I love credit cards so much!

So what's the best way to get a "replacement" card from Amex? Can we just order one online like Chase and Discover? Or do I have to figure out how to add it to Google Pay or something?

It just occurred to me this weekend that I've been doing all the grocery shopping for the past couple months but hubby has the 3% BCE card :headache: I've been trying to decide what's better, 2x MR or 2% Discover (from cashback match) and duh! 3% I think trumps that. So it'd be nice to have an extra card so we're not trying to remember to swap the one back and forth.

It's handled for the next couple months with Discover (and Chase) quarter but will need it in the future. And I'd like to do it now before I forget again as I really have a blind spot on this card. It was the random card not planned for in any way and I just can't seem to remember about it.... even as we just discussed last week why has he been using it at restaurants??
("Because it gets 3% ::looks at me like i'm stupid::"
"Uh no, that's at grocery stores only. You can get 2% at gas stations and dept stores and that's about it"
"Really?"
"Really"
::double checks me on his phone:: "Oh" )
It took me until the weekend when I was mapping out grocery purchases for the quarterly bonuses for it to randomly pop into my head that I should just be using his card normally.

For a long time, I actually found requesting a "replacement card" from Amex to be easier than Chase!

Log into your Amex account for the BCE, click on "Account Services" > "Order a Replacement Card for Damaged, Lost, or Stolen Cards" > Select "Damaged Card" (you don't want to select lost or stolen card -- that'll get you a new card number and who knows what other trouble).

can you stack the FFD's? If not then, everyone using plastiq should refer each other to make it somewhat free lol.

Yes, the FFD's do stack. However, you can only receive the sign up referral bonus once, when you first sign up. After that, to earn FFD's, you would need new plastiq users to use your link to sign up.

I deliberated A LOT on this one but ultimately cancelled my SPG personal card. I couldn't justify the annual fee and they didn't offer anything in the way of retention. The only reason there would have been to keep it was "support" clicks on that card. But the incognito offer is better than the "support" offer and I can't in good conscience recommend anybody to go for a lower offer. (Watch, now that I cancelled they'll release a 35k personal offer LOL - you're welcome ;))

So cancelling seemed to be the right move...Plus it frees up a CC slot with AMEX for me which isn't a bad thing. I just feel sad when I cut up one of my little friends and throw them away, lol! (That sounds way darker than I intended it to...)

A few of us who have been here a long time used to share links with each other through pm's but that was pretty infrequent. Then @SouthFayetteFan started the DISchurners group and that has certainly given us a better avenue for supporting each other.

A few here are active on r/churning and can post links there but that isn't open to most of us because we are not regular contributors to that site.

Outside of that, I am guessing most of us here do not post links any other places. You can certainly put them on social media if you feel you could get some clicks that way. I am not really into social media so I don't do that either.

never quite bothered with r/churning because it used to require a single post karma, which i thought it was impossible to do. But they have removed it so im happy.
Out of all the places i have post my referrals, i must say this group is the one place i get a few of. I have returned the favor on a few but also had to apply directly due to a better bonus.
Ive also gotten a few more by actually helping people, they returned the favor and used my referral. I do a few supports with a few friends and they have always used my referrals. :]

@thevalley Learn learn learn, teach teach teach, you will get referrals soon! :]

I have a discussion with a pro churner about the SPG personal card. Mine is up this month or next month, had thoughts about cancelling... but now im convinced on keeping it for at least another year...

We have a Marriott personal, 2 SPG biz and this SPG personal...there's no way I could see myself paying almost $400 in fees for all of these cards, lol. SPG personal and Marriott personal fees are due at the same time right now and I think I'm going to pay the Marriott to keep it (not quite sure why but...it just feels right, lol).

ROFL, better stick to big friends- although that support link paid off for another member here when I could not for the life of me get the freaking 30k offer to pop up and went for a 25k link but it was a weird set of circumstances that landed me there so I know my use of that spg personal link was an oddball out, I wouldn't have kept that card around in your shoes either :)

Excellent, I was hoping they didn't do anything dopey like deactivate the first card if I did it that way. Thanks!

