IME, it depends on the travel agency .
Amex still offers OBC, but some travel agencies claim there is no additional Amex OBC credit. This happened to me in December 2023 when I was planning for an April 2024 cruise...so I chose the TA that provided the Amex OBC.

Something similar may have happened to my friend. She was originally going with a TA who said they participated in the program, but couldn't tell her if the rate qualified for the Amex OBC until after she booked. So she ended up going with the TA I've used before.
Thanks guys. I’ll make sure I’m clear about it with the TA. I would be irritated if I put the deposit on my Platinum card, and don’t get the OBC.

Last week I got 40k bonus pending on my original old CIP account for referring DH. He referred me back right away and I got a 2nd CIP account. He does not have any pending bonus as of yet. Hopefully no hiccups since I had to call in to get my app pushed through.

I am done for now since I got more than enough SUB to pay my DVC contract.
I got them in them in this order all within about 30 days.
- I applied and got Amex Biz Gold 200k spend 15k
- DH got CIP I referred him to get 40k he got SM saying they will match 120k after 8k spend
- DH referred me back for CIP for 40k and I also got the SM saying they will match 120k after 8k spend (mine had a disclaimer of if no bonus received within last 24 months)
- I applied and got Amex Biz Platinum (no LL language on my offer) 250k after 15k spend

Now I just need to make the most of that $695 AF on the biz platinum

Does anyone have recent experience with double booking flights on SW for the same day? In the past, SW has arbitrarily cancelled one of the flights booked because the flight times overlapped, which I can understand. But if I have flights that don't have overlapping flight times, can I book two flights on one day? Physically it would still be impossible to do both flights, and I'm wondering if SW's system still auto-cancels one of the flights.

Yes, they will cancel one if the algorithm decides you can't make both flights.

I applied for the CIP last Thursday and got a review message (not the 7-10 days). I keep checking my account and email and there's no SM or anything. I've never had this happen before. Ugh, I guess I should call?

google fi works i think Tmobile too I got 5g there with google fi
So I called T-Mobile and was told that with our plan we get 5 Gigs of data at slow speeds. The upgrade of faster data and 10 Gigs for $35 isn't worth it since we can get an e-sim for $14 that would do the same. So we'll just do the e-sim

You can check for a letter. Go to the hamburger menu, select "Statements and Documents", then select "Notices and Letters". That's where I found what I was looking for after my CIP application last month which went to review (ended up being denied).

Can someone please remind me if there's a reason to avoid prepaid Mastercards? When I used to convert to money orders, I thought only the Visas worked (not even sure if that's right). Anyway, I now use prepaid cards for taxes (personal property and property) and my water bill. The county's system takes Visa, MC, and Amex. So prepaid Mastercards should work, right?

I would think the prepaid MCs would work. I'm assuming you register the cards ahead of time, right? I've occasionally found websites that won't accept the prepaid cards but I haven't seen a pattern that would help me figure out which ones those are.

Has there been any talk here of the new US Bank Visa up to 4% cash back on everything? I'm getting ready to get myself set up for it and I've joined the waitlist. It would be nice to discuss with others.

First I've heard of it. Looks like 2% cash back, extra 0.5% if you have $5000-$49,999 in other US Bank savings and investments, extra 1% if you have balances of up to $100,000 in other US Bank, and only 4% above that. I guess if I had other US Bank accounts, which I don't, it could be worth it.

  1. This card earns cash back rewards in the form of Points. To redeem as Cash Back in the values noted in this advertisement, rewards Points can be redeemed as a deposit into an eligible U.S. Bank deposit account. Other redemptions, such as statement credits and gift cards, may be at a reduced redemption rate.

They had a speculative conversation about this card last week. Kind of interesting

I see there's a bank bonus for opening up the Smartly Checking account, so there's an incentive. And I can move my IRA over to the self-directed brokerage which I think would qualify me for the 4% cash back.

I have an old USB credit card (if anyone remembers Club Carlson, it's gone through a couple forced card conversions) so I think I may seriously consider this one.

The only issue I've had with Mastercards is when I'm running them as debit. I can pay my Target card and Lowe's card at the desk with prepaid Visa using debit, but Mastercard doesn't work. Assuming your county is running as credit, not debit (which, with the AmEx in there seems likely) I wouldn't forsee any issues. I would probably only get one as a test just to be sure, but I'm inherently risk averse.

I never did with the Visas but I am okay doing it if I have to. I am having a hard time getting the Visas at my Staples lately so I figured I should give the MCs a try.

Good idea! I have a water bill at home to pay so I can try it out before I buy $3k worth for second half taxes. The water bill and taxes are the same payment website. Just hoping my county doesn't go back to its pre-Covid credit card fee anytime soon.

We are in the same boat. DH applied last Wednesday. He has 2 personal and 2 business cards. Lowered his credit limits. Applied with an EIN since we have a real business. All 4 of his accounts are in separate logins and no notices yet.
