Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

For someone (us) who aren’t totally familiar with the Wilderness Lodge, how are things looking right now? We’ll be there in about a week and a half - hopefully the lobby still looks great and we get nice water view rooms!

Can I get into Whispering Canyon Cafe with a wheelchair ?
I seem to remember it having 2 steps from 20 years ago

Scroll back a few posts and you’ll see some current pics.
I saw - was hoping there’d be more progress. I probably won’t even care when I’m there but I’m a little disappointed - I’m usually more aware of refurbishments and such but I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention when booking - and really don’t know much about this resort compared to the other ones - but at least there’s good MK proximity.

Well, I’m glad I came here because I was unaware of any construction going on! Is this on the main building or the DVC area? We’re booked for late December in the main building and I’m not at all familiar with this resort. I’m understanding from the last few pages of this that there is no clear end timeline but people think it should be done in the next couple months? Is that right?

The question I came to ask though is whether there are any standard view rooms that might have a partial fireworks view that I could request? I of course know it’s not guaranteed but figured it couldn’t hurt to ask if some are available. We got lucky at the Poly a couple years ago by asking for a particular room block.

The interior work is in the CCV (South) side of the Main lodge building. The exterior maintenance work is right now focused in the Courtyard (think if a big U shaped space between the North (resort rooms), and the South (DVC rooms). This is where the scaffolding is located in a couple of sections at the bottom of the "U" right along the Main section of the building, and a section along the North wing (resort rooms).

The interior work in the South (DVC) wing of the building is supposed to be done by the end of this month. The exterior maintenance work has no specific end date. They appear to be done with all the roof work, and the exterior wall work, and are only working on the Courtyard area. It can still change at any time if they identify any additional issues (disclaimer).

The question I came to ask though is whether there are any standard view rooms that might have a partial fireworks view that I could request?
Yes but did you really have a Standard View room booked since the older views have mostly been merged into a Resort view. Rooms on the exterior side of the North wing on floors 4-6 do have a partial Fireworks view without being classified as a Fireworks view room. Just don't look down or you will see the service area, and the smokehouse. Room number range: x042 - x066 where x is 4-6.

Aha you’re right! I have a resort view booked. So, are those room number blocks resort views that would be an option for me with the category I have booked?

Got it! Thank you! Again, not super familiar with this resort so would these courtyard rooms mostly be resort view rooms? If I request the room block you reference above, would I be asking for one of these rooms blocked by scaffolding? I guess if they’re actively working on that area now though, maybe they will be done by late December ….

I think that the rate of $149 per day for club access is is a great value if you are someone who enjoys the benefits of the lounge. We frequently add it to our WL stay. But we also eat both breakfast and dinner in the lounge on those trips. I like to get my money's worth. :) I hate the dormer balconies on the 7th floor, so this is a good way to get the room I want.

But when we travel with family we like to dine at restaurants. We would not add cl access to those trips.

how are the water view rooms here? I’m hoping we get a nice view!
Some of the water view rooms actually have the same view as the image @mrsap posted just above your question. Hiding behind all that scaffolding mess is the man-made creek that starts in the lobby and runs down to the pool with an illusion that it drains into the pool.

Others further done near the end of the wing overlook the courtyard pool and larger parts of Bay lake.

Ohh, that’s an awful view right now, I wonder if I should call and make some sort of request?

Fogged Forest Window Decals & More Roof Work at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort

An updated Fort Wilderness Lodge resort hotel sits behind a gated outdoor pool with trees, umbrellas, and nearby walkers.

It was announced in November of 2024, that the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge would undergo refurbishment from mid-May 2025 to September 2025.

A building with green roofs and scaffolding on one side, surrounded by trees and partially sheltered by green awnings.
Although scaffolding and crew members are still present near the entrance to this section of the resort, work appears to be wrapping up.

On our recent visit, the crew looked to be focused mainly on the roof. You can see the wood is covered with plastic and painter’s tape to protect the surface.

In our last update, this sidewalk area had reopened for guest use, with green barriers and some equipment placed up against the building. With a small amount of scaffolding remaining, it looks like crew members have temporarily blocked the path again for guest safety.

Inside, the scrim on the windows has been replaced with fogged decals featuring forest trees, leaning into the wilderness theming of the resort. The exterior area is still closed off from guest access.

The new window clings expand across all of the windows, and this section of doors remains closed as well.

The terrace remains closed, with the majority of scaffolding and work left to complete. Several A-frame signs placed in front of the doors read, “Please Pardon Our Pixie Dust – This Area is Being Refurbished for Your Future Enjoyment.”
