I just opened the Chase IHG credit card for their 5 free nights after 4000.00 spend in 3 months. I can pay my school taxes with a credit card through Tax Look UP.net for a 2.65 fee. Has anyone used this site and do charges like this normally count towards spend when trying to earn a credit card bonus. What category would this fall under?

The only reason I am doing this way is to get up to the 4000.00 spend, so if it does not, I will just write a check and save the 82.50 fee.

Not familiar with that site, but I have used Chase credit cards to pay taxes in order to earn a sign up bonus. Many of us have and it's a great way to earn on taxes and paying for education.

Not sure what category it will code as, but since you are thinking of using the Chase IHG Premier card, it will certainly be in the "all other" spending category on that card, so 3x IHG points.

In happy travel hacking news regarding our JW Masai Mara trip for next year, I wound up canceling our return flights on British Airways NBO-LHR-MIA which were 400,000 Avios and $668 in taxes. I had 107k Air France miles that were set to expire the day we leave JWMM. AF released saver flights for the return home, NBO-CDG-MIA for 121,000 per person. Very happy to have 400k Avios back to use later and not have to worry about using expiring miles before it’s too late.

Replying to myself just to see if anyone has any specific recommendations on cruise insurance- any specific provider and/or any specific plan?
I used Allianz when I cruised last year. It was a plan that allowed me to "cancel for any reason." I did not have to cancel or make a claim so not sure about what it actually would have covered/paid out. It was relatively inexpensive.

P2 doesn't want to play this round so looks like my 40,000 referral bonus will expire unused. Not sure if I want to take the 120k for myself as I just finished a 10k spend and 8k may be pushing it for the next three months. I may just take the chance the holiday season will bring more large bonuses.

Instant approval for CIC using DH's link. I closed one a few days ago but kept another open so wasn't sure how it would go. Whew.
Tomorrow we do the same in reverse (I refer DH). Our local Staples is gonna get hit hard in the next few months, lol
DH had instant approval as well. Last inks were in January.

These are definitely going to be Staples bound because we still have most of the $15K from the Biz Plat mailer to meet. And although CIC now gives you 6 months to meet the second half of the spend, I want to get the Hyatt personal card in November when we're done with the Biz Plat. I'm going to end up only 7 nights away from keeping Globalist, it turns out, so I figured it's finally time to get that card.

I was a little worried DH wouldn't be game for another card so soon since he has opened 2 Biz Plats since May, one of them just a couple of weeks ago. But when I asked he just said "sure," so I didn't hesitate lol

More of a silly question, but you are the right people to ask!

I am going to be in Canada in a couple of weeks for work, and will be carrying both my passport and my GE card (since I am driving back into the US... flying in and out of BUF)

Are there rules about whether I can carry those two items in some sort of 'wallet' (I don't have one for them; I was going to look on Amazon) or do they always need to be out/on their own (inside my purse) or how does that work? I don't want to buy a separate wallet for them if I'm going to have to remove them from the wallet to present them.

again find myself debating *myself* about my old ihg cc..... I keep it for that $49 night, but I'm locked out of ihg for another year on biz cc...and I love those flexible ihg points! Is it really 'worth it' to hang onto that one night if they offer a better cc points deal sometime soon? I don't want the free nights bc they expire- also I don't think the old basic $49 cc has the 4th night free?

Just added up the organic spend I have in the next 2-3 weeks, and now I'm itching to apply for the CIU. Will do on Monday since I want to do on a weekday just in case I need to do an intervention ie calling. The spend I can think of is about $5600 and I figure I'll pick up a few Costco gift cards and maybe a Safeway gift card to round it out. It's so easy to spend money!

Happy Saturday all!

When you say credit, do you mean you used one promo and now there isn't another one available for the second CSR promo? I just ask because there is the single monthly $5 DD credit, so want to make sure we are on the same page.

I have successfully used both promos on the CSR, but I did my orders different days. Not sure if that's why.
yes, the 2 $10 csr promos. i checked and I'm registered with my csr used the $10 on Thursday, tried yesterday and says I have no other promos available. Unless I used it and don't remember! hopefully September works

is the $5 monthly credit automatic? I don't recall that one!

DW will likely book a flight in the next week or so for June 2025. It's a simple domestic flight for our son's World Series. She has two Amex business platinum's. When the flight happens she likely won't have either as I doubt we keep them past the first year. Does the 35% points back take place after the flight or sometime sooner? If after the flight can she get it back if she booked with the business platinum but no longer has it?

ETA: Nevermind looks like it is done 6-10 weeks after the charges post but I didn't know that the 35% back is on the airline you chose for the $200 credit. Hers is Southwest and she won't be using them for this flight.

Sigh. I have a YouTubeTV offer on several cards: Spend $57.99 and get $20 cash back. My bill comes to $57.79. :badpc:

Are there any cheap add-ons? You used to be able to get curiousitystream for $3/month. You could still net $17 if you found a way to inflate your bill just a bit.

Yes but unfortunately they are billed separately, at least in my experience so it wouldn't count towards the minimum total.

Yes the $5 is automatic but right now it can be used for anything so you can combine it with the $10 "Promo" for grocery/convenience stores.

The $5 rolls over and expires at 3 months. So we usually have $15 a quarter to use.

Thoughts on any of the Delta credit cards. Our goal is to travel on Delta more as all other airlines out of our home airport are a nightmare (not the the airlines themselves just the location in the airport). We would fly probably 2-3 times a year so not heavy travelers. At first glance the cards don’t look amazing as far as everyday spending spend goes.

We are wanting to sign up for clear and/or TSA PreCheck soon as well.

Another Door Dash DP. I have the CSP, CFU and CFF. I already had an account with my CSP and used that credit yesterday with no problem. Today, I created new Door Dash accounts for the CFU and CFF. I used 3 different emails but the same phone number. I was able to use the credit with the CFU no problem. but I could not get the credit promo to work with the CFF. The promo is available in the acct and it would let me add the promo. Then I would get a pop up saying the promo wasn't eligible on this order. It was the same products and store with all 3 accounts, so I have no idea what the issue is. Anybody else encounter this issue while trying to use the credit?
Thanks for this! I did not even know there were DD credits for the CSP, CFU and CFF. How do you create and access 3 accounts using your same phone? When I open my app, it just goes right to my existing account and I don’t see an option to switch to a different account owner.

So far, I was able to use both of my CSR August $10 credits at a convenience store - one yesterday and one today.

Never had to show either in Canada outside of border patrol when crossing. You can use passport for the hotel ID but dl should suffice.

Have the Delta Gold card, still on the $95 annual fee. The only reason I keep it is for the free checked bag, and the 15% off on reward flights which are booked by points transferred from the AMEX Plat which we use to book flights (5pts/$). Besides that, don't use it for anything else. Was thinking about applying for the top one if flying increases but saw that they limited lounge access unless you spend some high amount on the card.

Thanks. Confirms my thoughts that for actual spend it's not a great card.
