United question: If you have a United credit card and purchase a Basic economy fare, do you still get the free checked bag?

I absolutely feel your pain. I have a strong love/hate relationship with USBs. They are the absolute easiest for me to buy, and the most problematic to use. I’m now seeing a lot of DPs coming in on Reddit/FT about USBs getting declined at the usual spots. Until I start seeing some positive news, I’ll be staying away. I’m sorry for all the hassle you’re going through. I’ve been there.

Yeah, of my last four USB vgcs purchased just since Sept 1, two of them have been fraudulently drained. Last year I even had a replacement card drained while it was en route to me in the mail! Anymore it's like the opposite of Willy Wonka's golden ticket (will this one be the one that is drained already??). Fortunately I've always been made whole, but months can go by before I get my money back.

The only reason I keep buying them is because I can buy several at a time and no one bats an eye. If I go to Safeway for their cards it’s like an interrogation just to buy 1 single card. Definitely frustrating. Being able to buy them at Kroger's SCO is so easy and fast...and nearby! But I'm going to have to go another route; ODOM vgc haven't failed me, it's just a hassle to be limited to $200 at a time. WM csr around me are either not well-trained or too on-the-lookout so I drive all the way to WM and sometimes have to leave depending on who is behind the counter. Annoying.

Circling back that my Grubhub charge didn't post until 11/1! The credit came through quick, but it now says I've used my credit for the month. Win some, lose some I guess. But the Staples charge still hasn't shown up!

My Staples charges finally posted today! Bought Target GC on 2 cards on 10/12. On a different card, bought Chipotle GC last month and this month, both posted quickly. Maybe just a coincidence. There are DPs on r/churning of even physical items bought online dropping off.

I woke up to about 75 new emails this morning....regarding Black Friday specials. And not anything
good. Not even anything interesting. From the airlines to stores to banks etc.

Maybe I have been put on the naughty list.

Yes, I do think the notification said 3/18, but when I looked at flights I think I saw some as early as 3/14. Just thought the fare was so cheap it might be worth it for all three of you to move to that flight.

I guess I didn't think about all 3 of us, LOL. But the cancellation fees wouldn't be fun....

Did your Staples charge post? Last month, the one that posted credited pretty fast. The problem was the ones that dropped off and never posted.

Getting ready to do another round of Go Puff orders. Going to have my BF open an account. I have 9 cards, he has 3, and I think my mom has 1. So we'll try for 14 orders. I'll place them to pick up tomorrow when my daughter has her consult appt at UM. We should be able to get 10 orders for $20 free, and 4 orders of $10 free. I think I'm going to order at least 4 air tags this go around. I heard the go puff credits end in Dec. I wish I would have found the pick up loophole sooner I can't instacart as there aren't any good pick up options nearby. I think I'm going to stock up on toilet paper, cat litter, and some other random items, LOL.

I messaged yesterday to get my new CIU overnighted. I leave for Vegas on Saturday. I hope I get the card ASAP. I applied last week, but figured I'd see if the card came w/o expediting. Maybe the original will be there tonight. I just checked and I'm $97 away from hitting the spend on my hilton card. So I'm good there on getting the FNC. And I'm pretty sure I'm about to hit the spend on my Marriott. So time to hit the CIU hard, and get those 90k URs.

My understanding is yes, and you get to bring a full size carryon as long as you are not in Boarding Group 5. I don't know if that second one has changed due to United going to WILMA boarding.

I have never opened bank accounts to get the SUBs. I received a mailer from Chase for their checking and savings account offers and it is also showing as an offer when I sign into my Chase account. I tried to open them from my account but the link was not working so I used the code in the mailer. I received a response that accounts could not be opened online and that I would recieve a letter in the mail with information. It also said I could go into a branch to open an account. I do not currently have or ever had bank accounts with Chase. I only have Chase cc's. Should I even try going into the branch to open the checking and savings accounts or would I get rejected also? Thanks for any thoughts.

Is this the Gold Biz deal? We used it in store to purchase a GC and it was refunded quickly. Kind of afraid to try it online since it sounds like it's iffy whether or not it will credit.

Seems counter intuitive but they probably need to verify identity. Should be no problem opening in branch. Unless you're faking your identity, then maybe it'll be a problem.

Many reports of Chase not allowing online opening but allowed opening in branch. If it was something else causing the rejection I don't think they'd offer the in person option. Our first Chase accounts had to be opened in person because they didn't have branches in the state so the system couldn't assign some number. Fortunately we live close to the state line and it was easy. Could be something logistical like that as another option.

You may be able to see the letter in your online account so you don't need to wait for snail mail. Could try looking in Notices and letters a day or two after application to see if it's there. May give you a better idea of why, or just repeat the offer to open in branch.
