Ohh, I hope you are able to pull it!

When I closed my Aspire, I stayed Diamond for about a month. I used my Plat to get Hilton Gold. I can’t think of another way, unless there’s some sort of status match promo going on.
yeah, I just got the Gold 175K $10K email offer, I'm really hoping the Plat 250K $15K hits my inbox soon. I have a Hilton stay coming up in November so really hoping to take advantage of the $30 credit.

Oh man, I got behind on this thread and didn't realize this had expired. I just did my August Aldi pickup to get the $15 on our CSR.

I was all exited that the card got a 10% instacart offer, so I was going to double dip. Ah, well, at least I get the 10% and burnt off my last couple of bucks of instacart credit from my last pickup order. Time to shut down Instacart+ before I actually pay money for it.
I just did the same thing. Didn't realize it changed... Dang it!

I still have an Instacart + membership for another year. I input all my cards, the free membership stacked and expires 8/2025. Right now DD has an Aldi promo for 50% off 3 times but after that I think I’ll stick with instacart because they offer pickup. $10 off DD about covers the tip for delivery so no real benefit IMO.

Yeah, we don't have that many cards that qualify and we've already burnt through our Instscart + credits. It was set to renew 8/16, so the timing is just about perfect for me to let it go now that the credit is gone.

I saw that Hyatt has a 20% off points purchase. I have never done this before. Is this something that would be good to look into?

Ack, bummer about losing the Instacart credits with Chase. I hadn't read about that!

Just had DH apply for the Ink Preferred. No instant approval. Just called and got the 7-10 day message.

I'm going to have him call recon later. Fingers crossed. We could use those points!!

Just booked on Iberia last night for spring break in Portugal. The Amex transfer bonus was a nice perk.
When I have gotten "In Review" the past few times, it's been approved within a few hours. Keep your eyes checking on emails, or it could just show up in his account. I'd hold a bit on recon unless he likes that sort of thing :)

In the closet I've ever cut it for MSR, I'm counting days right now for Barclays and not confident in their MSR period. What has been people's experience for how they count? Like AmEx is 92 or 183 for 3/6 mo offers, Chase is 115 days, etc. Is it 90 on the dot from approval? I don't know exactly when it was approved but I think my worse case scenario was 4/30. If so, I missed it. If there's wiggle I may have still missed it as the last transaction was 7/31 but they listed the trans date as 8/1. :rolleyes2
Points went pending! I was approved somewhere between 4/26 and 5/1. I'm guessing it may have been 4/30 as I found the email that created my new Wyndham account. Transaction that made MSR was dated 8/1.

Due to my Marriott experience, I didn't pay any attention to Gold status provided by my Surpass. I stayed Hilton and Hyatt this past week and was pleasantly surprised to get the $30 credit at Hilton. I also had success with the Hilton gift cards. I manually checked out at the desk and offered up the card at the last minute as our visit had been kind of hectic maximizing the fun stuff.

First guy ran the card and instantly said it was declined. I said, no, it has $50 on it and turned the card and started to dial and confirm in front of him. Another desk clerk told him he was doing it wrong so I cancelled my call. She quickly showed him how to do it. The food credit here had been changed from a breakfast credit to $30 on whatever you ordered. This was easy with no limitations.

Meanwhile at Hyatt, I had booked a 2nd room to accommodate 6 of us even though the rooms do sleep 6. I prefer a bit of privacy and having 2 baths for that many people. (Although having 6 at Hilton, only 2 of us slept overnight, and I let them know in advance there.)

Hyatt put snacks in both rooms with a handwritten welcome letter and gave me an oceanfront upgrade on connecting rooms. This was very much appreciated and unexpected. I had sent a note to request connecting if possible but would be happy with even the same floor.

So nice to have hotels without the resort fees and extra parking fees. Rates at Hilton were in the $900 range for the basic room and at Hyatt the rooms I booked were in the $700's before tax, but the ocean front were higher, so I figure that was enough to cover parking!

If you don’t mind telling, what hotels did you stay and would you stay again? We are always looking for good hotels on the beach where I can use my points. So many of them are not very good, especially for the price.

I just booked an 8 day trip to Portugal using Avios. DH was just approved for the CIP which will help our UR stash that we primarily use for Hyatt and Southwest transfers. I need a MSR, we have about 15,000 of spend in the next month with tuition and rent for DD and our insurance renewal. $8000 will go on DH's new CIP to hit that MSR but that leaves $7000 so I need a new card. I'm thinking about trying for the IHG card with the 5 free nights. I'm 0/5 right now as I've been mostly doing business cards. We could easily use the 5 free nights in Portugal. Am I missing a better option?

