I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

hi everyone, hoping you can give me some advice on a credit card dilemma my brain is struggling with. I have booked a Tour de Mont Blanc hiking trip with a travel agency for next summer, and put the deposit on my CSR before Oct 26 to get the 3x on travel. My intention was to put the rest on Cap1 Venture and erase with points. Tonight I just realized the charge coded as entertainment 😩 So no 3x and won’t be eligible for Cap1, but there’s still time to change my strategy since the rest isn’t due til May-ish. What cards have “points erase” features that would cover entertainment? I don’t think I’m wording my google searches correctly because I’m just getting results about points multipliers.
Not going to help you in a erasing but the saver card from capital one earns 3X on entertainment which you could then later combine with your venture when you go to erase an actual travel charge

For the stubhub credit. Does it need to be all one purchase or can you spend until you get to 150?

I'd love to know this too!

I didn't even think about this! But yes, you can spend until it reaches $150.

I thought 2 tickets for an event to use the credit, and it came out to ~$100. Then later I got an email from Stubhub asking if I'd like to purchase a parking pass for the event. The cost of parking from the convention center is $20 and Stubhub charges $45! But since I have no other use for the remaining $50, I purchased it. I didn't even think it wouldn't credit. I would be pretty upset to pay over double for parking unnecessarily but luckily the charges & credits have already posted.

For those of that have been to Italy, which type of train ticket did you purchase? The base fare or the changeable day/time fare?

If you purchased the changeable one, did you end up changing your ticket time? I need to buy tickets for Rome-->Florence and Florence-->Venice.

We did end up getting changeable tickets, just for our peace of mind. Never had to change any. We also paid to preselect our seats because we were traveling as a family of 6, so it just seemed easier than having to spread out all over.

This was my hope since I'll most likely buy single game tickets for just me but also parking. I have been able to get parking for less before but it was also closer to the game but may have also been on seat geek.

Parking is terrible at our light rail stations, in that I may not be able to get parking and it is almost double the time to use it vs just driving. But the cost of parking for games has gotten insane.

I didn't buy changeable but did end up changing my ticket from Rome to Florence. It was a flexy fare which was 90% refundable.

If you book on-line through Italia Rail, you can get a refund of your booking fees by sending an email to seat61@italiarail.com.

Sorry if this was asked already, but does the new CSR (which now gets 4x on flights and hotels booked direct) earn 4x on Disney resorts?

Disney room charges (and the hotels themselves) would previously fall under the CSR's broad 3x travel category. But now that it's more restrictive as "hotels booked direct" I'm curious if Disney resorts are going to code as a direct Hotel purchase, or if it will fall under some other broad travel category. For example, DVC dues payments no longer count as "travel" on the CSR because those are a Timeshare purchase, which did fall under the CSR to get 3x travel previously, but would not fall under the new CSR for 4x.

The reason I ask is because the idea would be keeping a CSR card on file whenever we stay at a Disney hotel. If you charge everything to the room (such as dining and merchandise) we'd get 4x.

I would say logically they should, but we'll need some DPs. Those of us grandfathered into the old structure only cut over 4 days ago, but maybe someone who opened the newer card has confirmation?

Yeah, we need someone basically on property now to give us a heads up!

I'm mostly curious because I'm staying at POP next week and want to put my CSR as the card on file. So if we can't get an answer by then, I guess I'll give my feedback in roughly 2 weeks time!

@DoubleBaconBLT put his direct DVC Contract on the CSR and it coded as Hotel giving them the 4x. With the old card it would code as timeshare and gave the 3x

Good to know!

Semi-related datapoint: I just called in to the DVC member services line to add on Photopass to one of our Sorcerer Passes (the $99+tax add-on) and the charge came in as "WDW GUEST SERVICE" and Mercant type on my CSR says "Amusement parks, circuses, carnivals, fortune tellers". So I highly doubt I'll get 4x here, not that I was planning on it. Again, will be putting my CSR on file at POP Century next week and charging various things to the room and hope we get 4x.

Yes tickets and such directly from Disney has always coded as entertainment.

Now I need to find a good fortune teller though :rotfl2:

Interesting report on DoC suggesting that some banks (inc Chase) might be moving toward requiring an EIN for Biz card applications.

Seems like the screw is slowly tightening.
As it should.... lots of fraud out there on business cards...just look in this thread!
