Since Jet Blue is going to start flying 1 flight a day from our local airport ISP to MCO…I am considering cheating on SW and applying for the Jet Blue Barclays Plus card while the offer is 80,000 points with a $1,000 spend.
I have never had a Barclays cc, any thoughts on this card or Barclays would be appreciated :flower:

I have it since we’re based out of EWR we mainly fly JetBlue to MCO as it’s 1 of our 2 nonstop options. It’s sock drawered but I keep it because it gets us free checked bags. Well worth it for me. You don’t have to pay with the card to get the free bags, it’s just automatic if you have the card.

See,I just don;t get this, I added all my relevant cc's to my acct, and it still just shows my CSR,with the end date..... what am I missing?
Maybe they stopped allowing the credits to stack. I did mine over a year ago when the benefits were still newish. Each credit had to be activated from the Chase account for each card.

I have a question about UK261 compensation. We recently had a flight canceled (which made us spend an extra 24 hrs in the UK). Are we only compensated for roughly $500 per person, or will they add hotel and meals to that?

And if I accept it, does that mean that I can't get the CSR $600 per person coverage? We also had travel insurance.

Asking for help here because I've never done this before and I want to get it right. VA is offering £1040 right now for the cancelation.
It sounds like you were departing the EU or UK for a return trip back to the US. If that is the case, you should be entitled to hotel and meal compensation, but you will need to have receipts for both for VA. When Lufthansa cancelled my flight (FRA --> EDI) in March I was offered 750 Euros which included standard compensation + payment towards my extra night in Edinburgh (I didn't send any meal receipts). You don't mention if the offer of 1040GBP is for 1 or 2 or more people. And while Lufthansa offered me 750Euros it took 4 months and a case filed with the ombudsman in Germany to get the money. It very was frustrating, but worth it.

In all cases, if your flight arrival is delayed by three hours or more, you’re entitled to the following payments, known as the “right to compensation:

CompensationFlight Distance
250 euros1500km or less
400 eurosmore than 1500km within the Community
400 eurosbetween 1500km and 3500km
600 eurosall other flights

I too frequently travel on southwest out of ISP. I've accumulated quite a few Jet Blue points via the Jet Blue personal and biz cards from Barclays. Barclays has a soft 6/24 rule. After originally applying for the JetBlue Plus Card to obtain the large sign up bonus, I converted after 1 year to the card with no annual fee, with the intention of later converting back to the Plus card once I'm ready to redeem my points (so I can use the free checked bags benefit and 10% back on award redemptions).

Thank you so much for answering my question! I really appreciate it.

There were 2 of this on the trip and I don't want to accept an offer when it's not what we are entitled to. We thought we could also get the hotel and the one meal we ate covered, but weren't sure if we were reading it incorrectly. The flight was from LHR to SFO and they were remarkably unhelpful in finding us a flight to get home.

ETA - we have to claim under UK 261 because of Brexit.

Wanted to add that I don't know how Chase would know (unless it asks on their claim form) if you received any other compensation, but I'd definitely check. I'd think UK261 would apply regardless of any travel insurance but I am by no means an expert (you will find better answers on FT).

From my (limited) experience I believe that travel insurance does ask if you are being compensated by another company (in this case Chase and / or UK261) and if you answer falsely it is fraud.

Yes, we won't lie on the forms of course. I think Chase does ask but I'll have to double check.

I was able to book the vacation package at Tokyo Disney that I wanted for my trip to Japan in January with ds. I got the 3 day / 2 night package with unlimited rides on the headliners and also allows you to book restaurants & time slots your meals. I booked 2 packages because I couldn't decide which hotel: MiraCosta (Porto Paradiso with harbor view) or the new Fantasy Springs Hotel (rose court side was the best I could get -- neither springs side nor the Grand Chateau were available). No issues with my credit card going through (CSR was already saved in my account). It took less than a half hour to book both hotels / packages.

I set my alarm for 1:20am to be sure to be ready for the 2am release (3pm JST) and didn't have any wait (I had 3 browsers open and no issue on any of them, though I was kicked out of the queue on my iPad and when I got back in the wait was over an hour).