@DogCat - Ocean City, Maryland Hilton Suites Oceanfront at 3200 North Baltimore Ave and Hyatt Place, one 16th Street, Baltimore Ave.

I've got many stays at the Hyatt Place, which is a fairly typical Hyatt Place, with the addition of balconies and 2 swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor both on the lobby floor with a one foot entry on the outdoor one, ideal for toddlers. The remaining area is 4 ft depth as is the indoor one. The side rooms here are classed as city view but you have either a north view of the ocean or a south view of the ocean so no room has a bad view if you don't look down at parked cars along the sides. It also has under the hotel parking for guests.

There are a number of Hilton properties in the area of the one I stayed at, but this is what I guess is the flagship one. Maybe about 8, and I have some points. What most of them lack for me is they are not on the Boardwalk, and that includes the Hilton Suites I stayed at. The Hyatt is on the Boardwalk.

The Hyatt also has a new 4 story, 3 floor hotel opening directly behind it and it will have a very short walk to the BW and beach. These units will feature a kitchenette plus will share the amenities of the Hyatt Place. I'll probably be booking it if it opens in time for summer use as I like 'new'.

See,I just don;t get this, I added all my relevant cc's to my acct, and it still just shows my CSR,with the end date..... what am I missing?

I was able to book the vacation package at Tokyo Disney that I wanted for my trip to Japan in January with ds. I got the 3 day / 2 night package with unlimited rides on the headliners and also allows you to book restaurants & time slots your meals. I booked 2 packages because I couldn't decide which hotel: MiraCosta (Porto Paradiso with harbor view) or the new Fantasy Springs Hotel (rose court side was the best I could get -- neither springs side nor the Grand Chateau were available). No issues with my credit card going through (CSR was already saved in my account). It took less than a half hour to book both hotels / packages.

I set my alarm for 1:20am to be sure to be ready for the 2am release (3pm JST) and didn't have any wait (I had 3 browsers open and no issue on any of them, though I was kicked out of the queue on my iPad and when I got back in the wait was over an hour).

I have to decide which hotel I want. If I was certain that the harbor show was running I'd go with the MiraCosta, but I read yesterday that it will be down during our stay. Plus I have read that DisneySea starts blasting music at 7am and I am a light sleeper, so not sure that appeals to me (I'd probably be up anyways, but I'd like it to be by choice lol). Which makes the Fantasy Springs Hotel a bit more appealing. Any thoughts?

How about a CIP? $8k spend gets you 120K URs
Or an elevated offer for an Amex Gold? More spend, but you also do have 3 months to meet it

So I need a new credit card for my husband. This would be for business trip expenses (new place doesn’t give a corporate card). Fees ok if we can recoup most of it. No foreign transactions fees would be great, but not a deal breaker. He’s an AU on a couple of my cards, but he’d prefer one where all his business trip expense go so he doesn’t have to sort his charges out.

Expenses are inconsistent. Past 2 months he had $5k in business travel each, but now nothing until September where it will probably only be $1k in hotels (main campus where he’ll visit a few times a year, but it’s a 2 hour drive from us so no flights).

I was thinking the US Bank Altitude reserve. For the Priority Pass lounges and the the fact that he gets the $325 credit that applies to any hotel stay to recoup part of the annual fee.

I'm just coming onto this thread for the first time. I'm completely lost, lol.
But I'm excited to read through this post and hopefully learn some things.

I currently have 3 CCs that I haven't used in over 2 months because I was stupid and now I'm trying to pay them off. I will keep them even though each charges a yearly fee (1 is $79.99 with a 31% APR, another is $99.99 with a 36% APR and not sure what the 3rd one is, maybe $149 or something, but it has a 29% APR). And they all have low maxes ($300, $500, $700). Unfortunately, I was immature and ran them up to max on stupid stuff like groceries, bills, eating out. Now I'm trying to get them all paid down so my credit usage doesn't have such a big impact on my credit score. I truly didn't even know it did until about a month ago. I thought as long as you were paying on time, it was helping your score no matter what the balance on the cards was. Boy was I wrong.

Anyways, I say all that to say I'm excited to try and read a lot of this thread and figure out what's going on and how to get better cards and APRs.

I have a question about UK261 compensation. We recently had a flight canceled (which made us spend an extra 24 hrs in the UK). Are we only compensated for roughly $500 per person, or will they add hotel and meals to that?

And if I accept it, does that mean that I can't get the CSR $600 per person coverage? We also had travel insurance.

Asking for help here because I've never done this before and I want to get it right. VA is offering £1040 right now for the cancelation.
