I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

It seems so expensive for what it is especially if we get fast track tickets and I’m thinking we would need to.

Our other thing we can’t decide is what time to schedule the Tower of London. We’re doing it our first morning but idk if we’ll be up at 9 am to get the first time slot. We land in London at 8 pm the night before and I’m sure we won’t be asleep until 11 or 12.
I took DD to the tower twice - once early in the morning at opening and it was great and not too crowded, and once in the afternoon (after Tower Bridge and a few other sights) and it was much more congested, so my vote is for morning. ;)

I have held both the Citi and Barclays AA personal cards. They didn't overlap for long, I applied for barclays on 4/28/2025 and cancelled the Citi on 5/17/2025. It was no problem being approved for the Barclays while having the CIti, but I have read that AA and Barclay were going to part ways in 2026, then it will only be Citi.

https://viewfromthewing.com/barclay...an-airlines-will-reshape-your-miles-strategy/
Speaking of Barclays parting ways with AA: I just got an email from Barclays that the "FlightCents" feature, where you can round up every purchase to essentially "buy" more miles, is going away in March 2026, so that might be a good indicator of when the relationship is ending.

We ended up booking a 10:30 am slot. Hopefully it won’t be too busy by then. The early slots were gone and I’m not sure if we would even make the 9 am time honestly. I have a feeling we’ll be going to bed super late after we land the night before

You can make the air tag beep from the app. I've only used the app to find them in my room 😂 mostly because I have a bad habit of leaving one in a suitcase and I don't always take the same one.

Otherwise I've used them to track bags in Japan when shipping or similar.

I have had to replace batteries in them, but it's easy to do and the app will let you know.

I have an AirTag on my car keys. Right now when I look it shows me an outline of my house and a little key icon in the general area of where it is in the house. Then I can play a sound on the AirTag to find it.

We also use them to track luggage if we’re checking bags

This is my understanding, I'm not an Apple user. I have Samsung SmarTags that from my research act very similarly. The Airtags don't use GPS themselves, they connect to other people's passing devices and use the GPS in those devices to determine where they are. Then once you get close you have it make noise so you can find it. I use them in all of my bags when I travel. As soon as I turn airplane off on my phone, it's always shown me my bags in the same city, and let me know when my bags were coming out at MCO.

Thanks--I think I see how it works if the phone and the AirTag are in the same location. I did I quick test of what would happen if the phone and AirTag are in different locations, by leaving the AirTag in the car while I went into the grocery store. The "Find My" app didn't display a current location for the AirTag but did tell me its last location (which actually was its present location in the car, but the app didn't know that).

Not quite as helpful as I had first imagined, but knowing the last location could still be of some use.

It's only as helpful as how many iphones are around.

My android only alerts me when I'm traveling with one, which is safety feature vs helping find an airtag. It's never alerted me when I'm home and the tags are here but my iPhone is only used when I travel with the airtags.

We recently returned from a three-week trip to Hawaii, including a weeklong stay at the Grand Wailea in Maui—a first for us. This is an amazing property and a great use of Hilton credits and FNs. We were upgraded to an Ocean View room. The resort charges for everything, but I had a stack of Hilton GCs and prepaid my hotel bill so I had $6,000 to spend at the resort, which was unfortunately done easily. I was planning on buying myself multiple pairs of Maui Jims with the leftover money, but I didn’t have anything left lol You can charge anything to the room even things at the shops.

The spa here is my favorite spa ever. I even used some Hilton credits for a $125 Kiolani Spa Wheat branded T-shirt. DH was not happy lol The spa check in staff remembered me by name when I returned. The space was recently renovated and the hydrotherapy gardens were amazing.

We also spent Hilton credits on beach chair rentals, the luau, (which we did for the kids in my traveling party, but the food was really good, it’s all you care to enjoy and brought to your table) beach toy rentals (the snorkeling at this hotel was amazing), and a bunch of meals. We tried all the restaurants expect Olivine.

Nobu recently opened which I have been wanting to try for years. This didn’t count for the daily food and beverage credit, but I was able to charge to the room and use Hilton credits for this, which was a fantastic deal and amazing meal.

We did the hotel breakfast buffet one day and it was a waste for me. I think it was like $68pp and I really only had some malasadas and fruits. Everything was good tho and it had a really pretty view, just not worth the price tag for me. (Could have gotten Maui Jims instead of a meal here for 6 😝)

Humuhumunukunukuapua’a for dinner was ok. Nobu was around the same price and I would rather do that. They charge $30pp for an ocean view for dinner, which is crazy to me, but nice I guess if you want to guarantee a view. If you make a reservation for Nobu instead of walking up they will seat you outside with an ocean view. (Much better deal imo)

We used the food and beverage credit everyday at the QS Loulu. Which has a partnership with the grocery store Erewhon, which DH thought was hysterical. I was going to use my $50 credit one day for an Erewhon tote bag, but they were $150, so we passed. I got lots of Hibiscus iced teas and bottles of hot sauce to take home which was nice.

My only complaints… the hotel grounds feel very 90s. The place needs another renovation.

With two rooms for three nights and our own seven-night stay, the total valet charges came to nearly $1,000—wild.

