I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

No clue, haven't even managed to get myself out of PUJ for the last couple years. In my defense no one has really cracked the code of why/how to get out of PUJ. I would just move on.
I've moved very slowly with Amex. And I realized that I didn't close the card I thought I did. It's been almost a year since I got my last Amex card, and I applied through a pre-approved offer they sent me. So while I really am not interested in moving on, it's not like I will be applying again anytime soon. What's weird is that this is the first time either of us got a pop-up notification and it happened on the same day...

I've been to both. They are really different from one another. We were able to walk to the Field Museum which was nice. It is similar to the Natural History Museum in NYC so if you want something different I'd go to the S&I Museum. We visited that one about 10 years ago, so my memories about it aren't as clear, but I remember enjoying it a lot. We were staying with friends in Hyde Park, so it was nearby which made it nice. Honestly I think they are both great and I'd go with whichever sounds more fun for this trip.

Have you been to the Planetarium? I'm going back to Chicago and I'm wondering if it's wroth a visit there.
I was in Chicago for a convention, and I had one day free. I wanted to go to the Aquarium and/or Field Museum, but I happened to be in Chicago during Lallapalooza. I was not attending Lallapalooza, and I didn't want to be near there. I went to the Museum of Science & Industry because it was in the opposite direction when travelling from my hotel.

I enjoyed the Museum of Science & Industry. Note that there were a bunch of things which have a cost which is in addition to museum admission. At the time, that included a Pompeii exhibit, movies, motion simulator, flight simulator, coal mine, UR transporter and U-505 sub tour. So if you are pricing it out, watch out for that. I liked the Lunch restaurant there. Also Stan's Donut Shop had a glutenless donut, which I appreciated.

Was there a Stan's Donut in the museum??? Or the one that's close by in Hyde Park? If it's in the museum, that's a game changer, lol. Thanks for the info about the lunch... as we'll likely be there for the better part of a day and need something to eat, so I was wondering about that.

Quick question for this chase 5x insurance bonus up to 1500: it's not in addition too the grocery category, correct? if not,t I'm not going to bother. but to me, on the chase dashboard, it looks like it's just a bonus category, not an additional 1500 I can pay ahead for a bill,l correct?
I found an additional promo on my DH's SW card for 2 x points on insurance (of any kind) in addition to a spend $1k get 3k points.

Reports of Chase business being reported to credit reports, not just new cards.
For anyone dealing with this issue (my Southwest Biz got reported), you want to call their Credit Bureau Specialist Unit. The direct dial number (which front line CSRs don't have) is 1-888-682-8361. They are open M-F 7 am to 9 pm CST. You provide them with the full credit card number and your identifying details so they can pull a credit report, see the mistakenly reported business card, and then they initiate a case to have it removed.

I was told it would take up to 30 days to get removed from my credit, but they are aware of the issue internally and are working to resolve it so new business cards are not reported (my United Biz has not been reported yet).

We are taking a trip in April and player 2 and I have a couple of Cap1 venture SUBs I'm going to use to purchase tickets through Undercovertrourist. I know this is not the best use of the points (in terms of redemption value), but at this point basically the only reason we even get venture rewards is to offset the cost of the annual Disney trip tickets.

It's been a few years that we've used the points in this way, so I'm just wanting to make sure I'm still in the loop. Are there any other decent ways to use points/miles for Disney tickets? Our chase points are used almost exclusively for Hyatt hotels and our Amex points are used mostly for flights. Just wondering how/if others use the hobby to offset park tickets.

Thank you! Did you apply as a SP with your social?

So glad it hear that it is a glitch and not a new policy.

I wonder if employee cards are reporting as well…one of my DHs cards closed yesterday so I’ll find out soon unfortunately.

Whichever one Chase pulls when you apply. Since we're in the same state, my guess is they pull Experian for you. Maybe also Equifax, they used to pull both EX and EQ for me (not for DH).

DH's last Ink is showing up at TransUnion. His Ink is also showing up on Experian. Ugh. And lots of Inks for us both are showing up there. I guess this is the problem with Amex?

Thanks for guiding me to look there.

ETA - Transunion is noting that the cards are showing up there (seems to be ongoing) now even though they are from more than 2 years ago. What a mess.

Can someone remind me if it's not good to pay off balance before statement cycles on a new card or is it just bad to pay off balance in order to reuse credit before the statement cycles?

I don't think the accounts reporting caused the pop-up. The theory that I've seen that makes the most sense to me is that there's some sort of customer profitability score. Each SUB has a score based on how much it costs Amex and maybe how much they want to promote it. Your score would need to be higher than the SUB score to not get the pop-up.

For the Chase biz cards reporting, seems it's accounts with closing dates from 2/25-2/27. Reports are reps are saying it's been fixed and there won't be more reported. Some are saying you need to call to get it fixed, but there is one DP on DoC that says it'll be fixed automatically. With how many there are affected, that makes more sense to me. A couple years ago, this happened with Barclays on a smaller scale and those were fixed automatically for the most part. If it was me, I'd probably wait a week to see how it plays out.

Thank you for this information. I did call, and was told that this is a known issue that they are working on and that it should be resolved in 30 days or so. The rep didn't even want my card information because it's something they are already trying to fix.

Hopefully this will eventually remove the pop-ups, because we've gone slow with AMEX, put quite a bit of organic spend on the cards, and value MRs.

I really don't know. I may not be profitable for AMEX but I think that DH actually is. He puts a lot of spend on his AMEX cards.

Alas not much has changed there, UT is still pretty much the best deal on tickets. (If you aren't going the buy foreign tickets route discussed here.)

Need some advice - have been watching DH's Hawaiian miles account for the 70,000 bonus pts he earned from Barclay card on 1/1/25. Finally looked at the back of the credit card and it has a different (new) Hawaiian number on it! Best way to handle - set up a new login with the new number, or try to get them merged somehow? I feel like it would be weird for him to have 2 separate hawaiian miles accounts, although he hasn't used his older one in 6-7 years.