I have to decide which hotel I want. If I was certain that the harbor show was running I'd go with the MiraCosta, but I read yesterday that it will be down during our stay. Plus I have read that DisneySea starts blasting music at 7am and I am a light sleeper, so not sure that appeals to me (I'd probably be up anyways, but I'd like it to be by choice lol). Which makes the Fantasy Springs Hotel a bit more appealing. Any thoughts?
Congrats! This is good to hear because I may be trying to do this for next May. I have to wait a while and I need to do a ton of research. If you have any advice or info you'd like to share please send it my way! :goodvibes

Did you add them all before they shutdown on 7/31?
Did you add them through the dedicated web link?
When is your end date? When I added each one through the link, it just pushed the end date out by the appropriate number of months. If it couldn't id the card, I didn't get an updated date and it wasn't added to my wallet.

Well, I just went on an application spree.

Yesterday DH was approved for the CIP.
Today I was approved for the IHG with the 5 night Bonus and the AmEx BBP with the 50K bonus.

Already completed the spend for the BBP paying for DD's room and board for the semester. That leaves $12,000 MSR between the other two cards, tuition, insurance renewal, and 2 Disney APs should knock out about $9000 and I'm sure just typical spending will eat up the other $3000 in the next few months. Now I will lay low on applications until close to the end of the year where I'll work on a Southwest companion pass for next year.

I'm thinking of closing my AmEx Personal Gold. It has been a good card for me but I don't think I need it anymore. The benefits are all centered around food and I have celiac so eating out just isn't super fun. Also no uber where I live so those credits are hard to use too. I have the Business Platinum and prefer the benefits with that one.

Anyone familiar with dining in the Broadway district in NYC? Staying at the Hyatt Centric, which is a block or so from our theater. Looking for a dinner before the show. We are pretty casual, pub/grill type people.

Man, I guess I should look forward to paying for our kids' college bills!

I'm thinking of having my DH downgrade his CSR to a CSP. We don't currently have any travel planned using the CSR and probably won't for awhile. We've used the full amount of the travel credit for this year. His AF was charged on 12/1 last year. Would it make sense to downgrade now? I think we would get a prorated AF amount back, correct? If so I think it would be approx. $145. Would it be better to wait until the travel credit resets, use it, then cancel before paying the AF? Is that how it works? I see others post about playing the upgrade/downgrade game with the CSR but I usually get a little lost trying to understand it. Thanks for any advice!

REstaurant row is nearby.lots of options, prixe fix as well. Celtic pub is very good aaaa well

Also, we just got Hamilton matinee tickets for the Sunday we check in. Should I call the Hyatt Centric Times Square to see if we can drop off our bags before the show? Or should we just pack really light and each just carry a back pack that we take in with us? Will the theatre let us bring in a packed back pack each?

TIA
Not sure if you've all ready gone on your trip to see Hamilton. But we did this exactly at the Hyatt Centric. We arrived and left our bags with the front desk. They put tags on them and stored in a room behind the front desk area. And we walked over to Hamilton. Everything worked out great! Hope you have/had fun!

Yes, this is one perk for sure! DS's school wouldn't allow tuition payments via credit card but for two years we could pay his room and board in the fraternity. DD's school allows tuition paid via credit card with a fee and her sorority room and board can be paid with no fee. Her tuition last year hit quite a few MSR's for us. We'll be spending 4 nights at the Waldorf Astoria in Cabo with the Hilton bonus from her fall tuition and I think the spring tuition knocked out a big business platinum MSR.

US Bank Altitude Reserve Trip Delay Insurance experience (this is an outlier premium cc so figured I’d share, I’ve had this card for a long time but first insurance claim)

Bought my ticket using UA TravelBank and charged a small portion to my cc. Missed my connection in DEN due to being delayed on the ground at MCO due to weather. Next flight wasn’t until next day, no help from UA as the delay was due to weather. Knew I should be covered up to $500 and had multiple flight options home with no weather issues the next day so I went with a nicer hotel & hit that $500 mark. Submitted my claim when I got back online, had issues uploading my docs though. Their first response was to email all the docs I’d previously uploaded lol. After that I was approved for $500 with an option to send it to my bank. Showed the next day. The process was just under a month which I thought wasn’t bad.
