I would go with an Ink since you can do business cards. They have a 90K offer with a relatively low spend but the ink preferred has 120k that is ending on 9/5 with a higher spend.

Just remember you or your P2 need to keep a CSP, CSR or Ink Preferred in order to get 1.25-1.5% when booking through the portal or to be able to transfer to partners.

Do you shop at Costco? If so when you downgrade your CSP ask to downgrade to the original Freedom as that is a Visa that can be used there and warehouse clubs seem to be a 5% category every year.
Thank you. I was thinking INK. Just not sure I want another card, or a business card. I will think about all this and probably apply. I want the URs! LOL

Yes - I plan to keep P2s CSP when I downgrade mine.

Yes, I do shop at Costco. I will keep this in mind when the time comes for me to downgrade the CSP.

I have been playing this CC game since 2016ish. I have never really been a churner - just earning and burning at a pretty slow rate. But we have been traveling more lately and I am burning more than I am earning (CC points, not cash; we can afford all the travel even without the points). I am 0/24 (maybe 1/24??); P2 is 1/24.

My Cards:
Amex Everyday - my oldest card - since 1989
CSP - will downgrade at AF time - March 2025, I think; and then get again when there is an elevated SUB
CFF
Discover IT
Disney Visa - rarely used but keeping

P2:
CSP - just got it a few months ago
CFU - his most used card
United Gateway - rarely used but keeping

I am thinking of getting another card. I would like to stay within the UR and MR currencies and not have an AF. I am not loyal to any hotel brand or airline. I would also consider another cash back card, if the SUB was decent. I am a legit sole prop so I can do business cards, but it still makes me nervous. I am not sure I want another card, but what card would you get next in this scenario?
I would apply for a CIC if you can take advantage of the 5x categories or the CIU since it’s 1.5 on everything and if you can apply in branch it’s a 90k UR bonus…both no fee cards

Any reason to keep the CSR anymore? I've had it since it first came out, 2016 I think. And I feel so many other cards have stepped in to provide better options and Chase has only nerfed the CSR.
  • 3 pts Dining and Travel - Currently book Flights on AMEX Plat (5x), and other travel on USBAR (3% on travel or Apple Pay), Dinning on USBAR if Apple Pay is available or on CITI Strata Premier for 3% on dining in no Apple Pay available
  • $300 travel credit - brings it down to $250, but what am I paying $250 for
  • Priority Pass - no longer usable at restaurants. AMEX Plat provides the same pass (and centurion lounge) and USBAR gives me 8 restaurant visits
  • Transfer Partners - only transfer to Hyatt and United (yes I know its not the best redemption to United but its worth it to us to book on United points as the cancellation policy is much more flexible)
  • 1.5x on Chase portal - used it once, prefer the flexibility of booking with points when we can
  • Global Entry/Precheck - get it on three other cards
  • DoorDash - Don't use it, prices and fees are too high
  • Lyft Pink - significantly less use out of it recently, isn't it ending soon?
I just don't see the value for me anymore. My plan is to either transfer the remaining UR points i have to my wife who has a CSP, or to one of the partners we plan on using soon (Hyatt/United) and downgrading to a Freedom Flex. Then in a few months have my wife refer me for the CSP if any good SUBS and have her close her CSP. Am I missing anything?
We’re currently debating the same. I think we might downgrade ours. We’ve used our points to fly allegiant but we have to call and the last few times we’ve had a lot of issues and ended up booking cash instead.

Thanks. So the CIC is 5% on internet, cable, phone, and office supply - right? I can pay my internet/cable (bundled); I don't use office supply stores often. I know about the no fee cards people get and use for other things, but I don't want to do that. For cell phone I use my CFF to get the cell phone protection. So not sure if this would be worth it.

CIU - too nervous to apply in branch - LOL

I didn't even realize Allegiant was an option in the portal. I would probably just pay cash (With CSR or CSP for insurance def needed with Allegiant :) ) for that and keep my points.

