I love credit cards so much!

I know many of you are waaaay past this, but I *finally* talked DH into the Chase Sapphire Reserve!!! :cool1: I told him that we only have a few more days (I know we have to apply at a branch), and that it was silly to leave such a great offer on the table - especially since we are now planning a family of 5 trip flying out west next year. His big hold out was that he didn't want another credit card (we only have 3). So once we get this, we'll drop our Chase Sapphire (not even Preferred!). He handles the finances and we pay everything off every month. *I* read all of these awesome deals and want to get in the game, but he just isn't willing to play. ;) I see it as leaving money on the table. If it were up to me, I'd want to get the Chase Freedom, too! But, I'm not going to push my luck. I'm just happy to get my way on this one.

you can product change that Chase Sapphire down to a Freedom. no pulls.

Interesting! I will have to check into that. I asked at the branch and the banker told me that each family member had to have their own TSA, and I know several family members who have TSA and each one has their own so I accepted that answer without looking into it further. Definitely could be a benefit for me though if we only needed one for all of us!

You should NOT count on that. The only thing you can count on is what is listed on the TSA website, children 12 and younger may use TSA pre-check when a parent or guardian has it on their boarding pass. Beyond that it's luck. I was reluctant to chime in because of the successful DPs of other party members getting pre-check listed here and elsewhere but with the 2 TSA changes in the last month it really changed the value I put on TSA pre-check. Changes being significantly less travelers are supposed to be receiving "free" pre-check and, more importantly imho, the more intrusive groping procedures- uh, I mean "pat downs" http://viewfromthewing.boardingarea...tsa-announces-pat-downs-will-become-intimate/

Seriously thinking about using this to buy Universal IOA tickets... I have it on my AMEX Platinum, Premier Rewards Gold and Green cards.
Same here... I got this on my card, my fiance's, and his parents' cards... They'll be able to use it for Disney tickets, but we have APs this year and still need Universal tickets.

Is Universal worth it? Debating on whether I want to spend $130 on a single ticket...

Depends on what rides/themes you like. Most of the big coasters require 51 inches tall or more. Many of the rides are 3D/4D. If you like those, it's great. Especially if you like HP. My DS was 6 when we went. He loves coasters, sadly he wasn't tall enough for any but the "baby" ones. He didn't much like most of the 3D rides, he is not a fan of violence especially the in your face 3D type. He loves minions & wasn't crazy about that or Shrek the first time but eventually we went on those multiple times.
Personally, I find most of the 3D rides repetitive. They all use the same effects. HP-land was cool but DS & DH not fans so we didn't get to spend much time there. Overall, I liked it but prefer WDW.

I was really hoping to use the CSR 1.5 travel redemptions to book several hotels this summer. It is very disappointing, because all of the hotels I have looked at are way more expensive on the Chase site than on the actual hotel site. Almost all are at least 25% higher in price. So using points does save some money, but not 1.5 worth.

Yeah DH wants us to stick with Disney. No problems here as that saves us $400 plus.

Yeah sometimes the numbers are in your favor, sometimes they aren't. Depends.

I got that survey too, figured something different is coming. Doesn't do me any good, I closed my SW and I am way over 5/24 for a long time LOL.

I found the prices to fluctuate over a few weeks. Kept watching until I found the right price. Or transfer point to hotel partner.

I have found that the best bang for your buck is using them on airlines and rental cars. The prices tend to be the same so you can get max benefit for the 1.5 value.

If I want to close out my Southwest CC and add a different Chase card to get the bonus UR points, can I just call Chase and have them do those transactions over the phone? Or do I have to call to cancel and then apply for the separate Chase card online?

I'm just wondering how much of a hassle they will give me when I tell them I want to close out my Southwest CC....

You can either call them or send them a message. They would have to close that card as that cannot be changed to a UR product. They shouldn't give you any hassle other than asking why you want to close it.
