@CyndiLouWho and anyone else who flies out of Chicago -- I have a 3 hour layover at ORD tomorrow. What is the best place to spend some time? I have the Chase PP and AmEx plat card. I will eventually make my way to the Lufthansa lounge, but don't want to spend the entire time there. Any recommendations?
Foodie that I am, everything I'd recommend would be food. I'm sure you can get food in the lounge (FWIW I've only ever been in the AA Admirals Club at ORD) but if you want to venture out and try local stuff I'd recommend Tortas Frontera (Mexican by Rick Bayless) or Publican Tavern (farm to table type stuff) for food. Goose Island Brewery or a wine bar (there are a couple, I haven't tried them) for drinks. Nuts on Clark or Garrett Popcorn for snacks (those are packable and super yummy; both have popcorn but I prefer Garret for popcorn and NOC for chocolate or honey coated nuts.)

The Lufthansa lounge is in the International terminal. Over the past few years, they always seem to have a sign that says full (no Access for Priorty pass).
What terminal are you going to be in? I like the Frontera restaurant in T3. ORD is pretty lame when it comes to lounges. :(

It sounds like I land in T1 and take off from T5, though I am not certain this is the case.

as far as points from a referral on CiC...how long do those usually take to appear? I don't see anything yet in P2's acct page..... it's been about a week now

I’ve been off the boards for some months because I was set in strategy and also not planning Disney trip. Haven’t been since 2020.
Well a friend who was widowed by Covid is asking me to go with her and her 2 young kids to Disney world. They’ve never been. I got tickets and reservations, we’re going in January for a week. I’ve been reading tons of blogs but am feeling overwhelmed by the changes. I linked her family to my account but am worried when we get there - can I but genie plus for her from my account? Does she buy genie plus but then I can be in charge of making the reservations?
I am a planner and a worrier so the old system gave me enjoyment of planning and relieved anxiety that I was “controlling” the vacation.
Well now I have more than the usual need to make this fun for them - and a whole new Disney world where the reviews are intermittently horrible and wonderful.
I already talked up ohana to them only to fail at getting an ADR for any of our 5 days despite logging in at 7am…
I read the Disney tourist blog so I’m vaguely familiar with the system and how to do a day. I figure somewhere has written a blog or a trip report that’s almost my exact situation (it’s the internet, almost everything is here). Anyone have helpful direction for a returning dischurner.

It took a few weeks for the points to show up in DH's account the last time he referred me. I had even SM'ed them about it and they told me it could take 6-8 weeks. The points were showing in the tracker a few days later.

@Psychodisney @CyndiLouWho thank you for your suggestions!

Do you know how to get from T1 to T5 and how long it will take? I have read that there is a bus that will transport me w/o the need to go through security again, but the O’Hare website seems to indicate that this bus no longer operates (they lay out how to get the bus, but then say it’s no longer running). It’s a bit confusing!

I asked the agent at the AC check-in counter this morning but she had no idea. She had a great deal of trouble checking me in as well, so hopefully my checked luggage makes it safely!

On a churning note, I had an offer on my Cdn AmEx plat for a $20.00 credit on $100.00 spend at the Duty Free boutique. I was able to get some nice travel size Shiseido facial products and Fekkai travel size shampoo and conditioner for $102.00!

The airport train system is finally working again. You should be able to get on the airport train (NOT THE CTA) to get over to T5. I don't think you can walk it.

It's been almost four weeks for me and it still hasn't shown up yet.

I am enjoying the Polaris lounge at gate C18 in T1. We landed in T2 and will take off from T1. AC had a concierge waiting for a few passengers when we disembarked to help us with connections and he highly recommended this lounge. It seems very nice — I’m in the restaurant and just had a nice beet and goat cheese salad and am now enjoying chicken schnitzel with spatzle. For any tea lovers they have Damann tea in the Polaris lounge!

The flight here was 2 hours and AC served a dish and I am not entirely sure what it was. It was on a tiny platter and had cut up squares of something I believe to be very undercooked, cold potatoes covered with some kind of vinegar drizzle with a small piece of dill; this was accompanied by a very small piece of smoked salmon and another piece of some kind of uncooked fish, though I am unsure what it was (I tried a small bite, could not ascertain a taste, so decided not to risk eating it and possibly giving myself food poisoning — thankfully I was sitting in a single seat — biz class was a 1-2 seating arrangement — so it, hopefully, went unnoticed). No bun, no other food, nada. The flight departed at noon and I was starving when I reached the lounge! I wish that I had taken a picture to share because the small size of the snack really needs go be seen to be believed( it could not be considered a meal by any stretch of the imagination). I did have time to stop at Garrett’s and buy a bag of Garrett’s mix and a small tin of mix to either take home or eat on our travels!

Boarding for my flight to Frankfurt is at 3:30! I still have to pinch myself to believe that I am actually on my way!

There are services which automatically search for dining reservations for you. They search about once every 45 minutes. If they get a hit, they notify you by text or email. You then log onto MDE and see if the resie is still available. One is at Touring Plans. There are others but I'm not sure I have time to find them before my work Zoom meeting starts in a few minutes.

I just want to make sure…

I have the 20% back Chase offer at Kohls. DD18 is an authorized user on that card and has her own card. Since it has the same account number, if she uses her card it will still trigger the offer? She has a Kohls near her school and I’d like to send her to get a gift card for me.
Has anyone found a Kohl's with Disney Gift Cards? I've checked 3 (1 in person and 2 by calling) and none at any of them. I have 2 offers and don't normally shop Kohl's.

Are you familiar with the vegetable called jicama? Do you think the cold potatoes could have been jicama?