Branch offers generally get put on the web. I'm hoping it is soon so that I can refer my P2 before the referral bonus goes down.

I still use the CIC for cell phones and for go the protection for the extra points. I was able to meet the minimum spends easily by getting the no fee V/MC which I then could use else where I would not be getting 5% from another card like when getting our cars serviced as our dealers will run multiple cards with no issues.

I then just sock drawer the card leaving my Internet and Mobile as monthly charges and pull it out if I need more V/MC cards.

A lot of the chase phone reps don’t realize it either 😅 We usually use URs on other things but lately haven’t had any trips planned and have been mostly cashing points out instead

I've seen some reports that people have been denied using Global Entry if the number isn't attached to their reservation. My recommendation would be to just go ahead and put it in, and update all of the FF profiles to have the GE number.
Yes. This happened to us on our way out of country, and our way back in. airline didn't attach the GE as they should have- no getting in that line. (lucky for me the regular line happened to be short those days) triple check to make sure it's attached to ticket before you go. eta

DH also has two accounts that don't seem to merge in the backend like the other accounts. He can't transfer points between the two accounts, and like you say, it's like they don't see them as the same person, but it's the same SSN. I still look at his accounts holistically and I would try to cancel 1-2 of those open biz accts if they've been open for more than a year
Neither of the two in his new random account are a year old, one will be in a few weeks, but not yet.

I also feel we could finally meet an AMEX plat spend (not that this is a good thing) but I don't know that I can take the annual fee.

Just back from Fiji...... wow. exhausted but wow. Learned a few things about international travel on this adventure....
1- Priority pass pretty much is useless unless you get real lucky with timing.
2- I love GE, but next time triple check that the stupid airline actually attaches the # to boarding pass (mine didn't) but it saved us just once in a line with approx. 1000 people waiting (what a mess) and we sailed right by,used those face id machines. That alone made it amazing.
3- My brain has to work overtime to hear and process other languages, and it's tiring.
4- TSA agents are all over the place- and annoying everywhere, but the Fijian security folks, like most of the Fijians in general were much friendlier and more chill than any other location. the ineptness at SFO made us late to board our flight, and they took away a sealed duty free purchase from us (I assume b/c they wanted it for themselves)
5- Boy do I love traveling, and I also hate it all at the same time (lol)
So tired.... happy to be home but thrilled to have done it! (and the vitamins were fine lol)
Welcome back home! I'm so glad that GE worked for you when it mattered most. It's saved us hours in line. How awful about TSA - we fly through SFO most of the time and I haven't had that issue (but never have had a duty free purchase).

The CIU is 75k URs…use P2s support link for another 40k

Thank you @palhockeymomof2 and @eticketplease. I am still not certain I will apply for anything, but if I do apply for a Chase business card:

1. Will that card be in the same online acct as my personal chase cards?
2. Will I be able to transfer the URs to my CSP or other personal Chase cards?

Removing the Instacart benefit really makes it less appealing to me as well, since we used that regularly. Unless they start cranking out more Sapphire lounges, I don't see the benefit in the PP either since we also have the amex plat. We have made use 1.5x points more this past year than before, but even that is iffy. I really thought they'd add something in place of Instacart but so far nada.

1. From my expeirence, No they will not show. You will need to create a Business account and that will show both your business and personal accounts on the website. On the App you can not see them all at a glance as there is a "personal" and "business" tab to switch between the accounts.
2. Yes you will be able to transfer to your cards the same way to combine points as long as you are logged in with.the business account. (I don't even use the personal login anymore)

When you refer using a CIU, about how long has it taken for the bonus to show up in the account? It has been about a month, I have yet to receive any communications that I referred someone or pending points

Showing my ignorance where do you see GE on your airline/boarding pass? I traveled to Canada last year and just used the GE lines and no one stopped me but don’t know if it was on my pass. I guess it was.
