase Sapphire Reserve!!! :cool1: I told him that we only have a few more days (I know we have to apply at a branch), and that it was silly to leave such a great offer on the table - especially since we are now planning a family of 5 trip flying out west next year. His big hold out was that he didn't want another credit card (we only have 3). So once we get this, we'll drop our Chase Sapphire (not even Preferred!). He handles the finances and we pay everything off every month. *I* read all of these awesome deals and want to get in the game, but he just isn't willing to play. ;) I see it as leaving money on the table. If it were up to me, I'd want to get the Chase Freedom, too! But, I'm not going to push my luck. I'm just happy to get my way on this one.