I'm still kicking myself around for not keeping my personal Platinum open after they offered me $300 statement credit or 30k MR points with no spend requirement just to keep it another year.

I went into my cancelation call thinking that I had a good chance of a high retention offer (I spent over $25k on the Plat organically, mostly because of MPX), but $300/30k MR no spend was the best I could've hoped for. The AF is $550, and I already used up the $200 airline credit this year, but I'll have it again next year, bringing the effective fee down to $350; and another year of Uber/UberEATs credits worth $200, essentially bringing the fee down to $150. But I would've taken the 30k MR points, so that's still $550 cash out of pocket.

With plans to apply for the MB Platinum for a last shot at the 60k MR bonus, I'd end up paying two $550 AFs. I think my wife would've killed me if I took the offer and kept two Platinums open. But the big thing for me was I didn't want to risk Amex suddenly enforcing the language that the MB Plat offer isn't valid for existing Platinum cardmembers.

Like I said, still kicking myself whether I made the right choice.

P.S. I can't in good conscience post support links for my Amex MR cards either. The incognito and targeted offers are almost always better than the public or referral links.

Wonder what changes Chase is contemplating for the United card.....

Guys - I think we're in a funk here... SPG and Delta increased offers were long ago...

These ended like... last week?

CIC increased offer is old news now...

This came out like two weeks ago?

Barclay new card kinda stinks...

Agreed.

IHG changes are bad news...

Monday.

Southwest devaluation is bad news...

Tuesday.

And we haven't really had any exciting newbies jump into our thread where we all get excited for their newfound churning love.

Agreed. You lurkers need to come in here and join the fun!

We need something big, LOL! Where's that increased CSR offer when we need it?

I don't know... I mean, people weren't that excited when Chase increased the CSP bonus to 60k but at the cost of a $95 AF.

Why can't AMEX release some details on their new SPG/Marriott cards...give us something here to excite the masses :) haha!

I think this is the big one that everyone's anticipating.

March was a pretty good month on the signup bonus side despite some significant nerfs on the bonus earnings and benefits side going back to February, e.g., no more MPX earning 3x/5x MR, no more MPX triggering Chase bonus categories, JetBlue ending its 3x Amazon portal, Amazon pulling its cards from Gyft and Swych, no more 3x UR on Cashstar with CIP; and of course, IHG and Southwest devaluations.

alright, what time is it? its learning time.... what does incognito mean. i would not want to refer others if something is better elsewhere. i hope that i didn't do that with my links.

We have an insider!

Yeah but the excitement has long since worn down. SPG Biz excitement carried us for a good 2-3 weeks. Even though I'm largely on the sidelines for these offers since I either already have the card or am waiting on 5/24 status it's just fun to see the thread have a lot of excitement around a great new offer.

Oh the things we do for MSR... we are doing a dinner cruise on our trip - like $350 for the family. DH was concerned about it selling out, so he booked it before I got my shiny new SPG Biz (much to my chagrin). Well, I just found a coupon code for the same dinner cruise, and no, it has not sold out yet. So I booked it (on my SPG Biz) and he was able to cancel the original booking (on the CIP - but I'm still over the MSR on that one even with the refund, so all is good). So, I saved us $40 AND got the spend on the card where I wanted it. Yay!

Sorry - I like reading about other people's MSR shenanigans, so I figured I'd share...

Incognito offers are only a thing on some AMEX personal cards. There's a note about it on the support link page - not everybody is going to get them to come up. They also come and go (meaning sometimes they aren't available at all). You find them by opening up an "incognito" or "private" browsing window and going to the AMEX site as if you aren't a current customer.

A lot of the better or best offers on Amex personal cards are not available to the public; they're targeted in mailers, online ads, to specific accounts, and often available using "incognito" or "private" mode on your web browser and a few tricks to trigger the better/best offers.

DoC has a recent article here and instructions here.

:rotfl:

I was thinking of you when I posted my Marriott points for my upcoming trip - esp. after I realized I probably should have added a value in points for the portion of the MSR that I was meeting - which would push the total points earned even higher. But I figured no one cared that much...