The beach and pool chair situation is miserable. DH and I like to sleep in. Finding a place in the shade is hard. I ended up getting up at 6:30 to get chairs one day and did some work by the pool before he woke up. And then another day we paid $450 for 6 chairs. Hilton credits go really fast here. Thought about a cabana, but passed when it was $1750 and not all the chairs were in the shade!

The pool slides close at 5. Super early. We would normally go to the beach at around 5 so it made getting a chair in the shade easy then, but I never ended up spending time in the main pools.

Overall it was a really nice stay and we will hopefully be back. Hopefully with more Hilton credits to use and maybe I can get some “free” Maui Jim’s lol 😂

We did the Tower in 2022 right when it opened. I highly recommend doing it early too.

But 9 AM = 4 AM ET, so that does sound a little ambitious. But will put you on the correct schedule.

We ended up booking a 10:30 am slot. I don’t think we would make the 9 am. I’d rather be there right when they open but I also think we’ll need the sleep because we have the Ceremony of the Keys that night.

Flying out of Tokyo tomorrow. Booked an Uber premium van so hopefully no problems with the luggage (we simply could not get things together & shipped off 2 days early to the airport).

Visited Nihon Minkaen Open Air Museum which was very nice. Can’t believe they basically tore all those buildings down & then rebuilt them there. Also was given some cute straw figures that the volunteers there make. Some knew English and talked with us. Definitely worth a day trip and wasn’t busy there at all. Then a day trip to Yokohama yesterday (saw some of the inspirations for the Like a Dragon games). They also had lots of food trucks set up for Tanabata.

Was going to try and see the parade for Tanbata parade in Asakusa today, but it was just too hot and I think we’d have passed out from the heat & crowds. Instead we went to walk around the imperial palace but got totally blocked off. Wasn’t just us, the runners were chased off as well since the emperor was going out. Then we did some last minute shopping and had wagyu yakiniku for lunch.

DW got approved for a CIC! Her and I both have received the fraud letter the last two applications. We have called on the fraud letter and they asked us to send in a picture of her drivers license and still wasn’t approved.

She received another letter this time but it wasn’t the fraud letter. Instead, it just asked her to call in. They reviewed her account on the phone and instantly approved! Finally….this is our first card in 2025.

USbank fans..... these are biz cc's you all like? Any big things I need to know about app'ing here for biz vs. app'ing for inks?

Ink velocity? anyone reading anything new? I'm looking and not finding much....I know it's all changing soon- last few apps are 6/24 CiC,9/24 CiU,1/25 Cic. I'm in process of transferring some CL from 6/24CiC to 1/25 CiC,then gonna close it. Also got CSP 5/24..... only two months (!!!! time flies when I'm hitting a spend lol) and since I need another MSR soon, too soon for another ink?

tell hubby I said you deserve the tshirt, lol! (I know how hard you've worked to get all those points and gift cards!)

Nothing like waking up realizing you forgot to pay 3 credit cards. UGH. I don't have autopay on because I used to have to decide which bank account was paying the bill. Now I really just need to turn it on! Luckily one was my discover which had a positive balance thanks to referring someone. But ouch, $80 never is fun!

In that, My CIU #3 has hit the year mark. I only have the CIP, CIC and CIU right now. I closed all the others I have had in the past. I will close the CIP when the AF hits in Sept. When I downgraded my CSR, I chose a CFU which I've never had before. Now I'm thinking that I might as well close the CIU and perhaps try and get another ink when I'm not working on spends or there is a good offer. So my thoughts are I already have at least 1 UR card earning 1.5x. Might as well....right?

Hilton Biz - I see my AF posted on 6/19. Could I quickly use the $60 for this quarter, and still have time to cancel? Is it 30 days w/ Amex?

All you people jumping on the Delta NLL offer have me over here debating. I did just pay to renew in Feb though. So I wouldn't get much "extra" mileage out of having no AF. I never use my miles but I guess they are my ultimate backup now for non-rev, LOL. And I figure the AF is offset by the stay credit. If the offer is around long enough, I could possibly cancel my Hilton Biz though and have the slot open to apply for it, LOL.

I do keep forgetting that I have the ability to pay hockey in the fall w/ a credit card, and I'll have fall taxes coming up, my DD's college tuition too. So I guess I have a few big spends coming....hmmmmm.

Oh one more thing, we want to start stalking the WA in Cabo again for possible FNC usage. Last year this group tipped me off when the rooms were open. Is there a website or something that people use to know when standard rooms are available? Or are people legit stalking daily? LOL

Call and ask if they will waive the late fee. This happens to me every couple of years and I have yet to have a CC not agree to refund the fee.

We just came home from Maui on Wednesday. We were right next door to you in a condo at Wailea Beach Villas. We’ve stayed at The Grand Wailea, and your experience is spot on in my opinion. We used the restroom at GW a couple of times while down on the beach. The pool did look extremely busy. The chair situation is disappointing. Even Wailea beach was people soup sometimes. My husband always gets sticker shock from the price of everything at GW. That valet parking cost is insane. Sounds like you had a fantastic trip. I absolutely love Maui, and we had another amazing family vacation. Even though it is expensive, I love the location, and walkability of the Wailea resorts area. I also find Wailea Beach to be perfect for all activities from snorkeling to boogie boarding depending on the time of day. Thanks for sharing your experience.
