I just opened the Chase IHG credit card for their 5 free nights after 4000.00 spend in 3 months. I can pay my school taxes with a credit card through Tax Look UP.net for a 2.65 fee. Has anyone used this site and do charges like this normally count towards spend when trying to earn a credit card bonus. What category would this fall under?
The only reason I am doing this way is to get up to the 4000.00 spend, so if it does not, I will just write a check and save the 82.50 fee.
Not familiar with that site, but I have used Chase credit cards to pay taxes in order to earn a sign up bonus. Many of us have and it's a great way to earn on taxes and paying for education.
Not sure what category it will code as, but since you are thinking of using the Chase IHG Premier card, it will certainly be in the "all other" spending category on that card, so 3x IHG points.
